Crossing the Line (Battered Hearts – book #3) – Quick note! While these can probably be read as standalones (and understood well enough as the author backtracks), they are best read in order for maximum impact. You get the “best friends/family feel”, and important new characters are introduced, as the series progresses. And anyway. Like I know many of you, you’ll go CRAZY for book #1 (MMA fighter “Clay” rocked my world), so I highly recommend it!!

This is one of the most heartfelt, touching and beautifully narrated stories I’ve read all year, and has fast become one of my favorites in this genre. Gentle, yet powerful, the inspiring message learned… no lived by the characters, will be felt down deep, by all. We experience every single bit of it with them. We take each step, have every conversation, reach a hand out after a fall, let each other in, and laugh and cry with abandon… by their side.
And right from the start (I mean it!! 7% in and I was already crying), it had me in it’s clutches as two of the main characters (still children) sobbed in their mothers’ arms while being rocked together on the porch, coming to terms with a grave realization. Bittersweet in it’s lesson, painful in it’s acceptance and yet it still had me chuckling in it’s sweet comical relief by the name of “Bailey”. I was grinning through glassy eyes, wiping up a few last tears that escaped…
Whoa. The synopsis for this one had my attention months ago, ’cause it was obvious this story would lead us on an intense, yet uncomfortable path. Just the title alone says so much. I couldn’t wait!! And it delivered. Even when it took me out of my comfort-zone, made me cringe, it simultaneously made me ache. It has that real life feel, and I was in!
In fact, the *cringeworthy* stuff often has that added bonus for me. Eeep! I know… sometimes I worry that I should stick to sweet and safe (lest I be labelled… a bad book-influence). 😉 And I do enjoy sweet and safe, but I like to delve into the socially… unacceptable.
Since I fell so hard in love with Bastian from this author’s book “Surviving Raine” I’ve been hearing GREAT things about another one of her series. THIS one! I hear these are unputtdownable!!! So I read the prequel last night (only 50-something pages) and it was steeeamy and very very good. 🙂 Prompted me to immediately start the official book #1 and so far, so good! YAY ME!!
Joanna OMFG… I have discovered Shay Savage and I have fallen in love!!!! I read a novella (Otherwise Alone) by her last night and it sucked me in so hard I immediately downloaded the sequel, “Otherwise Occupied.” Then I read it in one sitting. Then I downloaded her book “Surviving Raine” and read through half of it. Yes, my dears… I read a novella, a full book (and not a super short one) and half of another in one sitting last night. I’m in love.
Jackie: I love her books and her 1st Indie just went Live.
Susan: Thanks! Love her books!
