Book Review – An Exaltation of Larks by Suanne Laqueur

An Exaltation of Larks
<— IT’S LIVE!!!!!! AND OH. WOW!!!!!! What an exquisitely detailed family saga, unfolding from (and into) an epic love story. This author charmed and seduced me with her prose, but she consumed me with the portrayal of her life-like, emotional characters, weaved together by happenstance, forever connected by fate. But even more so… by love.

Highly recommended by a few of my trusted, beloved book-buddies, I just KNEW I would go crazy for it!

Imposter: A blockbuster suspense thriller <— IT’S LIVE!!!!!

Oh YAYYYYYYY!!!!! *jumps up and down clapping wildly* <— That was EXACTLY my reaction when I found out K. Larsen (author of my beloved jaw-dropper “Jezebel“) was releasing yet another “mysterious-thriller” book.

Maryse: OMG I LOVE K. Larsen and I want to read this one badly!!!!!

Would it be a psych-thriller, and if so, on what level? Would I be scared? Would I be shocked? Would I guess it one way, and it turn out to be another? My lips are sealed. Well… sorta. 😉 read more

Behind the Books – Author Skye Warren shares her favorite books with us!

Skye Warren (one of our QUEENS of “Dark Love Stories”) has JUST released a book yesterday! To the Ends of the Earth: A Stripped Standalone has that dark edge to it (it sounds awesome!!). I’ve been a HUGE fan of hers for years now, because she takes me there. Her stories both hooking me, and taking me out of my comfort zone all at the same time, and they stay with me long after I’ve reached “the end”.

I’ve always wondered what HER favorite books were. Those that she absolutely loved (dark and otherwise). After all, she’s a reader, too, and she’s commented many times right here, recommending, or just joining in on our enthusiasm and love for a specific book. Book Review – Girl Underwater by Claire Kells

Girl Underwater
A survival-against-all-odds situation merging into a potential love story that develops ever so subtly. So subtly, in fact, that while you have a feeling that a bond will be forged forever (an obvious bond due to tremendous circumstance), I didn’t became fully invested in them. Normally, a story such as this one would keep me reading late into the night, unable to put it down, but this one was… slow going. Hesitant, and confusing as we switched back and forth on the timeline (annoying me, because I KNEW what timeline interested me the most. And we didn’t spend enough time there for me to fully connect). read more
