Dark Matter: A Novel
Whoa! Now that was a crazy, intense, convoluted, yet strangely understandable read! LOL! It’s not normally what I’d gravitate to, but I’m truly enjoying these disturbing looks into “survival mode” (The Martian is what set me off) and this book came highly recommended!

Perry: Maryse, you have to read Dark Matter. Trust me on this one. It’s a Sci Fi Thriller. You are going to love it. I’m 99.99% sure. DARK MATTER by Blake Crouch. Favorite book of the year so far for me… you have to read it. read more

Book Review – The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

The 5th Wave
Friday night… I was all set to read one of my two top choices in my TBR list. I even had one of my Facebook friends choose my next one for me since she had read ’em both. Angsty, action packed romance, or psychological horror story of a kidnapped girl, and we all know how much I enjoy that kind of adrenaline rush. Both books are getting great responses, so either way, I was likely to come out a winner, right?

So what the heck happened, for me to go completely off of my book-radar and choose one that I had never heard of before (even though everyone else has ;)). It appears to be an extremely popular new release. It’s getting a TON of great reviews. But I hadn’t heard of it, simply because it wasn’t in the genre I normally troll for my next book-boyfriend. This one is Sci-fi YA, although my husband didn’t mention that part when he found it for me. read more

Book Review – Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Onyx: A Lux Novel
An excellent follow up to a book that already had me *squeeing* with delight, back in January! I gave Obsidian (book #1) 5 stars, and Onyx gets that too!! It may be a YA series, but the energy, excitement and emotion are felt intensely no matter what your age.

Remember how amazingly addictive Vampire Academy was? (P.S. —> if you haven’t read it, you MUST!!) To me, I considered that YA for adults ;). This one is like that. Oh sure, the overall story isn’t remotely similar (there are no vampires in this series) but the feel of it is. They may be only 18 (or 17/18) but they’ve had to grow up quickly considering the dangers they face. read more

Book Review – Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout

Obsidian (A Lux Novel Book 1)
Yep. Squee-worthy. You all already know I *squee’d* from the last post. 😉 This one will, for sure, (I already know this) make my best of 2012 list. It had everything (well… almost everything considering it’s YA) that I love in a book. YA or not, though, this one doesn’t hold back in the romantic tension (and a few super *steamy* moments). There was so much of everything else to keep me enthralled, that  I didn’t “miss” what normally comes after all of that pent-up emotion. And the connections, the reluctant friendships, even the game-playing (and there is a lot of that)…. believable. read more

I LOVE THIS series!!! It’s YA but doesn’t read like one, and I’m absolutely addicted! Check out my reviews: Obsidian & Onyx.
