Book Review – Sound Bites: A Rock & Roll Love Story by Rachel K. Burke

Here’s yet another example of my TBR list shifting when I suddenly spot something that I feel I MUST read. It showed up on my latest “bargains” list and I was really in the mood for a good old fashioned angsty rock star romance. I know, right!? What a surprising twist in my “usual” reading material. Doesn’t sound like me at all. Tee hee!!!

This one certainly called to me with the whole musician aspect and overall, I enjoyed it well enough. It’s not really what I’d call YA (despite what the cover looks like) as the characters are well into their twenties. Then again… it was pretty “tame”. It’s about everything that I could possibly relate to. The music, life after college, the friends, the venues, and my own “apartment living” days. A twenty-something woman returns to her home town after college (and after being betrayed by the two people closest to her). read more

Book Review – Lying Season by Karina Halle

Lying Season (Experiment in Terror book# 4) – slight spoiler alert! (barely but, just in case you haven’t read the books preceding this one, skip this review and check out this reading order guide instead: Karina Halle – Experiment in Terror Series Reading Order)

Well. I’m just starting to get over this one. Book #5 helped with that, but then again, don’t get me started on book #5. 😉 This book rocked my world (as my first nutty blog post indicated) . Best one in the series (#5 was pretty good too) but nothing can beat this one (at least not yet). And do you want to know why? ‘Cause it was the most relatable, most realistic, most emotional, most human book of them so far. And it gave me a TON of Dex and Perry in “real-life” situations. In day to day interactions. Clubbing, shopping, restaurant eating, friends meeting, arguing… all of it. But it didn’t give me just that. Nope. It gave me a TON of Jenn. Actually… Jenn and Dex. In. My. Face! GAH! It burns, it buurrrrnnns!!!! Hissssssss!!! read more

Colleen Hoover – Slammed Series Reading Order

One of my favorite books ever (well, two, actually, because they are both equally amazing reads). I couldn’t believe my LUCK when I read Slammed. Deep personal (and realistic) conflict, an intense romantic connection, a few sticky situations, a profound “family feel”… it had everything for me to consider it the perfect books. While the characters are “new adults” (Lake is eighteen and Will is in his early twenties), I don’t know anyone who read it and didn’t absolutely go crazy for it, because anyone and everyone will connect to these wonderful, heartfelt and very real characters. BTW: Book #1 is on my “Books that Made Me Cry” list. And what a cry it was!! read more

Book Review – Dead Sky Morning by Karina Halle

Dead Sky Morning (Experiment in Terror #3)
Darkest, most brain scrambling one in the series so far. When I finished it I wondered whether I was ready to move onto the next, or if I needed a bit of “real” time to get my mind back in gear. Yep… it was as good as 1 & 2, but played with my fragile little mind a little roughly, at times. And yet, despite all of the eerie moments, all of the “voices” in my head (I mean her head), it was THE one that lead me right where I wanted to go, or at least, gave the potential “romance” angle a little extra push. 😉 read more
