Book Review – Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon

Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, Book 2)

Book #2 in the Outlander series had my attention, but I was not always riveted to the story. It progressed nicely, albeit somewhat confusingly. We jump from the 1900’s to the 1700’s and back again as Claire recounts her astounding tale, and it was enough to make me panic a bit (Claire went back to the future?? She’s back with Frank? She’s got a daughter! What?! HELP! What happened to Jamie?!)

It’s safe to say the beginning (and that is how it starts) alarmed me, but my despair had me bound and determined to find out where this was going… read more

Whoa, this has been a busy work week (and still is cause I’m working as we speak). But I thought I’d drop in with a note saying I’ll be back soon, and I’ll be reviewing Outlander.

WOW this is a GREAT book, so far. Is the whole series this good? I don’t know how many people I’ve told the premise to this weekend. I bet I’ll have a whole slew of new “converts”. This one was a free e-book (900 pages long I think!), but I’m hooked, so I’ll be buying more. I can’t stop at just one. read more

Book Review – Beyond the Highland Mist by Karen Marie Moning

Beyond the Highland Mist
This one was intense! The romantic despair was off the charts, and scorching hot. While some might find it to be a bit much, my “romance sweet tooth” was greatly appeased 😉

So, way back in the 1500’s, there is this absolutely GORGEOUS mortal in Scotland (Sidheach AKA “Hawk ” – who is perfect in EVERY way), and he has caught the eye of the Fae Queen. Hawk is desired by every female, but takes none into his heart. In essence, he is the 1500’s version of a “player”. A total heartbreaker, he has managed to anger many females who swore to make him theirs. The Queen is amused by his reputation and greatly intrigued. She flaunts his prowess to her equally gorgeous royal (and immortal) Fae subjects.  Now suddenly they are extremely jealous too, and a few in particular start scheming against the human Highlander. And you know those pesky Fae….once they start causing trouble, it can have devastating effects on the mortal world. read more

The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker

This novel (officially released today), has become, unequivocally, one of my favourite books (I was lucky enough to get a “sneak preview”). It is an amazing paranormal love story rivaling some of the sweetest tales. It will have you chuckling, teary eyed, and “love drunk” midway through.

Set in Victorian London, the novel introduces us to a group of six children, each gifted with a specific supernatural ability, and the ability to see (but not hear) ghosts. Their duty is to form an alliance called “The Guard” that protects humans from restless spirits. read more
