The Lottery and Other Stories (FSG Classics) by Shirley Jackson <— ONE-CLICK SALE ALERT!!! Oooooh “The Lottery” is on sale right now & I just one-clicked it SO HARD. I no longer have my paperback copy and that story was jaw-dropping. An unforgettable favorite!!

One of my all-time favorite authors and I’ve been reading her since the beginning.I’ve been reading, I’ve been writing about her and her books for years, (whether it was reviews, interviews, fun tidbits, feature spots, that time we trended… and everything in-between) so you know me… I figured I’d compile it all into a nice, comprehensive list! 😉

“Bring Her Back“ <—- Another one I’ve been DYING to see (since I saw the previews at the movie theatre). Touted as the scariest movie of the year, and “OMG THE trauma”, and the “best movie I never want to watch again” and the subject lines to every review I saw about it gave me an absolute jolt of YESSSSSSS SHOW IT TO MEEEEE!!! I was so excited. The title alone had me on the edge of my seat, and this genre of movie is my absolute catnip of all horror movie tropes.
THIS POST IS SOOOOO NOSTALGIC FOR ME because there are many of my favorites that our fellow readers would choose as the ONE BOOK. It makes my heart ache and swoon and soar to remember reading these books for the first time. The feelings they brought up, the memories I have from that time period, that whole time of my life surrounded by new indie books that I could not stop devouring. SUCH HAPPINESS!!!
But! This list is not just “books-that-I-loved” nostalgia because there are quite a few new-to-me recommendations on here too. YAY US!!! And for the latest generation of readers that haven’t read our original indie favorites, PLEASE DO SO!!! I can’t wait to hear your reactions. 😊
Frances is in the mood for books like this, and I know they are incredibly popular. I think it’s because we all need a gentle escape that makes us giggle and warms our hearts and yet is still gently thrilling and mysterious enough to keep us captivated. I GET IT!! And I want some, too.
