Ten Early Bird Book Releases + I highlighted a few pre-orders going live at midnight!

February 8, 2016 By Maryse 19 Comments

Wow you guys… so many of today’s “early-bird” releases sound pretty great. I really had to pick and choose to limit this list to my blurb-jolter “best of the bests” of the day, ’cause there are so many to choose from, and most made me go hmmmm…

Since tomorrow’s official Release Day list is so long, I do my best to keep the early-birds short and sweet, but today was hard. Can’t complain, though. Nothing better than tons of choices! I think there are some for every romance mood here. Jerk-face famous actors, psych-thriller M/M, romance at book conventions, fake biker boyfriends, unrequited love at the office, Mafia princes… oh yes. It’s gonna be that kind of reading day. 😉 read more

Author Menna Van Praag on her love of “Magical Realism” and the coveted HEA…

The Witches of Cambridge: A Novel <— This new release (going live tomorrow!!) and has been described to me as a “…delightful tale of magical realism, this is the perfect cozy winter read.”

Yep! It sure does sound like sweet (yet heartache-y) romance potential involving modern witches (a group of friends – professors – that gather together at a witch convention). There’s one that can feel the emotions of those around her, one with a strong case of unrequited love (ohhh I love the sound of that!!) and her sister that conjures up a cupcake of love (yep… casts a spell on it) and gives it to her sister’s crush… and oooops. LOVE TRIANGLE ALERT! *gasp*!! read more

Book Review – Abruption by Riley Mackenzie

Abruption
Sweet sweet sweeeeeeetness and it had me right form the get-go! I sampled it, and this was one sample, that as soon as it was done, I went in and one-clicked it right into my iPad. LOVED it! 😀

And I should have known, since a few of you commented and let us know how into this recent release y’all were.

Michelle: I can’t rave enough about how incredibly DIFFERENT this story is. There’s nothing to compare it to so it is a perfect “what to read after.” I saw you post about it, but if you haven’t read it and you’re looking for an emotional journey that feels so real and imperfect that you forget that they’re actually imaginary characters, or a book with twists and turns that make you question your own intelligence for not seeing things coming, or if you want to laugh out loud because you feel like you slipped into your own family reunion (as an outsider peeking in at the lunacy), and you want to fall in love with the most adorable kids ever, then you have to read this story! Can you tell that I’m having a book hangover?! Sigh. I’m jealous of everyone who gets to read it for the first time going in blind. read more

The Ultimate Book List of Innocent and Sheltered Heroines (strict upbringings, or raised in a cult etc…)

February 6, 2016 By Maryse 11 Comments

So many of us get a real kick out of the dynamic and “social study” of a sheltered character (one that lives differently from the “social norms” due to strict upbringing, religious beliefs, and/or abusive situations) that is thrust into the “real” world.

They find themselves reevaluating everything they thought was true. New lessons to be learned as their fears, and their beliefs are tested, and that can make for an exciting, and/or emotionally heart rending journey for both that character and the reader! read more
