Reader Question – Sonia is looking for books with the "Sweet Gum Tree" feel…

By 10 Comments

Sonia is looking for anguish, heartache, slow-burning, love stories. Reunited and it feels so good… 😉

She asks:

Hi Maryse.

It’s me again.  I’m looking for a book that has a couple that reunited.

A book like  The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred But not the exact same. Like this book is like one with 100% love & anguish feels to it .
I liked the Sweet Gum Tree because of the character development.  Slow romance but not too slow. The love between the characters.

The anguish, abuse Nick faced then the anguish Alix faced later on, the sacrifice Nick did… the separation. Then Nick groveling or more asking for forgiveness. read more

Book Review – The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker

The Simple Wild: A Novel
I LOVED IT!!! But I knew I would. K.A. Tucker has become one of my most favorite authors ever. I connect deeply with each one of her books (and heroines), and I feel like I’m actually living them. I love her “voice”, and her brand of storytelling that is so unique to her, and yet so relatable to me.

This one was exactly what I was hoping for. Funny, heartwarming, and bittersweet. I read it with an almost permanent smile on my face. I was delighted. They had me chuckling so hard… read more

Reader Question… Solved! The book about the girl that was using the guy’s family’s bourbon in her recipes & they can’t stand each other.

By 4 Comments

Randi needs our book help! I love books when the main characters can’t stand each other. 😉 All that push-pull (mostly pushing). So much tension!!

She asks:

Hey Maryse,

Looking for a title to a book I just read and now I can’t find it on my Kindle. It is set in New Orleans.  About a girl with a restaurant.

The book starts with her using the guy’s family’s bourbon in her recipes.  They can’t stand each other.  He hires her to cater a event for him and she only does it to get money to help her mother. read more
