*ooooomph!!!* April 5th… er I should say April “something” has always been one of the biggest book days of the year for me ’cause a new BDB book releases each year, that month. And if I remember right, there was always a new Sookie Steakhouse book that month, too (*sigh* I miss them…).

And today proves to be right on target ’cause not only do we have a new Black Dagger Brotherhood (The Beast: A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood that focuses on one of our FAVORITE brothers – Rhage!! – from our BDB origins), read more

Book Review – She Dims the Stars by Amber L. Johnson

She Dims the Stars
This author has written yet another charming, heartfelt “new adult” book with a touch of angst that we’ve come to love in our sweet-romance repertoire. It delivers that wonderful feel of a mysterious past (with the promise of a big reveal), meaningful connections (whether old or new), plenty of chuckles, and a strength in true friendship, that overcomes all obstacles.

Considering how much I loved “Puddle Jumping” (also by this author), it was already on my TBR list. But when Celeste commented HIGHLY recommending it (and she and I have VERY similar taste in books, and she’s picky, which I love!!), I knew it had to be now! read more

Thanks also to Marina for bringing it to my attention…

“I think it comes out tomorrow if that’s correct?!!! Anyways, it’s by a pseudonym of Elle Kennedy and Jen Frederick: “Erin Watt” and it sounds like a devour in a day book. From what I can tell… super angsty, strong heroine, 5 hot brothers… read more

What is the very first book you remember reading?

April 3, 2016 By Maryse 25 Comments

What is the very first book you remember reading? My mom bought me a whole bunch of adorable hardcover Disney books (CINDERELLA) is the one that stands out most to me in that set – here’s what it looked like! And there are a bunch more of ’em pictured on that same page from my set… I had SO many of them and I miss them. Maybe I should buy a few of those vintage ones that I remember and rebuild my collection).

Those and and two HUGE heavy volumes of the Grimms Fairy Tales and Hans Christian Anderson (I’m still looking for my old original versions of those. Very majestic looking and a perfect set!) Illustrated beautifully, and certainly published with children in mind, but now that I think back to the stories, I gasp!! Some of ’em were a little terrifying! I read them night after night, and stared at the gorgeous drawings and imagined them coming to life. Of course… only the fun ones. 😉 read more
