Reader Question – The book about the girl that works in a tattoo shop and she always cracked jokes saying “that’s what she said”…

Kitty needs our help and I’m pretty sure I read this one, so I will be backtracking through my reviews. However, somebody here knows it right off the bat and can help us?

She asks:

Kitty: Can anyone help me find this book? All I remember is that the main character got a job as a receptionist in a tattoo shop even though she had no experience with tattoos.

The tattoo shop owner was a bit of a dick to her to start with but the other tattooists liked her. She always cracked jokes saying ‘that’s what she said‘. I think the tattoo shop owner rode a motorcycle.

If anyone remembers I would be so thankful

YAY!!!!!! Finally!

I’ve received some adamant recommendations for Judith McNaught‘s historical romance reads (not just for “best historical” but for some of the BEST love stories altogether – and she also writes contemporary romance). She’s HUGELY popular, and considered one of the best-of-the-best in this genre. For any of us (me included) that wanted to delve into historical love stories, SHE is one of the main authors that everyone seems to direct us to!

Sally: Judith Mcnaught historical romances are definitely the best I’ve read. She writes the perfect heroes. Bump them up on your recommendations list. More people deserve to read these books. After all the books I’ve read hers are still some of my favourites

Julia: I’m a huge lover of historical romance novels and no one does it better than Judith McNaught. You have to check out her titles like “Whitney My Love” and “Something Wonderful.” They are two of her best.

Jan: I do remember loving her books, back in the early 90s I think??? I liked some of her CRs too, at the time. I haven’t read her books in a long time, but it seems she’s still pretty popular. Whitney My Love, Almost Heaven, A Kingdom of Dreams, Something Wonderful. Sweet, virginal but feisty hs, hot, manly, alpha Hs. It’s all coming back to me now…

Melinda: I actually bought every one of her books and they are all completely different. I loved them all. The first one I read wasn’t a HR it was called Every Breath You Take. And the line at the end when they were taking their vowels were ”do you promise to love honor and cherish” and he replied “with every breath I take”. So good. I loved Something Wonderful too…

But! All we could purchase were the print books. And you know me (and many of us). We’re happily spoiled by the convenience of our e-readers. And our time is finally here!!

Melinda: Bev I would so do a buddy read on any McNaught book. I haven’t read them for a while but when I read them I would finish one and have another waiting. I bought the whole series of all the books she wrote.

Amy: When I was in my early 20′s her, Judith McNaught and Catherine Coulter were my favorites.

Whitney, My Love

Catherine: Judith McNaught provides my aaaah moments in between paranormal romances. My two favorites are ‘Whitney, My Love ’ and ‘Once and Always’

Shana: I agree with the Judith McNaught book recommendations. Judith McNaught is what started my love for romance books over 20 years ago. I have read Whitney, My Love numerous times and enjoy it every time.

Lauren: Whitney, My Love is freakin INCREDIBLE!!!! Royce is an ancestor of the hero in Whitney, My Love, Clayton Westmoreland. Please read it if you haven’t already…..then there’s spinoff books from that one. … I’m pretty sure I have Whitney, My Love memorized. Once upon a time, before Travis or Christian or Gideon, there was Clayton Westmoreland… my first BFF. …Love Travis but I’m gonna have 2 go with Clayton Westmoreland…

Melinda: if your after another HR book. Try Whitney, My Love  by Judith mcnaught same author as A Kingdom of Dreams. Its really super good. But completely different story. You will love it.

Jg: Omg! I read so many of her books when I was in college! Whitney My Love!!

Once and Always

Lauren: Once and Always is another one that is so awesome….it’s about a different couple but set in the same time period & location.

Jenn: My prized book is an autographed copy of Once and Always personally autographed to me by Judith McNaught.

A Kingdom of Dreams

Anne: Just finished A Kingdom of Dreams and loved it!! I am in love with Royce Westmoreland. I love reading HR set in the Middle Ages, so any good recs?

Tessa: A Kingdom of Dreams was so good. I fell in love with that book and went through two paperbacks of it.

Tawania: My favorite book ever …If I had to choose, it would have to be A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught.

Something Wonderful

Tessa: I also loved her Something Wonderful. I went through a few copies of that book. I adored the grandfather. It was angsty, but so sweet too. I loved it. Besides, how can I resist a book that says. loosely quoted (I don’t have the book anymore) “Conventionality is a refuge of a stagnant mind.”  :D … Her grandpa said it to her. I just loved it, even as an adult.

…Go and read Something Wonderful. I absolutely loved it.

I have Something Wonderful practically memorized!

Perfect <— This is contemporary romance 😀

Natasha: I read an awesome kidnapping/stockholm syndrome book written in the 80′s (so much drama and angst) called “Perfect” by Judith McNaught – NEVER FORGOT IT! OMG read it three times !!!! Will have to give this a try!

Kristina: One of my all time favorites is Paradise by Judith McNaught. 4.3 rating over 13,000 votes on Goodreads

Elizabeth: You should definitely give Perfect by Judith McNaught a try, Maryse! I found it in a used book store 10 or 15 years ago and thought it was really good! While I don’t remember it being terribly “dark” it was definitely worth the read!

Jeannie: Perfect by Judith McNaught is an oldie but still pretty good! She was one of my favorite go to authors back in the day; I’m dating myself here lol. Storyline is a famous actor/director is accused of murder and goes to prison. He escapes and along the way takes a woman as a hostage. This was one of my favorites in her contemporary series.

Chris: She wrote some remarkable books, and is the author that got me back into reading. her book Perfect, is my reread and is in pretty tattered shape because of it. She was suppose to have another one with different characters but it never came out.

Tessa: Paradise and Something Wonderful were my favorite. I can’t choose between those two.

Paradise <— This is contemporary romance

Tessa: Add Paradise to the high recommendations. That book was angsty beyond angsty. My heart hurt like you would not believe reading it. Then I read it again, and my heart STILL hurt!

Hey guess what?!! It’s my FAVORITE time of the year!! We’re finally heading into HAPPY HOLIDAY seasons, and just finished an awesome Halloween, and we kick off the new month with a HUGE new release day. 100+ again, but of course I highlighted a bunch to help you sort ’em, plus…

Here’s my own mini-blurb jolt list: HALO (this is one of my BIG blurb-jolts of the day. The blurb gave me a jolt… she’s left pregnant when her husband goes into the military… but it’s the end of that blurb that had me mini-gasp!! I’m SO curious!!), I See You. (That one up there to the left. Molly McAdams is one of our queen’s of angst, and this one is touted as a love triangle the likes of Twilight. YAY!!) Breaking Cage (Famous football star and the reporter that he insists on not talking to), Unnatural Deeds (creepy psych-thriller that sounds right up my dark alley!! I think it’s about obsession, or stalker-ing, or… something? No matter, I’m seeing words from reviews like “creepy” and “shocking”. YES PLEASE!!!)

P.P.S. What am I reading now? A Love Letter to Whiskey <— Okay yeah. All I’ve been seeing in my comments, recommendations, and newsfeed is that THIS one is like our old-school indie new adult romances, and it is ANGSTY AS… well, you know. 😉 To the point of infuriation. So I one clicked it.

Jenn: My fav October read was actually a first for me from this author “A Love Letter to Whiskey” Kandi Steiner and I loved it so much I immediately bought and read another book from her called “Weightless” both forever faves and 5 star reads!

Nay: My favorite October read was also “A Love Letter to Whiskey” by Kandi Steiner. I think it’ll also end of being one of my top 5 for 2016. Major tummy-twisting angst! … The gut-wrenching feelings it gave me reminded me of what I felt when I read Thoughtless, and I haven’t had a book do that to me in a long time. So if you enjoyed the angst of Thoughtless, you might want to give it a try!

In fact, I’m reading it as we speak. And when I read this part… I KNEW I was in for it. YAY ME!!!!!

“Oh no.

I didn’t even have time to call dibs, I couldn’t even think the word, let alone say it, before it was too late. I watched it, in slow motion, as Whiskey fell for my best friend before I even had the chance to say a single word to him.”

Happy Halloween everybody! Did you all have an amazing Halloween weekend? Parties? Costumes? Costume mishaps? LOL!! What are your plans for tonight? Trick or treating with your children, or will you be handing out the goodies for the cuties? I’m betting a bit of both for many, and I’m hoping to hear some funny (or cute) Halloween tidbits soon.

Halloween-Eve proved to be a crazy release day, with three HIGHLY anticipated books that were released and are already skyrocketing up the best sellers of Amazon right now. But today is proving to be loaded in book-treats too!
