I’ve received some adamant recommendations for Judith McNaught‘s historical romance reads (not just for “best historical” but for some of the BEST love stories altogether – and she also writes contemporary romance). She’s HUGELY popular, and considered one of the best-of-the-best in this genre. For any of us (me included) that wanted to delve into historical love stories, SHE is one of the main authors that everyone seems to direct us to!
My Book Reviews
Book Review – Pull Me Close by Sidney Halston
Pull Me Close: The Panic Series
I loved it! I’d been hearing plenty in regards to how it was a must-read (so I one-clicked it!!), and that we should go in blind, because of a few twists that give this story that extra-oomph that we don’t see coming. And I wholeheartedly agree! It ALL fits, it’s all emotionally real, and honest in its delivery, and for real? It felt like I KNEW these characters by the end. All of them. Not just the main ones.
I will absolutely be reading book #2 (but no worries, this one stands alone and is replete with everything we need and love in our romances).
Book Review – Hausfrau by Jill Alexander Essbaum
Hausfrau: A Novel
One of the BEST, controversial books I’ve ever read (easily 5 stars for me!!!), and for all of the best and worst reasons. It’s no wonder its been touted as best read of the year by so many of the BIGGEST magazines and review columns, and yet… vilified by others. This is NOT an easy read, and by the end, I was a mental and emotional mess.
My book-twin, Amy INSISTED that I read this. She loves the crazy-angsty, who-knows-how-it-will-end ones like I do, and she bought it for me. She knew I could handle this.
Reader Favorites – Leslie’s Favorite Low Angst Romance Books
YAY!! This is Leslie’s first “Reader Favorites” list submission. She’s been here since 2011, but has just started chatting regularly with us. (YAY Leslie!!! :D).
In fact, she officially joined us when she was asking for book recommendations just like what were finding on THESE “low-angst” lists!
“Ok, coming out of lurking as I need your help. WHAT TO READ?!?! Looking for something swoony & fun.
Doesn’t have to be comedy, just nothing depressing or overly emotional (Def NO death books/tearjerkers like some of you like. Hee hee).”
Book Review – Black Swan Affair by K.L. Kreig
Black Swan Affair
I had been seeing early excitement over the release of this book, and when I finally looked it up and read the synopsis, I was THRILLED! It gave me and ultimate “blurb-jolt”. Promising pure intense marital (and family!!) drama. OMG that blurb says it all! Plus a potential love triangle to end all love triangles. That, coupled with the reader reactions and skimming LIGHTLY over reviews (I’m always afraid of spoilers), and I knew that I had to read it right away!
