Book Review – The Problem with Him by Rachel Higginson

The Problem with Him (The Opposites Attract Series Book 3)
The latest book in one of my favorite series just went live a few days ago, and I had to jump in!!! I have a thing for moody, brooding chefs, and Wyatt was definitely all that.

Plus, it’s completely from the heroine’s POV which I love most. I love “becoming her” and experiencing all of the anguish and excitement through her eyes only. SPARKS FLY (and not always the sexy ones). LOL!!!

So what’s it about?

Wyatt is Kaya’s worst nightmare come true and she has to work under him as his sous-chef. For years they worked side-by-side in the “Lilou” kitchen, read more

Book Review – The One by John Marrs

The One
How could I POSSIBLY resist this one?!!! Don’t let that sinister cover fool you (although of course… that alone pulled me in). This IS a story of love, falling in love, and the dream come true. Well… except for the ones that are NOT “the one”.

It sounds too good to be true, and for many, it proves exactly so. In theory, this should be the answer to the perfect life. No more divorce (or painful breakups), deep love through and through from start to end, your perfect partner. Your proven soulmate backed by science. read more

Book Review – One Week by Roya Carmen

One Week
Oh wow, this one definitely goes there. I love Roya Carmen’s willingness to explore marital strife and betrayal. Going in with eyes wide open at times, but also… that unexpected devastating reveal. She brings the agony, the insecurities and total breakdown, to the forefront.

As readers, we’re appalled by some of the choices made, aching with the consequences, judging every character, and yet as humans, witnessing one of our biggest fears come true, it’s hard to look away and to not let it personally affect us. read more

Book Review – Mr. Right-Swipe by Ricki Schultz

Mr. Right-Swipe
I was intrigued by the premise of this one, and pulled it out of my paperback pile. Yep! I had an ARC, and I was totally in the mood for an “adult” story (and by adult, I mean characters in their late 20s-40s, life already on a roll… or a tailspin). 😉

I wanted something less melodramatic and more… pragmatic. LOL! I dunno.

You know I love my angst and drama, but I was in the mood for something a little lighter with a realistic twist, and I was all to0 happy to jump in. And this one was sort of a rom-com to boot, so the upbeat feel was just what I needed. read more

Book Review – Folsom by Tarryn Fisher & Willow Aster

Folsom (The End of Men Book 1
<—The age of women. And with that… I must say… OMG THAT BIT*H!!!!! OMG OMG! I am furious, incensed and distraught! All of them. Most of them… such a cause, and yet such a scheme. A political, social injustice under the guise of betterment. Life. I’m so mad right now I could SPIT!

Its a full on forbidden-romance, with all sorts of villains and unexpected heroes in the midst of this dystopian, almost-100% female society, that has it ALL together. What happened? They don’t really know, but men died off. All but a precious few, and the male chromosome is hard to reproduce, even with the men that are left. read more
