Book Review – Devil May Cry by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Devil May Cry (Dark-Hunter, Book 11)
How to review this book…how…how…? Revelation after revelation from the very start, and I have to do this without letting anything slip. Either I was a little dim during the entire series, or Sherrilyn Kenyon is very clever, because I did not see any of it coming!

This is basically “Kat’s” book, and there is much about Kat that we did not know. Her background is quite important in the grand scheme of things. I was taken by surprise when it all came together, and the series became even more complete, in regards to how the different pantheon’s intermixed. Along with Kat & Sin’s tale, we are given a more in depth look into the lives of Artemis, Acheron, and Appollymi (LOTS of good stuff here!!) read more

Book Review – Covet by J.R. Ward

Covet (Fallen Angels, Book 1)
I was thrilled to find out from another blogger that this series occurs in the same area and timeline as the “Black Dagger Brotherhood”series. In fact, one of the characters that we glimpsed in the BDB series (Marie-Terese) is one of the main characters in this book, and we are even granted a quick appearance by Phury (don’t blink or you’ll miss it! – here’s a hint…page 86 ;))

The story begins like this: Jim Heron, working as a construction worker (on repose from a destructive past employment) is working with a crew building a mansion for a wealthy billionaire. One evening, he, and a few members of the crew, gather at a bar, and he reluctantly “hooks up” with a beautiful but apparently emotionally fragile female. Mesmerized by her, he soon realizes she is the lonely girlfriend of the very billionaire he is working for. read more

Book Review – The Dream-Hunter by Sherrilyn Kenyon

The Dream-Hunter
This is book one of a nice “spin-off” from the Dark-Hunters series. While we have been acquainted with Dream-Hunters in past novels, (and a sweet little short story called “Phantom Lover”), we get a deeper involvement into their realm, their rules, and their feelings (for an unemotional bunch, they sure do have lots of feelings). While we are introduced to many new characters, the reader is not completely disoriented, as we are indulged with cameos (specifically Katra, who is an important character here) that help the tale evolve. read more

Quoting a paragraph that perfectly describes Dark-Hunters…

After almost completing the entire Dark-Hunter series, I have earmarked a paragraph (found in “Dark Side of the Moon”) that was an excellent quick description of what a Dark-Hunter is. While the concept has to be repeated in almost every novel (for newcomers picking up a book in the middle of the series), this description just struck me as perfect.

Dark-Hunters were created out of men and women who’d suffered unjust tragedy and who wanted revenge on those who’d wronged them. It was the screaming of their souls that summoned Artemis to them, and if they accepted the bargain, Artemis would bring them back to life and give them twenty-four hours to exact their revenge. After that, they become soldiers in her army that was dedicated to protecting mankind from the Daimons. The nature of their creation guaranteed that all of them had at least one major tragedy in their past. read more

Book Review – Dark Side of the Moon by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Dark Side of the Moon
This was a book I was anxious to read simply due to the dark, mysterious and unbelievably sexy model on the cover. He must have mesmerized me so much, because I accidentally purchased the book twice! In this case I DID judge a book by it’s cover, and it didn’t disappoint.

This book takes place in Seattle, and is about a male Were-Hunter/Leopard named Ravyn who is also a Dark-Hunter (the best of both worlds – although I’m sure he begs to differ). His family want nothing to do with him, specifically because they blame him for the death of their loved ones, and even more so, now that he is a Dark-Hunter (instead of just dead). read more
