Once Burned: A Night Prince Novel
So…. I liked it, overall. *nods* Vlad was one I was anxiously looking forward to. His quick sarcastic wit, his biting comments (that still made me laugh), his issues with Bones, and especially his ability to connect deeply with those he cares about. Almost as if he was, in his own way, looking to be loved. The many moments he was there for Cat in the past… yep. Cinched it for me. Vlad was scary and dangerous, but there was something almost heartbreaking (or heartbroken) about him, and he was so real to me.

Book Review – Avoiding Commitment by K.A. Linde
Avoiding Commitment (Avoiding Series) —> (side note – this book is no longer available for free on Fictionpress, as discussed in the review below but is now for sale on Amazon).
I’m changing it up a bit! Today’s review features a freebie on Fictionpress! I mean… why not, right? So many of my favorite books originated there (Thoughtless, for example), and if a bunch of my fellow readers are *squeeing* over a story, I MUST read it, too!
And that’s what happened over the last week or so. Francine first recommended it to me in April, via email:
Book Review – The Siren by Tiffany Reisz
The Siren: The Original Sinners Book 1
I actually read this book a few weeks ago, but was at a loss. I took immediate notes but had to take a step back before reviewing. Such a great book, exquisitely detailed, thought provoking and yet… I was left on the outside of it for the most part. Melancholy. That’s what I was feeling once I hit the end. Just… off. No worries, though as it appears there is more to come with this series, so… you know. It’s not over ’til it’s over. Now, that’s not to say that the end is or isn’t a “happy” one… just that I know there is SO much more to explore. Much more to come. If you read it (or have read it) you’ll get what I mean.
Book Review – Eden by Jamie McGuire
Eden (book #3 in the Providence series)
Note: While I tried to keep this review spoiler free (and tried not to talk too much about what happens in this one, exactly), I would recommend those who are new to the series to not read this review yet. Instead, check out my review for book#1 (and the reading order: Providence Trilogy Reading Order).
*squeeeeeee!!!* For those of you who have read this, y’all already know why I’m squee-ing!! The magnificent Jamie McGuire sent me a review copy, and I was delightfully surprised when *ahem* “Aunt Maryse” attended a certain bea-u-ti-ful wedding, in this very book. —–> ME!!! I’m “Aunt Maryse”!! <—– I couldn’t help but grin like crazy and giggle and point it out to my husband like… a million times when I read my “cameo”. Tee hee! I mean.. okay maybe it’s not “me” per se… it is Jared’s aunt (from his human side), but still. How. Cool. Is. That!?
Book Review – Last Summer by Theresa Weir
Last Summer
So awhile ago, I was on a rock star, bad boy book search. Surprised? I knew you’d be! That doesn’t sound like me at all!
*giggle* (by the way…that search helped me create a nice hefty list of rock star reads with definite *squee* potential).
Anyway… somehow, in my search, someone, somewhere, recommended this one. And it must have been one heck of a recommendation ’cause I purchased it in actual print format. I hate holding actual books now. They don’t light themselves. I can’t do “searches” for my favorite parts. Marking my favorite parts requires obnoxious stickies everywhere. What a mess! But I wanted it bad enough that even when I discovered it wasn’t in digital format, and in fact, it wasn’t even in print anymore, I still got it. I had to have it!! So I ordered a used copy. No problem with used. It was the story inside, that I wanted, and I was willing to go “old school” and flip actual pages to get to it.
