Monday Early Bird Book Releases – 08-14-2023

HAPPY MONDAY NEW RELEASE DAY!! I’ve made a nice list of books that just went live early and I’m still building. 😉

THREE THINGS:

1.) I wish it would rain. I always joke that it never rains in Bradenton, and this year it’s proving true. Ugh! My beautiful trees and plants need some daily evening-rain love. We completely missed our rainy season this year.

2.) Have I told you that my super-smart half great-dane/half English mastiff dog knows how to open our sliding glass door? The one he goes out of to pee. Well, he now opens that door up to run after birds in our yard. BRAT! read more

Book Review – An Honest Lie by Tarryn Fisher

An Honest Lie <— This one was a solid slow burn of a thriller, with a twist on the villain (or should I say… villains?). 😉

What I especially enjoyed was the little reveal about 10% into the story, that I was not expecting at all. It had me even more excited to read it, and we get to re-live it, throughout the book (past and present) with the heroine. It’s a nightmare situation (at least, to me it is) and totally my book catnip. I am hooked on books with this trope. You’ll see. 😉 read more

Friday Finds & Reader Recommendations – 08-11-2023

HAPPY FRIDAY & HAPPY WEEKEND!!! I’m still building our mega-list of Friday Finds, but it’s already beautifully started. What do you have planned this weekend? I’d say a nice loooooong walk on the beach but it’s been so incredibly hot this past few weeks, I’m not sure if I’m up to that. I WILL be lounging and reading.

<— In fact, I’m currently reading this one (A Twisted Love Story – a new release that I missed last month and that I saw on my Facebook feed, that’s right up my alley!). I one-clicked it, price be damned once I read that blurb! It has that Tarryn Fisher character feel, and I’m into it!! 😉 It’s from both POVs, both characters are hard to love, but especially her (yet sometimes I recognize myself, anxious-attachment wise when she starts internally flipping out about her relationship). Reader Question – The book about the girl who left her abusive ex, but has to go back and live with him due to his mental health…

Courtney needs our book help! Yikes!!!! This book would scare me, truly. Escaping abuse is a dream come true, so having to go back to that situation sounds like a nightmare to me.

Although… it almost sounds like Beautiful Disaster. 😉 Just sayin’ (I dunno that I’d say he was abusive… more like controlling and out of control in his jealousy).

But you know, his whole breakdown when she left, and needing her with him, and his best friend dating her best friend, and everyone wanting them together etc etc… And boy did I love that red-flag laden disaster! What a story. read more
