HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by my fellow readers, it’s a fantasy series AND it’s complete!!

Tessa: Alright, I just finished a series I had to read all the way through; The Tainted Accords by Kelly St. Clare. 4 book fantasy that involves a severely abused “princess” and um, her adventures. Seriously a lot just happens. That’s the best explanation without any spoilers. :D So, I guess, my desire for fantasy is back! YEAH!
Robyn: I just finished Fantasy of Frost (The Tainted Accords series) and am absolutely loving it. There are 3 more books. The h has to wear a veil over her face and has since she was a small child. I won’t give away why she has to because it’s part of the main plot of the books. I got my groove back with these beauties!
Robyn: I’m reading the last book of the Tainted Accords by Kelly St. Clare and I don’t want them to end. These books are that good!

About book #1:

Happy Friday!! It’s time for the Friday Finds (which I’m still currently working on will be adding more throughout the day), so keep checking back.
My family is leaving today and my heart is a bit sad, but  my book will keep me company. 😉 I will be reading ALL weekend. YAY ME!!!

  • Ghosted by J.M. Darhower <— GASP!!! SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!! This is a MUST READ (I gave it 5 STARS!!!) and here’s my review

Tessa: Ghosted. That one worked beautifully. *swoons* That one is worthy of a re-read.
Ashley: Ghosted by J.M. Darhower. I bought it this morning and listened to it at work today…it was SO good! I love a great second chance romance.
Leslie M: Ghosted: Those journal entries KILLED me. Her love & devotion and then heartbreak punched me right in the feels. …Ghosted is one of my all time faves!!!
Nay: Let me just say that everyone was so, SO right! Ghosted is RUINING me–and I LOVE it!

Cheryl: Long Shot by Kennedy Ryan. For a “sports” story it was angsty. Reminded me of how I felt reading Thoughtless. …When I say felt like when reading Thoughtless, I mean the angst of love and relationships/love triangles and damn a sh!tload of complications/roadblocks to that love.

Reader Question – Any recommendations for Stockholm Syndrome books that don’t necessarily end in an HEA?

Charlene is looking for a very specific “Dark” genre… and oooooohhhh yes! I LOVE going through that whole “in love with a very bad guy” dark kind of story, and having no clue how it’s going to end. There are a few that end *ahem* in a loving way, for sure, but not all of them do. All that attachment and wanting to please (even if it’s so wrong) and in the end…?

Hrmmmm… I certainly have a few that come to mind!! Okay I’m going to dig into my reviews, and see what I can pull up, but BEWARE!!!!! These recommendations are sort of “spoilery” in that Charlene is looking for a particular kind of ending. We might not know exactly how it ends (twists etc), but if it’s recommended here, there’s a chance it doesn’t end sweet. Er… well, I guess it depends on the character. 😉

Hello! I’m hoping someone can recommend some books to me. I was so excited about this list because I love smart, dark novels (so many novels feel like they only go skin deep with their characters and everything is so ‘wholesome’).

I would love to read a novel about Stockholm syndrome, but I am more interested in the dark elements and exploring the thought process of the characters, and would prefer it be less focused on erotica and romance.

I could see myself being disappointed if it ends as a “happily ever after” and the guy never gets what he deserves. I’m worried these seem more romance focused but I’m not sure.

Can anyone please make a recommendation? Thank you so much!

Amy: How about Stolen by Lucy Christopher.

Robyn: Yes! Stolen. Grrr on that ending. I’m the opposite, I like HEA endings. I can’t help with any because of that! LOL

Dee: I’m a third for Stolen.

Leslie: I have Stolen on my “do not read” for the same reason! ;)

Maryse: Leslie, you’re missing out!! Stolen is one of my absolute FAVORITES!!!!

McKenzie: Born to be Bound (Alpha’s Claim Book 1) by Addison Cain. It’s SUPER dark (too dark for me, tbh) and has a captive/captor plotline as well as some paranormal/dystopic elements. Enjoy!

Joy: Addison Cain’s Alpha’s Claim series. It includes Born To Be Bound, Born To Be Broken and Reborn. The story continues with Stolen (Alpha’s Control Book 1). There’s also her new series, which is a reverse harem titled Branded Captive: A Reverse Harem Omegaverse Dark Romance (Wren’s Song Book 1). I read that first and got hooked on Addison Cain. Then I went on to devour the others that I mentioned.

Maryse: I LOVED that one… and that ending, I guess, can be up for interpretation. 😉

Helen: The Tutor by K. Larson

Amy: Oooooooh…right up my twisted, non-traditional alley!! How about Held by Edeet Ravel? Maryse recommended this one to me because of the Marmy-ish ending, and it did NOT disappoint.

All I will say about the ending is it is…different. SO different. I flipped out. I freaked out. Told “them” they were wrong. So wrong. Weren’t they? My tummy still turns when I think about it.

Hi all I have been so busy I have not been able to read for a while and every time I do pick up a book I lose interest quickly. Seems like the same plots just different characters. I am going on vacation and I want a book that is unputdownable 😉

Like the old days, Bones and Cat, Slammed, Thoughtless those are just a few that popped in my head. I have read so many great books!
I just want to get my love for reading back and take a break from the real world. What are some of the best books you all have read lately and would recommend.

Okay I’ll go first! :D!!!

I want to mention two of my latest 5-stars
Transcend (The Transcend Duet Book 1) & Epoch (The Transcend Duet Book 2) by Jewel E. Ann <— I found this duet to be incredibly unique and I couldn’t put it down – plus that incredible love triangle had me hooked (I was in love with both, and it was angsty as anything!!),

and
My Oxford Year: A Novel by Julia Whelen <— LOVED LOVED LOVED it (5-stars PLUS!!).

I felt like I had a new fun family, and the romantic tension was off the charts with one particular professor. 😉 But best yet? It had me gasping and crying and totally feeling it, through and through.
I also hear (and it’s at the top of my TBR list) that the “The Ribbon series” by Pepper Winters is unique and utterly addictive. I think that’s next for me. I need addictive!!

Okay now you guys… what do you recommend a recent-ish ultimate 5-star favorite?

  • Roam series by Kimberly Adams <— ” I love everything about these books and don’t forget there is a spinoff series called Fire Ballad. Read Roam and let me know if you fell in love with them also.”
  • Jack & Jill series by Jewel E Ann….really any of her books are gold!
  • The Idea of You: A Novel by Robinne Lee <— “…That book! GAH! I just can’t get started on that again.”
  • Unbreak My Heart (Fostering Love) by Nicole Jacquelyn <— “…my favorite angsty, mean jerk book… How can you top Shane’s crazy?! One of my most favorite books!”
  • The Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard <— “Victoria Aveyard has a gift for writing. Her words and story flow so easily. I love a book where I can just read, not having to stop for grammar or continuity mistakes. I got so involved with the h, Mare’s cause and all the people she pulled into it with her, especially Cal, the H. These books had everything in them that I love, except sexy times, which were only alluded to because this is a YA book. That was okay because there was so much other stuff going on that kept me enraptured. Beautifully written series, I highly recommend it!”
  • The Tainted Accord series by Kelly St. Clare <— “I’m reading the last book of the Tainted Accords by Kelly St. Clare and I don’t want them to end. These books are that good! … I got my groove back with these beauties!”
  • Dartmoor series and Sons of Rome series by Lauren Gilley <— “Lauren Gilley and her Dartmoor series is the BEST!”

Nicole: Take Me With You by Nina G. Jones. Pretty heavy, dark, twisted and I can’t believe I loved it – but so good! My latest 5 star read. *peaking my eyes out from behind my shirt collar*

Leslie M: Some unputdownables I have read this year:
 
Nay: I enthusiastically second Waiting for the Sun, All Your Perfects, and The Idea of You. (I just finished The Idea of You today).

Kathy P: The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. Really good!!

Nay: All of these are on my favorites of the year in which I read them list.

If you love the forbidden/taboo (age gap and student/teacher type), I inhaled Lessons In Corruption (The Fallen Men Series Book 1) and Welcome to the Dark Side (The Fallen Men Book 2) (Fallen Men 1 & 2) by Giana Darling. And both books in the Off Balance series: Balance and Execution. LOVED, LOVED all 4 of those!!
 
Another I loved is Karen Cimms’ Of Love and Madness series. Some of the most wonderfully angsty books I’ve ever read, but those also handle some pretty heavy stuff, so if you have triggers, I’d check the reviews.
Also couldn’t put down Drive by Kate Stewart. That’s not ‘lately’, but it was so good that I had to mention it!

Sandi: I just read the Charley Davidson series a second time, I can’t wait for the last one. Others I couldn’t put down, I may be a little late reading some of them but good just the same

 

Steph: I second “The Idea of You” Not recent releases but I just read (All 5 ***** from me):

Jezebel and oh m gee.
Atticus: A Woman’s Journey with the World’s Worst Behaved Dog was a fun read.
Transcendence was different

Jen C: I’m SO late to the party reading it but I finally read The Hating Game: A Novel by Sally Thorne a couple of months ago and it was my fave read of the year so far.

They’ve been my can’t-put-down-5-star-reads for me so far this year!

Andrea: Any book by Mariana Zapata or Jewel E. Ann. I am so happy I found these two authors!

Joy: I read a ton of really, really great, unputdownable books this year! I’ll try to keep it short and give you a few that I’ve read more than once.

 


Kim: The Simple Wild: A Novel! K.A Tucker does it again and better!

Etsun: Ohhhhh… goody.

 

  • Grip and Still by Kennedy Ryan (I don’t know why many haven’t read this, bit I think I can honestly say it is one of the best books I have read. Also FYI they are two books )
  • 2nd The Ribbon Duet by pepper is seriously a must read. Explicitly written. It simply is flowless. If you require a good contemporary romance that has well woven background and story line then this is your vice.
  • 3rd The Hating Game by Sally. Is one of the best books IN THE WORLD. You will fall in love with quirky Lucy and swoon for Josh. I have re-read this book at least 6 times and it keeps getting better.
  • 4th One by Jewel E. Ann. This is actually from the jack and jill series. Not sure if you have read it but this one is about the sister Lake and YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE!!!!! In my humble opinion I think it jewel has out done her self in this one.

  • Long Shot: A HOOPS Novel by Kennedy Ryan

Ash: I really enjoyed The Simple Wild – offbeat and even though I hate the cold, Alaska worked for me!Also, if you’re looking for unputdowable paranormal romance – Sarah J. Maas,  A Court of Thorns and Roses. It’s new adult and amazing. Lucky for you the series is complete (3 full books and a novella).

Ashley: A lot of the ones I really liked were already mentioned. I keep looking at everyone’s lists and saying ‘Yes!’ I’ve also done a lot of re-listens; ALL of Mariana Zapatas books, K.A. Tucker’s Burying Water Series, Jana Aston’s books, and a bunch by Penelope Ward.

 

 
Anne: I’m a little late to the conversation but whatever, i owe it to myself to recommend this books heheFirst of all, Arrogant Devil by R.S Grey. So, so good! Contemporary and super funny, a light hearted 5 stars romance comedy.

Then, for a little bit more of angst and drama, The Controversial Princess and His True Queenby Jodie Ellen Malpas. It’s everything and more! A contemporary romance about the forbidden love that blooms between Adeline, the princess of england, and Josh, Hollywood’s latest heartthrob. You NEED to read this one.At least for now, those two where my recent favourites!

Jan: Binding 13: Boys of Tommen #1 is new and good. NA if you like that.
