<—IT’S OFFICIAL!!! MIDNIGHT SUN BY STEPHENIE MEYER IS GOING LIVE AUGUST 4th 2020 and it’s up for preorder. What a way to kick off a Monday!!!!!
Oh how we were teased last week over this possibility. Our whole book-world (well, at least us Twilight die-hards) exploded in excitement, and then today… we’re still exploding… though with a ton of relief!! YAY US!!!! And OMG it’s almost 700 pages!??! And how I LOVE this cover. Absolutely perfect in every way, especially symbolically.
Leslie M: MIDNIGHT SUN IS COMING!!!!!!! *thud* *This is Leslie’s subconscious speaking. She is still passed out on floor in shock. Once recovered will be doing an epic happy dance.*
R: 😂😂😂
Christina: I can’t breathe!!!!!!
Grey: August 4th?!? So far away….😞
Maryse: It’s 672 pages!!!! 😀 But yes… I want it now!! I’m so excited. I was obsessed with this version on her website back when I finished the entire series. It was SO good.
Anna: Oh my word! Finally! ❤️ …I really can’t believe it. I thought she was done with this for good.
Amanda: I cannot tell you how beyond EXCITED I am to hear this!!!!!! 🎉❤️🎉❤️ I think we all could use some good news right about now! I absolutely LOVE Stephenie Meyer and her brilliant mind!!!!! The Twilight Sage also re-started my love of reading again and got me through some tough times. And I still love Twilight to this day at age 39! I’m the person that still proudly wears my Twilight jewelry and t-shirts! 🤣
Rae: It changed my fear of vampires 🧛♀️. I’ll never forget reading the first 3 books back to back. When book 4 came out it was hardback only. I went home and was reading it making tea. I put it down to do something and when I turned round to pick it up it was gone. Husband hid it until I’d finished cooking and eating. My reaction? 😠 😤
Susan: That serious got me back into my love of reading again!😘😘
barb: I know nothing about this franchise but what is that a picture of on the cover 😳
Kirsty: it’s because part of the story is based on the Hades and Persephone legend… which includes a pomegranate in a big way. X
Faith: the original book, Twilight, featured an apple on the cover.
Sarah: $35?!? I’ll probably pay it too😂😭😂😭
Maryse: Me too! I need the hardcover for my collection.
Sarah: That’s my reason for buying it too 😂😍
Courtney: Yes! Many will be rejuvenated to read once again. 😊😊😊😊
Victoria: I am definitely. I never thought she would release anymore books. Was hoping for Jacob and Reneseme story.
Leann: I want one of Jacob 🙃
Courtney: you never know, Stephanie won’t make that mistake again like Midnight Sun. Fingers crossed, they all get a back story.
Wendy: YESSSSSS!!!!! Stephanie was also on Good Morning America announcing the release date!!!!!❤
Christina: Omg!!!!!!! You don’t understand what this means to me. Well actually you probably may be the only person that does. I need to talk to people that get it 😭😭😭😭
Maryse: I TOTALLY GET YOU!!!!!
Christina: I’m back to say, I can’t sleep because I can’t stop thinking about this. I’ve waited 12 years for this. I’m going to lose my damn mind. Someone’s going to need to get here and watch my kids 🤣🤣🤣 I need mommy time to read.
Andrea: I was a middle aged mom of 2 who hated reading. But after I watched Twilight I had to see what the fuss was all about, I fell hook line and sinker so I picked up the first book and couldn’t put it down. My obsession for reading this series had begone. I read those books one after another only to start again when done. I moved on to other books eventually which I engrossed myself into with just as much fever. And to this day I have to have a read everyday, maybe not as feverishly but I know I have Stephenie to thank for it. Cheers🥂.
Maryse: I know exactly how you feel. I’m so happy my mom insisted I read these because my whole world has changed since them.❤️
Ryan: That’s so funny because the series was the exact same for me! I had stopped reading for fun during school years and picked it up working nights and have not stopped since.
Shana: Same. I hadn’t read anything for fun in years until I picked up the Twilight Saga – I couldn’t put it down and then I finished it and had no clue what to read next. That’s how I found your wonderful blog and it’s been steering me in fantastic reads ever since. Can’t wait for this to come out!
Julia: Twilight is the reason I found Maryse’s blog. I remember how I finished the fourth book and was in a deep withdrawal. At some point I googled “what to read after Twilight” and ended up finding Maryse’s Book Blog and that was it for me. Must have been 8 or 9 years ago and we are still together
Heather: Same feelings about Twilight. 💯!
Britney: Twilight still holds a special place in my heart. I was given a life size cardboard cut out of Edward on one of my birthdays. It was awesome lol❤️
Amy: With how much hype the prequel to Hunger Games has had, I’m hoping Meyer will come out with something related—stir up the craze again 😀
Maryse: Oh that would be AMAZING!!!!!! I was so IN LOVE with this series and the characters (ahem Edward in particular).
Amy: me too! I’ve reread the series multiple times which I don’t normally do. I think I am due for a movie binge now.
I’ll never forget how absolutely in love I was with the entire Twilight series, that I was literally in mourning over it once I was finished. All I wanted was more Twilight and I couldn’t get out of my almost-depression and my love fog. I was in love with a book character (Edward was EVERYTHING for me), and all of the characters felt like they had become my family. I missed them all so much.
So… I devoured whatever fan-fic I could, to satiate me. And it helped. Oh how happy I was to continue to at least have a semblance of “living in their world” still. P.S. Many of those fan-fics became HUGE HITS in their own rights, once published. 😉 *ahem* Fifty Shades anyone?
But I digress.
I was absolutely ecstatic to realize that the author had written Midnight Sun, and posted it for free to read on her website. There were rumors of it not being complete due to a leak, and so it wasn’t finished yet. But there was just SO much amazing story up there from Edward’s POV that I loved it already as much as I loved Twilight. I LOVED being in his head.
Nancy: I was reading Twilight with my oldest granddaughter back in 2010 & your love for Twilight was how I found your book blog.❤️
Mekayla: I cant wait!!!! I’ve re read that partial draft for ever!!
And then… it was over. And the truth was revealed. It was not complete and the author noted at that time that she wasn’t even sure if she’d ever finish it. It was a devastating blow to her… and to all of her fans.
Barbara: It used to read something to the effect of since the partially finished novel was released without her permission she wasn’t sure she would ever finish it (I’m paraphrasing, of course, and my memory may be a little faulty. Now, though, it says “…the final copy will be infinitely superior.”
Maryse: You’re right, I remember that old one!! It was so disheartening, but now, I’m hearty!! 😉
Barbara: And really, it’s perfect. Edward died during the last global pandemic he should be resurrected in this one!!!!!
Malinda: Barbara, You’re right because about a month ago I clicked it to reread it and that’s exactly what it said.
Rae: Midnight Sun. I’d forgotten how much trouble she had with the script. I’ll read this definitely.
Maryse: Me too. I want that old feeling back!!!! YAY US!!!!
Kathryn: Twilight changed my life (helped give me the push I needed to start writing, and I’m about to publish my 15th book now). I was heartbroken about Midnight Sun. However, I just re-read Twilight, and some of the magic is gone for me. I think it might be because of the movie. I’m afraid that will happen for MS too. I mean, I’m still going to read it, obviously. 🙂
Rachel: I remember reading the leaked portion that she put up, and I was obsessed with it. I can’t wait!
Sue: I read what she had posted years ago. This would be great!
Maryse: Me too! I was devastated when I realized it wasn’t complete!
And now… the author officially announced the story we’ve all been hoping for saying:
“I am very excited to finally, finally announce the release of ‘Midnight Sun’ on August 4,” Meyer said. “It’s a crazy time right now and I wasn’t sure if this was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so, so long. It didn’t seem fair to make you wait anymore.
Sorry about the bad timing. Hopefully this book can be a distraction from the real world. I’m so excited to finally be able to share it with you.”
WE. ARE. THRILLED!!!
Kelsey: This is the best gift for quarantine!
Claire: I knew one day she’d give us Edwards POV (didn’t think we’d have to wait this long) but yay 😍
Sali: Holy crapballs Batman!
Beatriz: I’m deceased 😍
Danielle: Whatttttttt I would die!
Kylo: I will die twice.
Anjanette: Omg I love it !!!! Thank you for bringing us this good news 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
T.M.: WHAT!!!!???? OMG!
Teri: I never have and never will be as obsessed about a series as I was with Twilight! And I was and am a grown woman! 😂
Heather: 😍😍😍😍 …I’ve been wishing she would release this for years!
Mia: Omg. Teenage me just burst into tears.
Barbara: Omg!! Best news I’ve had in forever! ❤️
And then we had questions…
Ela: Hi! Do we know if this is the entire series through his eyes? Or is it that version she had posted on her website eons ago?
Michele G: I’m hoping it’s a summary of the whole series…there are sooo many moments I would have loved to be in his head!
Maryse: I was under the assumption that it was Twilight through his eyes (what she had originally posted)… but that she finally finished it. OH WOW!! It shows as 672 pages!!!!!!!
Michele G: I KNOW…that’s why I’m hoping it’s more… 😉
So here’s the blurb:
When Edward Cullen and Bella Swan met in Twilight, an iconic love story was born. But until now, fans have heard only Bella’s side of the story. At last, readers can experience Edward’s version in the long-awaited companion novel, Midnight Sun.
This unforgettable tale as told through Edward’s eyes takes on a new and decidedly dark twist. Yes, this here has made my day!!! This series is what started my love reading again. So excited!
I have been a fan of the Vampire genre for a very long time and when I found out about Twilight, I was at first unsure of the book. However, I loved the freshness of how Stephenie Meyer’s take on vampires. She kept most of usual stuff, added some of her own twists on vampires (and later on Werewolves, or shifters). I could not believe how many people got bent out shape of over this. They simply forget that one, it a YA novel, her own background, it is a work of fiction, and she has the right to write it the way she saw fit. I truly love, love each book. I re-read them over and over, and do not get bored with them. Not to mention I have all of the movies, and all of the movie score music too.
I was in my 50s when I saw the first two Twilight movies. I told my daughter who owned the DVDs that it was her fault I became a Twi-hard. Then I got ALL the books published up to then. I have all the movies, books, and soundtracks. I’m still invested in Twilight and I bought the E-book of Midnight Sun and will buy a hardback for my collection about a year from now.
