Aimee is looking for recommendations and I LOVE this list already!! 🙂 In fact, it’s what keeps me smiling throughout – hen done right.
She asks:
I recently read a book that had a hilarious kid in it. I am looking for other books with funny kids in them.
Could you help?
And of course I told her Sustained by Emma Chase (SOOOO GOOD – here’s my Book Review. This is a MUST READ!!). In fact, here’s a snippet about the kids from my review:
Maryse: People kept mentioning THE kids. How funny the kids were. How they made this story… more. I can love kids in stories, but I often find kids are a bit over exaggerated in novels (or not quite true – to me anyway – to their age). But not these. And there were SIX of ’em. ABSOLUTE perfection on the “kid-front”. Hilarious, bratty, heartwarming, infuriating, goofy, and everything I expect in a story about a makeshift family that has to adjust in the face of tragedy.
…*snort* GAH the kids!!! :P!!!! So real, so authentic, and with the Jake in their lives… absolutely hilarious.
Leslie M: I loved this one!!! Swoony H and the kids were hilarious.
Sharon: Those kids!
Jan: …I liked Sustained too. Funny, sweet and hot. The kids are cute and so real too.
Any more recommendations?
Jessica: Taylor Delong writes some funny kids, especially in Love Unscripted and Where Forever Leads.
Alexandria: The snarky one-liners that the little girl Luna in my Dating Trilogy say are direct quotes from my daughter. And they’re pretty hilarious. First book is free.
Alexis: Devil’s Angels book 3 (Pooh) by Lola Wright has a HILARIOUS little kid in it! You should read them in order but you can also pick up in the middle, they’re all pretty self contained books. They remind me a lot of the Rock Chick books by Kristen Ashley
Susan: Wait for it by Mariana Zapata! One of my all time faves!!
Maryse: Mine too!!! In fact it’s my very favorite one from her, I think. It hooked me and I cared so much about these characters. Here’s my 5 STAR Book Review.
Jean: Wait For It by Mariana Zapata….. it’s long and I expected the slow burn, but so good. She is amazing with the character development!
Kyla: Staci Hart’s latest: Friends with Benedicts
BJ: Sneaking in to suggest my book, Work in Progress which has a hilarious 6 year old boy in it who’s as much a part of the story as the hero and heroine
Skyla: I don’t really like kids in romance stories — comedic relief or otherwise — but I really enjoyed the FUNNY AF kid in Work in Progress by Bj Harvey.
Carie: The Song of David by Amy Harmon (one of my top 5 all-time fav). She has a younger special needs brother that will make you crack up and fall in love with him
Beth: KC Lynn Men of Honor Series. Book 3 specifically but all the books are fab.
Catherine: Flat Out Love by Jessica Park.
Maryse: YESSSSS! OMG YES!! One of my favorites, and unforgettable!! In fact, here’s my 5 STAR Book Review.
Ivie: It was a great, unique, quirky, sweet, fun, heart wrenching book, and I loved every second of it.
Tracey: Heroes of Trasco County series
Nicole: Eli’s hilarious in A Match for the Cowboy Dad.
Marie: Listen To Me : Read – The Fling By M. Robinson,,,, It was Amazing,,, it was Funny And Sexy and The kids kept Pranking The Girl’s Boyfriend , I loved it !!! I Cried Happy tears at the end, I Fell in Love With This Couple and The Kids
Beth: The Guy on the Left
Joy: this! So funny and such a great book!
Summer: Harper Sloan’s Corp security the second book in the series has a funny kid..
Katelyn: Meet Me Halfway Danielle Lagasse
Haley: Meet me halfway – Dee Lagasse
Kati: Slammed by Colleen Hoover!!! YOU!!! LOL
Maryse: ABSOLUTELY THIS ONE!!! Here’s my 5 STAR Book Review!
Shaleen: Yes, I thought Slammed was pure genius, especially for a first time writer.
Leslie M: Slammed….*happy sigh*
Will Cooper…*swoon*
I butterflying love that book!! Seriously, it is a must read for all.
Magan: Tara Sivec’s Seduction and Snacks series
Maryse: Absolutely YES!!!!!!! Here’s my 4.5 STAR Book Review of book #1!
Jen: yeah, Gavin makes me not so afraid to have kids… If I can have one like him that would be awesome!!!
Carie: that is exactly the one I was trying to think of!!! Freaking hilarious!!
Taylor: Fave!!! ❤️
Dina: And soon it’s going to be made into a movie. So excited!!
Kat: Yes this is the one I was coming to suggest!
Toni: Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec. Snort out loud funny!
Keighly: Laughed all the way through but found the story so sweet to. I want a kid like Gavin!
Angela: I love Gavin!!!! He reminds me a lot of my daughter who is also 4.5, a parrot that repeats all the bad stuff people say at the most inopportune time, and says the most inappropriate things sometimes and all I can do is laugh! For example, yesterday she said to me “If Daddy’s boobs get any bigger is he going to have to borrow your bra?” We were out to ice cream with both our families…who all got a good chuckle out of it…him not so much!!
Kelli: Kid was a crack up! laughed out loud all night…poor hubby 😉
Kim: OMG I loved the part when Carter first meets Gavin and Claire’s Dad, George, I laughed so hard. I don’t like to be spanked- teeheee!!!
Kim: 🙂 Gavin wow the things that came out of his mouth 😯
Lora: Boomerangers by Heather M. Orgeron
Yamara: i second this
Taylor: I’m gonna have to third this!!! 💯
K. Street: I’ll 4th it!
Angie: I’ll 5th it!
Adelya: My newest does! Fragile Pieces: A Second Chance Romance (Fragile Hearts Series Book 4)

THE TAKEOVER by TL Swan
They are complete opposites that are attracted to each other. He is single player, while she is a grieve-full widow with three fatherless boys. Fletcher is seventeen and Clare’s personal bodyguard. Harry is thirteen and struggling, and always in some kind of trouble. Then there is Patrick, just nine years old. He is sweet, gentle & sensitive. We must not forget the dog Wolfy and the pussycat Muff. A lot of hilarious baggage for one man to take on. Tristen is known for getting what he wants and what he wants is Clare with all of her baggage. There is so much fun in reading this book, but just as much heart-ache that you will fear they will never find a happy ending. I enjoyed reading this book very much.
First Lady by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. The widow of the President escapes her lonely life for a little while on a fun secret road trip. She ends up travelling in a Winnebago type thing with a nice guy (of course) and two charming and funny kids. The sullen and mouthy teenager who’s actually nice underneath it all, and the cute toddler. It’s a few years old now, but still a really good read, and the kids make it. Some really funny moments.
Look The Part by Jewel E. Ann is a lovely read. The hero is a single dad with a young teen son, Harrison, who is a bit Aspergers and sometimes has no filter LOL. The characters, including the son, are beautifully drawn.
At Peace by Kristen Ashley. One of her best books IMO. Joe and Vi are lovely together. Violet is a widow and she has two sweet teenage girls who add a lot of feels to this story.
Taming a Maverick (Sterling Shore #11) by C.M. Owens 🔥
(Sean is Maverick’s new funny crazy stepbrother)
The door swings open…
“Can I help you?” a young voice asks, causing my eyes to drop.
A kid. (Sean)
“Is Salem here?” I ask, confused. (Maverick)
His expression changes, his eyes going big. “Are you my daddy?” he asks, excitement in his voice.
The Takeover by T.L Swan. Claire’s kids are awesome!! Made me laugh!!
A little late to comment on this, but The Guncle by Steven Rowely has two hilarious kids. The uncle, GUP (short for Gay Uncle Patrick) is cut from the same cloth as Jeff Lewis (from Flipping Out) and these two kids are the perfect foil for his level of snarkiness. Definitely recommend this book.
