Reader Question… Solved! The book about a guy who kept a woman captive and she hated him for that…

By 3 Comments

Okay this one is really spoiler-y too, but no worries, I added the alerts so you can stop before the big reveal. It sounds like it ends on a cliffhanger, and if it’s not a cliffhanger, it’s quite the ending!!

Gabby asks:

Hi Maryse, can you help me find this book. I read it I think a year ago or so,

…the book was about a guy who kept a woman captive and she hated him for that,

Booklady: This sounds like Scarlett Edwards’ ““Uncovering You” series”. There are 10 books in the series an final short novella as an extended epilogue.

Ashley: This is not it, but it is along the same lines…The Bad Guy by Celia Aaron. Good book!

Gabby: Uncovering You” series <— This is it!! Thank you so much!

Maryse: YAY!!!! Another one solved (Booklady had it!)… and this one sounds dark-is. YAY US!!! Thank you everyone!!

“…Eight months ago, you were just a soldier about to be deployed and I was just a waitress, sneaking you a free pancake and hoping you wouldn’t notice that my gaze was lingering a little too long.
But you did notice.
We spent one life-changing week together before you left, and we said goodbye on day eight, exchanging addresses at the last minute.
I saved every letter you wrote me, your words quickly becoming my religion.
But you went radio silent on me months ago, and then you had the audacity to walk into my diner yesterday and act like you’d never seen me in your life.
To think … I almost loved you and your beautifully complicated soul…”

HAPPY NEW RELEASE DAY!!! And yet another happy day to me (and many of us) since I LOVE that author to the left, and her latest just went live. Two days in a row… two of my absolute favorites have new releases.

BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order.)

Amy: I’m so giddy over KMLYMI that I have to post it here as well… Yep, I’m falling in platonic love with Gwen. She reminds me of a Tarryn Fisher-type h. She’s broken and imperfect. She’s selfish and yet apologetic. I’ve found my booknip and I am going to enjoy every moment of playing with it.“When I tell you I am the villain, I am not being cute. I don’t want to be cute. I just want to be honest about all of this.” <——— That about sums up the vibe right there.
Nay: Ooh, Amy, I’m looking forward to seeing what you think about KMLYMI–it’s supposed to be super angsty! Since it’s pretty short, I was going to try to fit it in this week IF it’s good and angsty.

  • My Torin by K. Webster <— WE MUST GO IN BLIND!!! And now I wanna read it SO bad ’cause of Jean’s freak-out over it!! 😛

Jean: …One of my favs for the year! A little bit dark, a little bit marmy, a little bit mind f*&k…… yes, it’s that good and it made my heart soar! Check out my review on GR…..BUT you must go in blind. Don’t read any other reviews or spoilers! Many here loved it! And it’s K.Webster….. you never know what you’re going to get. Did you read Whispers and Roars by her? It was unforgettable! I love an author who isn’t afraid to step out of the box!

  • Rise of the Iliri by Auryn Hadley <— ADDICTIVE ALERT!!! Angela found it for us and calls it a hidden gem!
Angela: Ok girl!!! I have the best new paranormal series, the best thing is there’s multiple books published and it won’t leave you hanging!!! Seriously , easily 1000 pages of yummy, addicting book crack!!!  Auryn Hadley is an amazing hidden gem. All of her books I literally couldn’t put down until I devoured them all!!! I started with The Rise of the Iliri, then read Everything I could find from her. This author is the next big thing!!!
  • Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey <— TESSA BAILEY’S LATEST went live yesterday (I’m reading it as we speak!!) and we have feedback ’cause Carla LOVED it!

Carla: I just read two of the best books I’ve read all year. And both were ARCS that come out next week. I was in a major reading slump for the last 6 month and had DNFed everything.
Getaway Girl by Tessa Bailey and Kiss Me Back by Sidney Halston. Both were so good! So. Good. Kiss Me Back had a huge swoony “thing” that I won’t tell you but…my heart! Sidney is back. And Tessa never went away.
Now, I can read again. My slump is over ladies!

  • The Swedish Prince by Karina Halle <— KARINA HALLE’S LATEST RELEASE & now we have feedback ’cause Clara LOVED it (and declares it all short and sweet-like). 😉
Clara: I’ve read it. It’s fabulous, I didn’t want it to end.

Dany Rae Miller – Rough Mountain Bears series reading order, a fun note from the author & a signed book giveaway (both books!!)

By 10 Comments

Who’s in the mood for a super-steamy shifter series? 😉 The author teases us saying “…the love scenes deliciously vivid”!! And, to celebrate the release of her latest book in this series (Hard Wilde), the author is having a signed book giveaway for BOTH books.
Oh and she’s an author after my very own heart!!!!! Just as obsessed as I was over Twilight and Sookie Stackhouse (the catalyst for my reading & blogging frenzy). I couldn’t get enough and I had to read and talk about each and every book.
And Dany Rae Miller couldn’t get enough either. I just love this awesome sneak peek into her new shifter series and exactly what makes paranormal romance “tick” for her! Take a look. I have no doubt you’ll be nodding along with her, as I was. ABSOLUTELY THIS. YES!!

Remember how much you loved Twilight?
Me, too.
I was obsessed with Edward and Jacob. Edward’s initial confused reaction to Belle was intense and endearing. At the same time, Jacob’s loyalty — especially that time Edward ditched Belle — was unwavering. It was the werewolf who showed up for her and that secured a place for him in my heart.
Before Twilight there was a TV shifter named Angel. Just like Buffy, I fell head over heels for the vampire haunted by his poor, cursed soul.
Then, Bill came to Bon Temps to stoke different types of — um — angsty feelings. The Southern Vampire Mysteries bumped PNR to a more mature level. And I loved the steaminess of it.
But binge-worthy PNR isn’t sex for sex’s sake. Not at all. Because — and romance fans know this — great love stories deliver more than great sex. The best stories are hearts-on-their-sleeves, sweet and steamy love that profoundly changes who the characters are and how they see the world.
I want those whirlwind love stories that bloom in the thick of nail-biting drama, mysteries that unfold over entire series, and tough guys who fall hard for women who channel the badassery of Buffy, the smarts of Veronica Mars and a whole-lotta Anastasia Steele’s sensuality.
The kind of series that I plow through as a reader are those connected by characters who influence one another’s lives.
That’s where I come from as an author, too. Those are the kinds of stories I strive to tell.
Did I describe love stories as you like ‘em? Then, I invite you to come meet the Wildes of Rough Mountain. You might just come to love them and the mountain they live on.
Rough Mountain Bears*
Each book in the Rough Mountain Bears series follows the highs and lows of one couple’s story.
They fall in love all the while working through the mysteries, threats, and politics of their respective families, friends, and cultures. You get to know the characters better, because they continue their journeys in one another’s books.

  1. Sin Wilde kicks off the series with a new arrival on Rough Mountain who causes a big stir for him … and his people.
  2. In Hard Wilde (Rough Mountain Bears Book 2), some of the mysteries from book one are solved, others deepen, and new ones are introduced. The book concentrates, though, on the alpha who never wanted a mate in the first place yet falls hard when he least expects it.
  3. Ram Wilde will be book three in the series. [Mouth is zipped … no spoilers … writing it now!]

*Fair warning: Like all Dany Rae books, Rough Mountain Bears is intended for grownups. The language is adult and the love scenes deliciously vivid.

About book #1: SIN WILDE DESCRIPTION

Sinclair Wilde is just your average cowboy bear shifter who takes care of his family and their Rough Mountain ranch.
When the reclusive next door neighbor dies, his oddball last will and testament opens the door to game hunters. If there’s one thing that should unite the ornery shifter species of the region, it’s city folk roaming the mountains with high powered rifles.
Then along comes Fallon White. She has a cat named Butterscotch and legs for miles. Not only does her arrival on the mountain have the potential to save his way of life, Sin’s monster likes her … a lot.
Fallon is a struggling witch looking for a soft place to land. Sin’s seductive aura and the wide open spaces of her late uncle’s property are just what her psyche needs.
But these mountains harbor more than shifters.
The secrets here are deep and dark … one of them so deadly it’s enough to make a witch run, and send your average cowboy bear shifter to the edge of madness.

About Book #2: HARD WILDE DESCRIPTION

Hard Wilde promised himself that he’d never take a mate. It’s just better given the flaws of his bear. And he’s stuck by that vow … until now … until a blood-thirsty angel with fangs shows up on his mountain. She needs his blood to survive and his monster needs to give it to her.
After being bitten by a demon, Emily craved blood so badly, she ran away from home and society … hiding on Rough Mountain … crafting a cure and biding her time for the right moment to reach for it. But one taste of her werebear’s miracle elixir and she wants more.
It’s wrong.
So, so wrong.
Why does it feel so right?

How to enter for a chance to win the signed set? Just leave a comment below (and if you have a favorite sexy shifter, let us know that, too!!) and by 10pm EST, Sunday April 1st 2018, I will randomly select one lucky commenter as the winner.
Also, while not necessary to enter, it would be awesome if you’d share this giveaway on Twitter or Instagram, or Facebook.
The winner will be contacted and will have 48hrs to respond with a mailing address, so if you are picked, do not delay or you will lose your chance. These books will be sent to the winner directly by the author.
Giveaway open to U.S.!!! :D
