Invincible: The Chronicles of Nick
The publishing agency sent me the second installment in Nick Gautier’s YA life, and I found it enjoyable. While I enjoyed it, it didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat (unless of course, the scene included Ash or Kyrian). They were the scene stealers. Ash and his cocky sense of humor, and Kyrian with his smoldering protector, all around “good-guy” sexiness. Sexiness in a YA novel that focuses on a fourteen year old boy? Well, lemme re-phrase. There is no “sexy” in this book whatsoever, but I used my imagination when it came to the adults ;). And it’s easy with Kyrian. He’s so confident and strong and immortal, and once, he didn’t have his shirt on cause it was early in the morning, so, you see? Imagination 😉 Or was the shirtless scene also in my imagination? Tee hee!!
My Book Reviews
J.R. Ward – Fallen Angels Series Reading Order
I am loving this series so far. Exciting, sexy, and gripping, each book focuses on a couple of characters, but the series, as a whole, forges ahead with a more intricate, deeper story. Oh and, some of her Black Dagger Brotherhood characters have made cameos, and some may even play a larger part, in this series.
Three fallen angels (“bad-boy” types on the outside, but overall, good on the inside) tasked to assist the heavens in the fight between good and evil. Each new installment focuses on one of the 7 deadly sins. As they find the “lost” human and assist them in solving a life problem (and hopefully choosing light over darkness), the angels too, learn some very important and very personal lessons. But the author warns us… good doesn’t always win in this series. I loved the first two books! The intensity, the danger, the romance, it’s all there. Along with the developing camaraderie between the angels, and the surprise twists as the series progresses , you’ll be in for an emotionally charged read.
J.R. Ward’s ENVY Book Cover – GORGEOUS!
Woo hoo!! This is the cover of her upcoming book in the Fallen Angels series – Envy: A Novel of the Fallen Angels – the BEST one yet!
Book Review – To Tame a Highland Warrior by Karen Marie Moning
To Tame a Highland Warrior (Highlander Book 2)
Grimm. I need to make an apology. I adored you. Even though it’s been said that Hawk was the most gorgeous male in in the land, and that despite your lavish attractiveness, you didn’t compare to him, after your book, I beg to differ. I nearly fainted with from the over-intensity of your “floor/break the table” scene and yet, I walked away without a comment.
As I chatted with Lily yesterday, I said:
“I have to write Grimm’s review – I suck – I LOVED his book.”
Latest J.R. Ward News and Insights
Okay…so I’ve been getting a few “news requests” about J.R. and the BDB future and this is what I’ve been able to gather from the latest updates. While this isn’t earth shattering news, I still found some fascinating insights and tidbits into the Black Dagger Brotherhood world, as it stands today. So I thought I’d highlight them here:
- Next book to be released is from her Fallen Angels series —> Envy: A Novel of the Fallen Angels (release date Sept 6th 2011)
- Tohrment’s book is next in the BDB series (April 2012) – in her Barnes and Noble chat, she admits she thought next book would be Mhurder’s, but nope. It’s Tohr’s.
- J.R. comments about her love of rap, and answers her fan’s comments about Manny’s love of metal/rock music (on her Facebook):
“LOL I didn’t make Manny anything- he just is what he is :D”
“…I love rap and hip hop, to me it’s just what speaks to me- it’s good that we live in a culture where we can pick you know?…”
