Following my heart, one book at a time...
PARANORMAL ROMANCE SERIES ALERT!! Author Rebecca Hefner is this week’s newsletter sponsor, she’s a huge fan of the BDB (like us 😀 !!! ), and she’s preparing for the release book #4 in this series (in just a month!!).
To celebrate (and get us caught up on the series) she’s sent over a five fun facts (I love it ’cause we get to see who the characters were inspired by, plus more cool tidbits), and she’s giving away an e-book of book #1 to one lucky commenter here.
REVERSE HAREM ALERT!!! Our resident reverse harem reader, Tessa, recommends these!!
Tessa: OH! For RH lovers, Tessa Cole’s series, The Nephilim’s Destiny, is insanely good. The romance is a slower build but the characters, plot and overall arc is awesome.
And each one is a “mystery” that ends in HFN with the overall storyline going through all the books.
About book #1:
I’m Officer Essie Shaw, and I shouldn’t exist. If anyone finds out their friendly neighborhood beat cop is a nephilim — public enemy number one — I’ll be imprisoned. Or worse, dissected. I survive by keeping my head down and my barely-there magic under wraps.
Ahhhhhh WE LOVE mermaids!!!! So many of us wanted to be mermaids (or at least pretend we are when life gets overwhelming), and mermaids are near and dear to my heart. In fact, my friend R sent me a GORGEOUS knitted mermaid tail recently (SO cozy… it’s like a blanket… but it’s a full-on tail!!) but they’re special to me, also because of where I live.
Not only do we have the Weeki Wachee Springs State Park here (with the daily, “real-life mermaid” shows – in fact, even Paris Hilton trained to be a mermaid there, for her reality show way back when), but we ALSO have manatees here, which is suspected to be what Christopher Columbus and his men were seeing, and thinking were mermaids. *ahem* *blink blink*. 😉
Jenna is having other-worldly cravings 😉 and she’s hoping our book crew has some recommendations!
Right off the bat, I know TONS in our crew here will say Anne Bishops “The Others” series (I read #1 and loved it – here’s my 5-STAR review – and I should totally continue devouring them as our crew have).
She asks:
Hi Maryse!
I was hoping you’d help put me out of my book funk misery by asking your readers for some recommendations?!
Books where the storyline is based purely on romance no longer holds interest for me (sob).
POST APOCALYPTIC SERIES ALERT!! Oh I LOVE those storylines and book #3 (the finale!!) is now up for preorder!!!
MicheleS: I’m reading Year One, by Nora Roberts. Already hooked. Post Apocalyptic, mixed with Irish “Magick”… characters I already love…. so so good. Haven’t read her in years. Forgot how great a writer she is.
Michele G: I also give a shout out for how good Year One by Nora Roberts was! I’m currently reading/listening to the second one in the series, Of Blood and Bone. It’s also quite good and the romance that’s brewing in that one is going to be spectacular. The only bummer is having to wait for the next one to come out but I think it’s slated for November….
