Genre request!! This fellow reader has a penchant for “book-jerks”. Tee hee! Don’t we all? 😉

But that’s because we love the drama of the wondering… of the “OH NO HE DIDN’T” moments, of the cocky bad-boy moments, the romantic indifference, the seemingly unrequited love, and then… the sweeeeet relief when the love finally allllll comes together. YES!!!

But make it hurt first, right? And a maybe a little after… too.

I was looking for a book about unrequited love, with a super-moody hero, and this one delivered! Very good read (here’s my review), great writing, lots of pining and emotional angst and fun-filled heartache. 😉 Plus romance (but of course). And come to find out, there are two more books in the series (one was just released)!!! So I posted the reading order below.

Cheryl: Seeing Jahleel listed as book one I clicked on it and saw that the sequel Keeping Jahleel is out. Forgot there was going to be one. Think I’m going to read it today since I couldn’t decide what to read next and I agree Jahleel was sooo good!! I love Jahleel’s 4-step wish!! *swoon* Bev- no cliffhanger. Just left you wanting “more.” read more

Book Review – Rule by Jay Crownover

Rule: A Marked Men Novel
An oldie but definite goodie that’s been floating around on my TBR list for a year now, and I finally read it! What took me so long… eh… who knows? Maybe it’s the cover. He looks… young. And kind of like my cousin or something. 😉

But wow, once I got over that aspect (I just re-invented him in my head), it ended up being everything I look for in a “book bad-boy”. It had all of the right touches. Steamy, slightly angsty, infuriating (oh he can be bad!!) but he’s also protective and deliciously alpha. And believable. Mind you the parents of both main characters were a bit over-the-top, but I went with it, because it helped cinch other parts of the story and emotional connection. read more

Lead: A Stage Dive Novel
Great installment to one of my absolute FAVE rock star series. Stage Dive rocks! This was the one I couldn’t wait for, because I was gonna get the true, rude (read: hateful) “bad-boy” of the bunch. Beautiful on the outside… but seemingly *ugly* on the in. You know me. I love my book boys damaged, and scarred (whether physically or emotionally). Done right, there’s just so much potential for personal, emotional depth, growth, healing and my own attachment to the story. To him. I forget they’re not real, and I couldn’t wait for Jimmy. He absolutely appalled me one of the past releases, and I was hoping for more! read more

Our Favorite Moody Book Heroes…

For so many of us, there’s just nothing better than a moody, brooding, reclusive, detached book “hero”. Okay, yes in real life, I’m thinking that would get old. Fast. But in our book worlds? Pining for that completely uninterested, no-nonsense alpha-male, and then experiencing “being” the one (and pretty much the only one) that finally turns him around (at least, in part). At least when it comes to her.

Ahhhhhhh the unrequited love for that guy that seems to need nobody, but that everyone wants to be a part of. The thrill of the chase (or of the “wait”). That exquisite “have to work for it” feel. Even the tentative friends-first thing. Then it slowly builds. read more
