One year, 365 days–and then one knock at my door changes everything. A letter from him, a last request, a secret will: My dearest Nadia, Trust me, my love. One last time, trust me. Sometimes the epilogue to one story is the beginning of another.”
Linda: Highly recommend The Cabin by Jasinda Wilder. Wonderful and unique story. Tissues mandatory!!
Lisa A: I tried to resist clicking on The Cabin. I really did!! But then I read the comments and the Kleenex and the sobbing and the hearbreak…so click I did!!! Just gotta carve out the time to read it.
Liz: The cabin. It was my number one book of 2020. It was heartbreakingly exquisite. I’m so glad for your blog I would have never found it otherwise. Thanks for the recommendation girls.
D.G.: I started reading The Cabin yesterday and finished it this morning…break out the kleenex tissues! The first half WRECKED me! I literally sobbed…stopped to clear the tears, blow my nose then started back…to repeat. It just broke my heart…until it didn’t. Would definitely recommend!
Traci: I’m reading The Cabin and I’m 30% and am ugly crying and thinking why did I do this to myself? It hits very close to home without giving too much away. It’s so good though I have to continue it.

Tasha: …It’s written really wonderfully and it goes back and forth between past and present throughout so you find out slowly what all happened to shape her into who she is. There is some romance as well but it isn’t the entire focus of the story and it works so well for this book.
So heartwarming and also heartbreaking. There were many times I wanted to shake the mc too!! Awesome read, 5 stars from me.
- Date Me Like You Mean It by R.S. Grey <— LIVE!! THEY USED TO BE BEST FRIENDS… but she’s hiding her feelings for him… “…Not to brag, but Aiden Smith isn’t hard to resist if you’ve been doing it for as long as I have. In fact, we might have continued as best friends forever if not for the fact that I needed him to play the part of my fake boyfriend. Date me like you mean it, I told him. Nudge nudge. C’mon, just go along with a little lie, help a girl out, and then we can all return to life as we know it. Except he veered from the plan…“

- Until the End of the World by Sarah Lyons Fleming <— R. Renee recommends it!
R. Renee: I can’t remember if I recommended it yet but the Until the End of the World series is awesome on audio. It’s zombie apocalyptic, which I *should* hate, but I loved it! Julia Whelan narrates.
Maryse: I LOVE HER!! Wow.. then of course it is awesome. If I can remember right, Amy went pretty crazy for this series.
Amy: OMG I loved that series. Even though years later I’m still traumatized by the second book, And After. 😩
R. Renee: Agreed. The second book needs to sit in a corner and think about what it’s done.
Maryse: 😂😂😂

Tasha, good recommendation on The Language of Flowers…lovely story!
The Language of Flowers was indeed a great story. Very difficult at times but loved it.
Glad it’s being loved! Oldie but goodie!
R! R!
DID YOU SEE?? The AP.
Pennsylvania! Philly i love you.
I’m taking off my hugging ban and don’t care about Covid right now.
Want to hug and jump for one moment?
I am a mess right now. Trying to get it under control before I face my republican husband. And I need to hurry because champagne. And yes! 2 non huggers are virtually jump hugging right now! 😂😂😂🤣
All the champagne. Yes!
Highly recommend The Takeover!!! It was all around great read!!
Money
I have a special shelf with all the books that are re-reads for me. You and I tend to like some of the same. I absolutely love the MANWHORE SERIES. Did you read the book where they got married? Also the last book in that group, PLAYER, is excellent also.
Everybody loved IDOL but my favorite was MANAGED. Loved Sophie from the start but Scottie , the poor boy, needed love so much. Their story was a good one.
A book that I have mentioned to Maryse to read a couple of times because she is a big fan of Tessa Bailey is WORKED UP. If you can’t fall in love with a man with a slight beer gut who doesn’t promise to give up beer but to start drinking light beer for you then what more do you want?
Also have you read BIRTHDAY GIRL by Penelope Douglas? It is one of my re-reads.
MONY
MY PHONE DOESNT LIKE YOUR NAME. Keeps calling you money. If it starts sending you money I get half!
JulieO, hey, I can get used to Money…kinda cute LOL
Thanks for the recommendation about Worked Up by Tessa Bailey…new author to me…on my TBR!
Yes, I’ve read Birthday Girl & all the Manwhore books…really enjoyed those books (love Katy Evans!) Among other tropes, I do seem to be accumulating an impressive shelf of manwhore books… *shhh*
Hope things calm down for you…there’s just too much going on all at once…I’m taking meditative walks these days.
Mony
Please let me know what you think about WORKED UP when you get around to it. Everyone always has their favorite book boyfriend but this guy really touched me.
Enjoy!
LOL!!!
I may be dating myself but every time I see “Mony”‘s name… I hear Billy Idol with his “MONY MONY!!!”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYYAv-QW38Q
Mony… you rock. 😀
OMG, just what I needed!
When I’m on the dance floor, in my head, I’m dancing like Billy. 😏🎶🎸
yea, that’s how I got this nickname…from that song…my kids always get me up dancing when it comes up at a wedding or party…LOL
I just read a post from Chrissy Teigan
She said she felt like she just threw off a weighted blanket, took off her bra and took out her extensions. It felt so good.
Myself, I have been so stressed lately. Maybe we can concentrate on taking care of this monstrous virus if we all work together. I don’t want to upset anyone or gloat I just want everyone to try and be on the same page to get our country healthy.
Yes, I worry about this winter. Very curious about this new task force. My state wasn’t the worst hit but the numbers are increasing fast here.
Just everyone stay very safe as it is cold and flu season.
Maybe we all just buy a new blanket, pajamas, candles, chocolate, hot chocolate and curl up and stay home and read when we can.
With Manny!
Always with Manny.
Bev
I know. I am worried about our country and my family. My daughter is the manager of a Home Depot and during everything she has been working no less than 60 hours a week. Her partner is an emergency room nurse. Of course she is not just working emergency right now because practically the whole hospital is an emergency room. Needless to say I am not allowed to go visit them because their house is probably a Petri dish. We talk and text. My daughter comes over and sits on her car hood at the end of the driveway and I stay on the porch and we talk or yell that way. The old couple next door come out and join in our conversation. I sure miss hugging my kid. I cook meals about 3 times a week that I know they will like and try and think of think of dishes that they can take to work that microwaves well. Just leave on their front porch close to when one of them will be home. Mississippi pot roast is one of their favorites. Wish I could do more. Make Rice Krispies treats and brownies and cookies that they can take to work for their colleagues. That is my contribution. I stay at home and try to stay healthy because my daughter doesn’t need that stress. So Bev and everyone take care of yourself
That is really hard. I really hope that soon we will have some form of control over this.
Though not what you want and the situation being terribly scary for you and your family there is something sweet that your neighbor comes out to socialize and keeps their distance.
Bev
I know, kind of get a kick out of my neighbors. An older (I am old I guess so will call them older) couple and they are just lonesome. I notice when I put my cocker spaniel out that they will go out to the fence and pet her. I started subscribing to Redbox again. Where they actually send the dvd to you in the mail. I found it easier for me at this time. My neighbors are on an extremely limited budget so when I am done with my movie I let them watch it too. When I am making food for my daughter it is very easy to make extra and take them some meals every week. I also have them ordering their groceries and the store delivers. They give me their list and I send it in. I don’t want them out in the world bc so afraid one of them will get COVID.
That is so sweet and thoughtful, JulieO. Wow!!! I love this.
Read a few lighthearted books lately; Date Me Like You Mean it-lighthearted, no angst, superficial rom-com, Rocket Science- I think R recommended it, Happily Letter After. All just what I needed right now.
Tomorrow school begins again for all students- Hybrid. Have been back about a month with Special Ed students. Fingers crossed it all goes well. Need another lighthearted Rom-Com.
Yes, light hearted is what I have been reading lately! It has been hard to concentrate on anything lately. Good luck with hybrid. My two high schoolers have been going hybrid for 2 months. We have had some cases at each high school but luckily my two were not in direct contact. Our teachers definitely need to be paid more. They are working so hard!
As a school nurse, just with the few weeks we have been open with a hand full of special ed students it has been madness. Lots of new protocols, figuring out the logistics of the nurses office and dealing with + cases and those that have been in contact with + cases. Exhausted already.
Anyone rec’s on what to read next?
We had our first Covid notification, 2 days after my kids started hybrid. I will be thinking of you! Have you read Gym or Chocolate by Stuart Reardon and Jane Harvery-Berrick? I laughed out loud so many times!! There is a new book out in the series.
I haven’t read it. Adding to my list. Thanks!
Have you read any Lucy Score? Loved By a Thread and Rock Bottom Girl!
I have read a lot of her books and I have read both of those. Enjoyed both.
Thank you so much Kathy for the recommendation. I’ll add it to tomorrow’s list. 😀
Quiet Sunday night so pulled together a few light no-angst rom-coms…
Getting Schooled by Emma Chase, Walk of Shame by Layne, Before Girl by Canterbary, Everything Girl by Mayer, Reckless (Irresistible #6) by Stella Rhys, Boss Man Bridegroom by Quinn, You Can Have Manhattan by Dangelico 📚☺️🍷
Thanks Mony, looking those up now! 🙂
good luck!
Great List Maryse, I’m reading a book that ended as a cliff hanger by jewel e Ann Holding You. I really enjoyed the book, so now I’m starting Releasing me which is the sequel.
Really happy for all of you hoping to change the President, hopefully it’s everything that you hoped for.
YAY Melinda! I love when a book is so good, it makes you want to jump right into the next one. 😀
