Play for Me: A Novel
Okay so I squirreled, but ONLY temporarily!!! I’m going right back to what I was reading, and boy, after this one? I’m ready for it. Yikes! LOL!!
Why did I squirrel? Well… because there was something about this one that was calling me, from that blurb. Claudia found it (she had been waiting for it to go on sale) and she and I often love the same books (often more serious, deep stories of marital and adulthood angst) so I was especially happy when she pointed it out.
It’s Saturday and time for a new reader favorites list! This one is short and sweet, ’cause, while Vivian’s been with us since 2013 she’s a more “quiet” member. LOL!! Maybe she lurks? ;). That said, we can get to know her through her book list (and book taste), which she’s sent over for us. I also realized… she’s quiet funny!!

“Ehrmagerd! I think my glasses just got all foggy. Hotdamn! Can I please please please have the opportunity to live Rachel’s life for a day or two?! The “I want my dress gone” part just blew me away.”
LOL!!! This one makes me laugh ’cause the bad guys are “gingers”. Tee hee. It’s okay, I’m one too. 😉 Er… a “ginger”… not a bad guy. *snort* 😛
So anyway, this one rings a bell for me but I can’t remember. The thought that comes to my head is Christine Feehan’s Carpathian series, but probably ’cause she mentions the mountains. It’s been years since I gorged on that vampire series, so I can’t be sure…
Am I right, or is it something else?
I just “clued-in” about this series today and the love IS HUGE for it!! Of course, Michelle and Tessa brought it to our attentions months ago! Tessa saying: “Seriously if anyone likes Fantasy, read this series! It’s insanely good.” but I guess I was too busy scoping out the latest human book-bad-boys. LOL!!
Tessa: I devoured those one right after the other. And, book four, Queen of Shadows, is coming out this month! *squees*
M’Leea: I just came across the mention of Sarah Maas… I had been meaning to read her Throne of Glass series, and kept putting it off thinking it is YA and sometime Pg13 can be a little slow-ish. Well, I have been RAVING about ALL of her books since!!!!!!!!! Shouldn’t have waited. Read all her books in a week. Got little sleep. I looooved that her character’s romantic relationships didn’t drive the plot and their sex life didn’t hold the story together. Friendships, courage, survival, absolute strength in adversity with a bit of sass on the side… This is an author whose stories are tightly planned and she delivers each time. She has amazing talent to weave and hide plot elements to enable surprise at that 75-80% mark on the kindle. I cannot rave enough. World building is wonderful – if you love the fantasy genre, you simply must go there.
It’s Friday (YAY US!!) which means a potential full weekend of reading and I have the latest list of new releases, bargain finds AND reader recommendations (even some of the latest releases which they are telling us are tried and true!). Awwwww I LOVE when fellow readers let us know when they love (and find goodies) on these very lists!
