Black Swan Affair
I had been seeing early excitement over the release of this book, and when I finally looked it up and read the synopsis, I was THRILLED! It gave me and ultimate “blurb-jolt”. Promising pure intense marital (and family!!) drama. OMG that blurb says it all! Plus a potential love triangle to end all love triangles. That, coupled with the reader reactions and skimming LIGHTLY over reviews (I’m always afraid of spoilers), and I knew that I had to read it right away!

Book Review – Evelyn, After by Victoria Helen Stone
Evelyn, After: A Novel
One of the best tales of a character’s “downward spiral” I’ve read all year!! WOW!!!!! It’s considered a psych-thriller, but mostly because we were so busy trying to figure out where this one was going, the entire time, feeling like it could totally blow up in our faces. What was going to happen?!! My lips are sealed, other than I can promise that it will have you addicted, feeling the main character’s every single emotion.
It’s the story of a woman’s emotional, personal devastation, and we get to live it with her, via three dramatic storylines going on at the same time. All interrelated… a domino effect, if you will, and ALL connected to the heroine.
Book Review – Transfer (The Retrieval Duet Book 2) by Aly Martinez
Transfer (The Retrieval Duet Book 2) <— coming out in just a couple of days!!!
What a perfect conclusion to this awesome “duet”. As good, if not EVEN BETTER than #1, and OMG it was everything I have come to expect from this author. Pure incredible build-up to both an addictive romance, AND an action-packed thrill ride. It’s a perfect mix of love story + scary bad-guy, + awesome hero (or should I say heroes)? 😉
Okay now, there’s not much I can say without spoiling book #1, so anyone that hasn’t read Retrieval (The Retrieval Duet Book 1) yet, stop reading this review now, and get cracking! Oh, and… instead, read THIS review. <— This’ll get you started!
Book Review – Retrieval by Aly Martinez
Retrieval (The Retrieval Duet Book 1)
I went into this one on the blurb (and reader recommendations) alone, and I got the surprise of my life! WOW!!!!
Noooooo no… I knew it would be good (great even). That wasn’t the surprise. I’m already a big fan of this author’s other books. She’s able to combine laugh-out-loud humor, great dialogue, believable endearing (and a few hateful) characters with poignant storylines, and true emotions. She doesn’t shy away from pain, and handles it realistically. It makes sense and it feels like real life.
Book Review – Author Anonymous by E.K. Blair
<— Author Anonymous: A True Story JUST WENT LIVE ALERT!!!!
A scandalous, riveting, tragic train wreck of a love story. It’s interesting, very personal and raw and well written… but it’s a freaking train wreck. Right to the very end. Oh yes, my friends. A la “Arsen”, for sure.
Before I knew what was even happening, I was making choices I didn’t even know were choices, and I couldn’t take them back.
But this one’s a true story. Yep. Yet another uncomfortably scandalous read that just… *scratches head* well… had my jaw dropping. Many times. You know what they say. You can’t look away.
