*slight spoiler note* —> If you haven’t read the first one, hold back from this review, for now. Here’s my review for book #1 (Slave).
The most gentle one of all, in my “dark reading” week, so far, but still, the subject matter is similar. It’s just the other side of the unwilling “Slave” spectrum. The healing side. And I sure can appreciate a book like this, after the book I read last night. Eeeeep!!! (more about that one, later).
The following is a scene from the upcoming Experiment in Terror compilation novel, The Dex-Files. This novel consists of short stories and scenes from Dex Foray’s point-of-view and as a special treat for Maryse and her readers, I’m giving you guys a certain scene. Out of all of them, this one was one of the ones readers were clamoring for the most – the strip club scene.
If you haven’t read up to Dead Sky Morning (#3), I suggest you don’t read this. Spoilers abound, and all that. But if you have read Dead Sky Morning and beyond, and you always wanted to know what was going through Dex’s head when he took Perry to that strip club, well read on…

“Where are we going?” Perry asked from beside me, taking in the sights of the city. They weren’t too pretty at the moment. Granville Street was Vancouver’s entertainment district, which meant street punks with suspiciously acquired dogs, pushy homeless people, jonesing drug addicts and stumbling, drunken idiots in Tap-Out shirts. Not to mention the Canucks had just won the hockey game against the Rangers, so everything was multiplied by a billion beers and douchebags.
RWA Edition? Yep! The RWA (or Romance Writers of America) convention is going on in New York, and author Caroline Hanson (from the “Valerie Dearborn” series) has offered to get us some fun and quick interviews! How awesome is that!?? We’re changing the regular interview format a little, keeping the questions light, easy and pertinent to all authors. I can’t wait to see who she interviews. I LOVE surprises!

Slave (Finding Anna)
Here is another book that, once upon a time, had me hesitating, worried that perhaps it might be *too dark* for me. Well… that was before. When I was still in my “dark reads” closet. But the sequel to this book shall be released any day now, and when the publisher sent me both of them for review purposes a couple of weeks ago, I was excited. Nervous, but anxious for an unusual thrilling read. I read them both over the weekend, and surprisingly, they are really not dark at all (well, at least in comparison to Captive in the Dark and the like).
While I prepare another dark review, so that we can continue our “dark reading” week journey together, I thought I’d put up a quick list of today’s book releases. Next week is going to be a bigger release day, but there are still some good ones on here, today!
