A Discovery of Witches: A Novel
This book has me confounded in regards to my stance on the whole thing. Did I like it? Love it? Sometimes both. The book is extremely descriptive. Every smell, sight and memory comes alive with consistent colorful and rich detail. But sometimes (okay, I admit… a lot) it bored me. I’d start fidgeting, and my attention would wane, and I’d be anxious to get back to the stuff that settles me into that awesome slow motion reading I love to do. You know, when the book is so good, it’s almost as if you start reading in slow motion, absorbing every detail, living every moment, heart pounding (in love or in fear). That’s when I know I’m into a book.

Book Review – Fitzwilliam Darcy, Rock Star by Heather Lynn Rigaud
Fitzwilliam Darcy, Rock Star
Enjoyable… but Fitz (and friends) didn’t rock my world. It appeared to have everything necessary for a romance story, but for some reason, I didn’t connect with any of the characters enough to keep me up all night reading. There was that initial “meeting” where everyone feels that certain “something”. Then the getting close, the crushing, and of course… the eventual drama over numerous (and I mean numerous) misunderstandings. Sounds about right… right? But for the most part, it was fast, but it wasn’t furious. Nothing deep, nothing that tore my heart apart, nothing that I became a part of.

Tangled Web
Rock stars!!! I read this one back in July, when I first found all of these undiscovered “rock star” books out there on Amazon and this was fun enough. If I can remember correctly, I got “into” it, pretty much immediately. I do know it provided for a good enough angsty ride, and had a lot of “flashbacks” that helped build the issue that was troubling the characters today.
I thought, okay, this is good, not flipping me out or anything, but I like it enough that I’m happy to see how this turns out. And then BAM! Yup, this was another that went and smacked me hard! It hit me with a shocking part that I totally didn’t see coming. I was all… “UGH!!!” over that part, but I have to confess. It’s because of the crazy unexpected *moment* that I decided I truly enjoyed the book.
Book Review – All the Wrong Reasons by J.L. Paul
All the Wrong Reasons
As we all know, I’m on a personal quest to keep us sleep-deprived at least two or three times a month 😉 It’s hard, though, as the books we’ve been losing sleep over seem impossible to top. But… somehow, we keep doing it, don’t we? Obviously, they exist. There has got to be more out there. All that is required, is that we find them. But I’m on it!
There is nothing better than a full night of sleep… except when one loses sleep over a book. Love that!
Book Review – Under the Cowboy’s Control by Lynda Chance
Under the Cowboy’s Control (Contemporary Western Romance, Texas)
OK. I admit I found this one on another one of my “Travis-like-Beautiful Disaster” quests. I’m still looking for another heart breaker, and I’m bound to find it eventually. And while I liked this one enough to read it from start to finish in one sitting (it’s fairly short, and quite good), I didn’t like it enough for it to make one of my “top lists”. Enjoyable, but it didn’t put me in a tailspin.
