Book Review – Unteachable by Leah Raeder

Unteachable
Considering the unconventional and taboo love story (but not too taboo since everyone is legally an adult in this one), this book was right up my alley. It didn’t take much to prompt me to read it, considering what it was about, but the excited recommendations had me scrambling to start it!

Tina: Highly recommend Unteachable! Very well written and easy to connect to. Amazing read!

Book Review – Damaged and the Beast by Bijou Hunter

Damaged and the Beast
This one was addictive!! But it was also (for me) an “I loved him but made excuses for loving him” kind of book. One of those books that I connected to, got all into the “hero” <— (although he’s kinda scary, and not in the acceptable “paranormal” way) but I’m going to admit, I pretty much… loved it as a whole.

However. While I was enjoying the heck out of it (in a total “guilty pleasure” way), I was simultaneously cringing. LOTS. ‘Cause OMG these two were basket cases of co-dependancy. But apparently if written a certain way (and I guess that way must be “intense and obsessed”), I really like that. In books. neutral Books. I know you’ve heard me say that before, but it bears repeating for our new fellow readers that have joined us today. Wouldn’t want ’em getting any “impressions” of me, now would we. 😉 read more

Book Review – Underestimated by Jettie Woodruff

Underestimated: Book One
Crazy-dark read (I liked it!) and it took me awhile but I finally finished it! *phew* I was reading and reading and reading and I looked down and was only at like… 20-something percent, and I wondered if it was just me being slow. Then I continued the next day for hours and hours and was only at 50-something percent. I don’t know why I didn’t bother to check the page count listed on Amazon, ’cause I just checked now at OMG it’s over 500 pages long! Well that explains why it took me three evenings to finish. Reflecting back on it (and the parts I ended up skimming) I think it could (and should) have been condensed. read more

I have spent my wonderful Sunday cozied up with Dex on the couch and I couldn’t have chosen a better man to spend it with. Er… I mean “fictional” man, that is. 😉 *glances at husband*

Been dying to get to this book, but being that it came out just a few days before Book Bash, it just wasn’t in the cards for me. I was green with envy as my fellow Dex-lovers were swooning and declaring their devotion all over again, reading him together and I couldn’t. But I knew I’d have the last laugh. I’d get to be the girl in our group that gets to experience it for the first time (after everyone else has). I’m always a bit jealous of that girl, but this time it was me! razz read more

Book Review – Escape From Paradise by Gwendolyn Field

Escape From Paradise
<— Oooooooooh yesssss!! Dark and uncomfortable, just like I like ’em. And I didn’t feel half as guilty loving this one ’cause it’s everything we kidnap-read addicts love, but with a slightly lighter edge to it. It’s not as harsh, or hardcore, and the human “monsters”, while scary, are just not as intense as some of my nightmare stockholm syndrome books, but this is a good thing.

If you think you might have an inclination for a darker read such as the ones we discuss (like this), but you’re nervous, this might be the one to start with. read more
