This sounds right up my romance/domestic thriller dark alley! I love the whole starting over/hiding out theme (and then meeting someone… and learning to trust again. The dangers… the slow burn. YES PLEASE) This one just gave me a HUGE blurb jolt!

I have been following your blook blog since I was in high school (so almost 10-ish years now), and there’s always a bit of nostalgia every time I check back in to see what reads you have to recommend.
There’s a bit of ebb and flow when it comes to making time for new reads. I finally picked up a book in what feels like forever, and my goodness, do I have a recommendation for you.

I am driving myself crazy trying to remember the name and author of a book I read years ago. I don’t remember a lot unfortunately – but if anyone can solve this – this group can!
It was darker, possible enemies to lovers where the FMC is held in the mansion against her will.
Some members of the family believe she is a witch, and the one scene I can recall, is of her being tied to a large post and then dunked in the lake repeatedly as they’re trying to get her to admit to it, and think if she’s truly a witch she won’t drown.

The h is down bad financially and has no where to stay. She goes to her best friends place who she knows since they were kids – the friends parents either fostered the h or they lived next door to each other growing up.
I remember the friend has a brother who likes the h but it’s not reciprocated. He even try’s to buy her a cellphone for her safety but she doesn’t accept it.
Lisa: I just finished reading an ARC of Lords of Mercy, which is the third book in Angel Lawson and Samantha Rue‘s Dark RH romance series. This series is difficult to put down and is dark, twisty, and has all kinds of things that will keep you on your toes.
Heed the trigger warnings though, as these books can be rough on people.
