Thankfully Reading Weekend!

Thank-300x300I’m trying a fun new activity with a large group of bloggers, that are dedicating this Thanksgiving weekend to reading!

I’ve decided to read as many of the books from “The Others” series by Christine Warren. I have actually started on One Bite With A Stranger (The Others, Book 6), which, in all actuality, as per the author, is the original book#1 (interesting publishing date issues).

I am on page 127. I started the book late last night and read sporadically until 3am (I needed to nap a few times 😉 ), before I finally called it a night and slept for real. I like the premise so far (good girl is enticed by her friends to live a little, and they take her to a bar to meet someone for a “fling”. She meets someone incredibly sexy alright, but he is actually a vampire. Captivated by her, he decides she will be his (forever), and seduces her, all the way to her apartment. read more

Book Review – Sins of the Flesh by Caridad Piñeiro

Sins of the Flesh: Paranormal Romantic Suspense (Sin Hunters Book 1)
This recent release had me entertained. While it did not involve any characters from her other vampire series that I love, it did have an interesting paranormal twist.

World renowned cellist “Caterina Shaw” had gone blind, and was suffering terrible pain due to a dangerous tumor. While her death was imminent, she wanted to live out the rest of her days without the pain that has caused her to quit her music altogether. After agreeing to an experimental gene therapy, that could ease her pain and potentially give her sight back, she realized (after it is too late) that she has signed on for more then she bargained for. read more

Book Review – Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Night Embrace (Dark-Hunter, Book 3)

Wow! I really see what all the fuss is about! This series is fantastic, and anyone that is tempted to judge whether to continue with the whole series or not, from the first book, shouldn’t. While I enjoyed the first book, and was happy to see the characters from the first book continue on through the series, the series most definitely took a more serious turn.

I’m not sure how many will agree with my opinion here, but, I think it’s fairly obvious that if you’re looking for a series similar in tone, to the Black Dagger Brotherhood series from J.R. Ward, this is it! The characters are rich, and all are interwoven in some aspect. Each book allows us to experience the connection between an amorous pairing, but better yet, we are offered the intricate stories of the many characters’ pasts that has ultimately lead them to their current situation. The continuous growth and wisdom that develops through the centuries, for each Dark-Hunter, makes for an alliance of members that complete each other. read more

Book Review – Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, Book 2)

Book two changes in tone slightly, from the first book. While the first was more of a “guilty pleasure” involving two people indulging in each other (a romance novel with a paranormal twist), this one initiates us to a darker world, where humanity is constantly at risk. While the romance aspect of the story is forefront, we are taken on a dark journey through good and evil, and introduced to many key characters to come.

In the Dark-Hunter series, humans have a false illusion of safety, while evil rules in a parallel actuality right here on Earth. Night creatures called “Daimons” (soul sucking vampires) rule the darkness, and steal the souls of humans to extend their own cursed, short lives. read more
