The Wall of Winnipeg and Me
I know… at first the title totally threw me off. When it comes to this author, I’m always a little perplexed (yet intrigued) by her title choices, and they end up making plenty of sense. But this one makes ALL the sense in the world when you realize “The Wall of Winnipeg” is the nickname of a HUGE 6’4″ 250lb+ football hero (who’s actual name is Aiden). So yes, my friends, we get to fall in love with a sports star, and BOY DO WE EVER!!!!
Reader Favorites – Dina’s List of “Ten Books that Stayed with Me…”
This is a recent contribution by Dina, on an older list that I posted a few years ago, of the books that have “stayed with me” all of my reading life (and not just this most recent reading-frenzy books that I go crazy over now). These are the ones that “made” me a life-long reader.
You’re gonna see some oldies but goodies on these lists (today… and upcoming!!)
Maryse’s own personal note: Some sure-fire classics on this particular list (OMG the Thorn Birds BLEW MY MIND when I was… what? 7 or 8 years old?? Yes, I was allowed to watch that crazy drama on TV and was HOOKED and don’t even get me started on Flowers in the Attic. Again… another read that I read maybe wayyyyyy tooooooo young and maybe was a bit too much for a young teen, but that I devoured).
Friday Finds! New releases & five-star reader recommendations…
A few new releases and bargain finds AND awesome sounding recommendations start our weekend off just right! BUT!! I’m finishing one up as soon as this list is posted and I’m loving it so hard, I can’t WAIT to get back to it… The Wall of Winnipeg and Me is EVERYTHING I had hoped for from another Mariana Zapata read and right now? I may be loving it even more than Kulti…
Maryse: I’m loving The Wall of Winnipeg and Me… I’ve just been conking out too early at night this week so I’m only halfway through it (but I think it’s an extra-long book so that explains it), and I’ve been hooked from the very start. I LOVE how she writes, I love how her heroine thinks, I LOVE that it’s only from her POV, and I LOVE that he’s true to his grumpiness, and I LOVE that it’s yet another super-slow burn, ’cause it makes it SO MUCH FUN!!!!
Reader Question… Answered – The BULLY book with her guy best friend and his best friend that hates her…
One more reader question that HAS been answered, and it’s one I REALLY enjoyed, so I thought I’d post it, in case y’all missed this one. 😉
Nancy asked on our Facebook:
Hi Maryse!
Need some help on a book I want to re-read but can’t remember the name! It’s def. a bully book.
It’s set in college, and she goes out with his best friend, a golden boy of sorts. Meanwhile the bully is a druggie/alcoholic bad mouthed but sarcastic type. In it she helps him after…
Reader Question – The book about the hero that gets attached to her kids…
I have another “Guess the book” reader question, and this time, it’s Marina that thinks she may be mixing up three books into one? So she wants us to help her sort ’em out. 😀
She asks:
“So my mom just asked me to remind her what Sustained was about and as I was explaining it to her I realized that I was confusing or combining 3 books together. I’m losing my mind…
Sustained is the book where the main single/player guy gets attached to the woman and her kids at home.
