HAPPY FRIDAY & HAPPY READING WEEKEND!!Β There’s a bit of a Vegas theme going on, on today’s Friday List.
I still haven’t chosen my weekend read (have you?), but since I’ve been on a great romance streak lately, I think I’m going to switch it up for the weekend. Maybe that psych-thriller down below. Or maybe Mr. MercedesΒ by Stephen King since that’s all the rage right now with the new TV series. Or maybe Steadfast by Sarina Bowen (also down below).
My heart needs something gritty but sweet, and that sounds like exactly it. π Hmmm… decisions, decisions.
Take a look at whatΒ we found for theΒ weekend!!Β

Reader Question – The book about the homeless man that comes into the hospital and she recognizes him…
Jackie needs our help! Sounds like a full-on angsty second chance romance BUT!! Be careful reading this question, as there are some spoilers (I will include mini warnings). π
She asks:
Hi Maryse !
I’m desperately searching for the name of a book I stumbled across through your Facebook page …it was really really good sadly I can’t remember the name !
The main character worked in a hospital er and a homeless man comes in beaten and unresponsive , she soon realizes it’s her first love from when she was younger.
Reader Confession – I love to "Google" dress descriptions in books, so I can "see" them…
Haha!! This is my own confession, and what I LOVE about confessions is not only the feedback from fellow readers that can relate, but getting some awesome insight from authors about that very confession. And this is one of those!
A few days ago… I confessed on Facebook:
Maryse: Confession:Β Whenever a beautiful dress is described in a book (especially wedding dresses), I google the intricate details given (material, color etc…) so I can try and “see it”… or at least as close as “it” can be.Β I LOVE doing that.Β This is the one closest to the one described in the book I’m reading now… beautiful!!!
Frannie: Its gorgeous
Allyson: what book? This is stunning
Maryse: Tarryn Fisher’s latest:Β Atheists Who Kneel and Pray: a romance novel
Amanda: I do too! And cars. If a car is mentioned, I HAVE to look it up.
Maryse: I do it for old “bad boy” muscle car descriptions. I know nothing about them…
Amanda: Or the new fancy ones!!! Lol
Meagan: I do the same almost for everything described in books. Clothing, cars, homes, apartments, and even hair, certain features LOL.
Maryse: I do it for hair!!! YES!!!
Frannie: Lol same. The first time I googled book details were with Gideon’s and Eva’s rings they got each other with the XX lol love it
June Stevens Westerfield: Confession: When I’m writing a beautiful dress (or a particular outfit) for a scene, I spend hours searching the internet for JUST THE RIGHT dress and use the picture to describe it, rather than use my imagination, which is fashion challenged.Β I also spend hours looking at houses and apartments online when creating where my characters live.
Alicia: Me too!!
Melanie Samples As an author, when I describe a particular dress, it’s taken directly from something I’ve seen, so it’s likely you’ll find the dress and can see exactly what I’ve described. π
Marzena: I do too!
Tara Sivec: I have a Pinterest board for all of my books where I pin outfits the characters wore. I’m obsessed with this!
Lori Meckley I always love describing anything I can when I write. I myself love to picture what I’m reading so I have to share it when I write.
Sabrina: I do locations too. I may or may not have looked up ‘uncircumcised ‘ years ago because it was a big deal in the book I was reading.
Teri: Me too!
Joy: I do the same thing. Author Christina Ross described the most amazing dresses in her Annihilate Me series that her character Blackwell purchased for Jennifer from Bergdorf Goodman, that I kept the store web page open to search for the dresses as I read the books! Now it’s become a habit to search online for the clothes that are worn by book characters.
Latest Paranormal & Contemporary Romance Book Releases β August 8th 2017
<—Β HAPPYΒ TUESDAY NEW RELEASE DAY!!! It’s not our biggest list ever (a little over 60+ new books) but some of our favorites are on it like K.A. Linde, Tara Sue Me, Meghan March and Jodi Ellen Malpas (that one right there to the left – ooooooh check out that title!! And the blurb is even better!!!) π
AND!!! One that really has my eye is a psych-thriller that sounds so intriguing.Β The Breakdown: The 2017 Gripping Thriller from the Bestselling Author of Behind Closed DoorsΒ <—Β I have NO idea from that blurb where it’s going to go, and that means potential twists and crazy reveals!!!
Β Eeeeeep. MINE!! Plus, I read a book by this author a few months ago (Behind Closed Doors: A Novel) that I loved, and have NO clue this one came out just a week or so ago. And I DON”T think they’re connected. SHE’S FORGETTING… STUFF…
Book Review – Atheists Who Kneel and Pray by Tarryn Fisher
Atheists Who Kneel and Pray: a romance novel
Tarryn Fisher’s writing style and voice is absolutely glowing here. And I must say… thank goodness (because it was EVERYTHING I was hoping it would be, and not at all, what I was expecting). What does that even mean?
Well, at first, I was bit leery of the whole “she’s a muse” concept. Muses are perfect, untouchable, and coveted, and… aloof. That doesn’t usually entice me. I tend to find those kinds of stories (with a an almost sociopathically detached heroine) that just continues moving on, man after man, breaking hearts walking into the sunset onto her next “life” with a satisfied grin on her face… I dunno. *shrug* Just not for me. That is, unless she’s some kind of bad-ass vigilante, or serial killer. Those are fun reads. π *snort*
