This one had all the makings of my kind of guilty-pleasure thrill ride! With the whole kidnapping premise, and the forced marriage and living with (and hating) the captor, the unapologetic bad guy. The resistance, the fight and the fear. Finding out WHY he not only forced her from her life, but why she HAD to be his wife, too. Sounded like fun, to me!!

Cheryl: I don’t usually go for the mobster story, but couldn’t resist with all the positive recommendations.

Anne: Just finished Sparrow and loved it!! The H was such a jerk but I fell so hard for him. The h was wonderful too! 5 stars from me. read more

Friday Finds – New releases & five-star reader recommendations!

Okay… so… you know how this past Tuesday’s “new release” list was great, not only from the ones that we were expecting and highly anticipating, but especially for the ones that were totally new-to-us? Well, I just realized a bunch of us jumped into those “new ones”, and I’ve been getting some EXCELLENT feedback on ’em. I love when we discover the “new-to-us” books and they end up rocking our worlds!

So this is going to be a list of the latest releases & bargain finds, yes, but it’s especially a list of reader recommendations. 😀 And yes… I’m *squirreling* ’cause these recommendations have me too excited (an uber-jerk is on the list!!! :D). read more

Another “guess the book” reader question, and this time, we’re helping Nikki.

This is another that I brought to our Facebook crew, and we’re still in limbo, so maybe someone here knows? I know I’ve certainly got a new one on my TBR list from the suggestions below. 😉 At least that. But maybe we can guess some more?

It sounds like one I read… but not quite the same details:

Nikki: I can only remember a small part, possibly inaccurate frown emoticon Girl is rushing across the street with a coffee and almost gets run over and spills it on her white shirt. The guy in the car has his driver pick her up a new shirt. I think he may be a teacher or owns his own company. He has her meet him or he takes her to his office to give it to her. Reader Question – The book about the bad-boy bartender and the girl he partnered up with in his business course…

Another “Guess the Book” question!!! You guys recently helped Sue find a title to a book she was looking for, and she’s back with another one!!

Sue asks:

“It was regarding a bad boy slightly older H that lived above a bar & worked there. Here was going back for his undergrad. The h needed to take 1 business related course before she graduated. They get partnered up, butt heads, insert background related angst, etc, etc, etc.

Here is what I remember about the book Maryse. It does kind of sound a lot like most books out there, but hopefully someone can help.
– H is a little bit older than the traditional college student
– H lives and works above a bar. He is majoring in business (I believe) so he can eventually takeover the bar.
– H has had some sort of tumultuous past to create the bad boy that we all know and love.
– h has to take 1 business class before she can graduate.
– they end up being partnered up doing a final project together. He wants to do the business plan on the bar. She wants do it on an oncology center for her father. “ read more

Mafia book lovers… Michelle has one for us!!! This one sounds pretty crazy (and good) but she only read the blurb and forgot the title and she wants to read it!

“I read a blurb awhile ago. Daughter of mafia type family. Arranged marriage. At first the guy was nice. The blurb ended with her husband allowing his brother to have sex with her. ???? Any clue?”

Anyone?
