Get Maryse’s Book Blog updates delivered by email (you’ll get one daily email that will have each post from that day consolidated on it).
Fractured by Suzanne Wright was also released today!
YAY!! Thank you Brooke! I’m adding it. 😀
*hides* It’s Christmas time! Why so many good books? A prior bully book? *grins* And it’s KU? *squees* Thank you Maryse!
Oh my goodness…I’m clicking Kandace and the Beast first and foremost. I absolutely love that the proceeds go to help with her medical expenses. If everyone who comes here clicked on it, imagine how much she could be helped! Cancer is an a$$hole and can just suck it.
Kandace, if you see this…*big huge squeeeeeezy hug!!!*
LOL Tessa!!!
Merry Christmas!!! *snort* 😛
WE LOVE KANDACE!!!
The first 4 books in K A Unfinished Heros series is on sale!
Laura Kaye’s Hearts in Darkness is $.99 right now
OH YAY LAUREN!! YES! I’m adding it.
I totally recommend the audio version of Blood Kiss. Jim Frangione rocks!
and, yup, I already got Kandace and the Beast when it was added to Monday’s blog post. Of course!
Other than that, I tryiiiing not to click too much. I need to put a small dent in the dozens of purchases I’ve made in the past couple of weeks.
I’m reading Santino Hassell’s novels right now and, daayyyaamm, that man can write. His books suck me right in and I’m immediately connected to the characters. If you like mm stories, try some of his.
I’m venting. Why do authors not keep up their websites? Are FB?
Poor marketing on their part. I just found two pre- orders on Amazon tor Karina Halle. I saw nothing on any site about these books!
Thanks to Maryse for gettng info out for us.
Thanks you for listening.
My pleasure Theresa. And thank YOU for commenting when you find the upcoming news. You are also helping ME keep up. 😀
I’m reading Lawless (King #3) – the once about Bear. I do think it can read as a stand alone, of course if you know who he is you will feel stronger for him having read the first two (which were about King and Doe). It’s getting through my “gritty” fix.
Nothing has hit the mark quite as much as Last hour of Gann. Still on my mind, that one. Miss my lizard man.
I’m off for two weeks after Friday, so I plan to get caught up on all your great reads and recs that I have missed over the last couple of weeks. Yipee.
Hi maryse ,great book list , but I just found a pre order by JA Huss, called HEA , sort of sounds like the end of all the Rook and Ronin stories.
Hi MichelleS, you don’t come by often enough any more. 🙁
You might like They Who Fell. It may be along the lines of TLHoG. Not the same story of course. I read it last week and really liked it.
Fabi – hey there my friend! Miss chatting… so this “They Who Fell” – is it the trilogy about the fallen angels? You liked it? Are you going on to book two?
My plan is to read Illuminae over holidays off (I know, I know – I’m an idiot for waiting. But I don’t have that amazing hard cover version).
Then I need to read Tangled.
Then I want to read something in a series favorite to revisit old friends, or something really really amazing, 5 star, you know? I’m hoping Maryse hits the motherlode soon and finds an OMG 5-star put-down-what-you’re-reading kind of book!!! Happy Birthday to me if that happens.
Amy – you gonna read Tyrant (King #2) so you can get to Lawless?
One-clicking for Kandace and sending her love and strength.
What an awesome way to support her Shay Savage!!
Yup, that’s the one MichelleS. I also read the 2nd book but the 3rd one isn’t out yet. I liked the first one better but that’s typical in a trilogy.
Sounds like you have your holiday reads lined up! I have to turn in the last of my grades on Friday. *huge sigh* I’m cutting back on work beginning in January. This last half of the year has been nuts for me.
Oh MichelleS, if you miss TLHoG read Land of the Beautiful Dead! It’s equally amazing and has the disfigured hero you love 😉
oh…do you follow the Cat and Bones series? A new is is coming out soon. It’s listed in the pre-orders above.
Cancer is a beast. Sending good wishes and positive thoughts.
MichelleS you need to read Act Like it and Dumplin’.
No lizard men, though.
One clicked for Kandace. Mad props to you for fighting the fight. Thanks to your list I got Aftermath, the Bella Jewel, and two KA on sale that I had on an old e reader so I can remember why I hate Nick so I can love him when Seabring is released. Thanks girls for being here- this group makes me lol on the daily.
Very Worth a try! out on the 17th December by Freya Barker, Like Arrows. I won an ARC , yah, 10 days or so ago. The writing was good and the story line was engaging. I really like the way this author consistently writes mature adult ‘real’ people romance with out too much stereotyping.
I think I completed two books off the book challenge I was going to do, lol. And now new ones are going up for 2016.
I saw one on a blog that is a tbr challenge. So every month you pick a book from your tbr that matches that theme. I think I need to do one like that to actually read some of these books I have.
Megan, all of the K.A books in that series is on sale. So 4 books for like $8. Good deal.
Bev…Im liking the sound of that challenge. I need to make wading through my huge file of unread books the priority in 2016. I know I’ve got some absolute gems in there waiting to be read, I just keep getting side tracked by new releases and pre-orders.
I think Creed is maybe my favorite K.A. book ever! I know, that’s saying a lot, but it’s that good!
We should make up a tbr challenge here. We would at least read 12 books out of….*cough cough*
Amy could keep track on one if her spreadsheets, lol.
I keep buying rec and ones on my wish list if they come up on a sale. Plus my pre orders of my musr read authors. I’m buying faster than I can read.
We need an intervention! Who said “bookaholics”?
Speaking of reading old buys…I finally got around to reading Bully by Penelope Douglas…I love it and bought it TWO YEARS ago! I didn’t want to start the follow up book from his POV so I read the new release by the same author, Corrupt, and liked it even better. Love reading gems in my TBR list and reading new releases.
And MichelleS I second The Land of The Beautiful Dead! Great read…and don’t forget Heat by the same author…great reads.
Hi Theresa….my name is Lisa and I AM a bookaholic and yes I need an intervention. I have downloaded two books today and I’m feeling an urge to download more!!! It’s been 2 hours since I last read. Help.
I read Hearts in Darkness YEARS ago (like, 2012???) and can’t believe it took so long for a follow up! I have to re-read to get back into the story line.
Jenny, I was thinking the same thing. A reread of Hearts of Darkness will definitely be worth it!
Quick question guys, is Sweet Ruin a standalone? I read the blurb and really want to read the book, but is it part of a series?
JEAN SERIOUSLY?????? YOU ARE ASKING ABOUT SWEET RUIN AND IF IT’S PART OF A SERIES??????? AS IN SWEET RUIN BY Kresley Cole???? SERIOUSLY NOW???? UM IAD HINT HINT OR IMMORTALS AFTER DARK SERIES???? NOT ONLY ONE OF THE BEST PNR SERIES THIS SIDE OF CHI TOWN BUT BUT BUT SERIOUSLY???
Oh and I’m starting WiR 🙂
Ela I agree- Jean seriously. In my opinion you need to drop everything and read the entire IAD series! It’s the Ascension- you will miss the enture building up to the Ascension!
Omg Ela, I knew I was going to get slammed for that question! I haven’t read any of the series……so I assume I need to read it, and in order. Geez, I could hear you yelling all the way down here in Philly!
Oh and you just made bev’s day!
No seriously Jean! I believe I yelled THAT loud! Listen to Theresa and get on IAD ASAP or like right now!!!!!!! You only have 15 books to cover 🙂 and oh sooooooooooooooooooooo good and funny and awesome sexy times! Yes! Theresa!!!!!!!! Jean will miss the Ascension!!!!!
I’m glad to make anyone’s day!!!!
Ok, ok guys……it will be my goal for 2016 because I just can’t catch up with all these new releases and series! 15 books! Damn!
I’m reading Broken Promises right now……Trystan Scott….by H.M. Ward.
Trystan WHO….I’d say drop him and introduce yourself to Nikolai Wroth *licks lips*
Oooo Ela, just his name is intriguing. Ok, I gotta check this series out sooner rather than later. Thanks girls! Love yas!
Lol Ela, I just restarted that series. I’d read a couple of the books a few years ago, but I’m starting again from the beginning because YOU SOLD ME.
*shrug* guess caps are contagious
Oh, and BTW, those of you who read mm, I’m still haroung on Hassell’s books because I’ve had to read with the A/C on even though it’s winter here. hint hint
YAY!!!!!!!!!! I’M SO STOKED FOR YOU LADIES!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe i should do a reread??? But then no I have to get through WiR……
Ugh, speel check, you suck! *harping
I give up
Lmao fabi! That was hysterical!
Did I see something about licking… *whistles and looks innocent*
Yes, I want in on a 2016 challenge. And not a writing challenge. Gah. LOL! I’m almost done with Misconduct, its OK.
I haven’t read WiR or Kresley Cole or Hearts of Darkness… I think I may live under a rock.
*blinks* How can anyone who likes PNR pass up Kresley Cole? Just… no. That’s like saying you haven’t read any Sherrilyn Kenyon or JR Ward. I’m baffled.
That said, YEAH! Ela. I hope you like The Others as much as the rest of us.
Jennifer, I’m so envious. Having those first gushy feelings from Bully. *sighs* Jared is number three BBF for a reason. Though, her soliloquy in class, wasn’t that just gut-wrenchingly awesome? I could read that over and over again.
I’ve got 18 more books to read in my challenge. I read 32 out of 50, which isn’t so bad, I guess. I have a few lined up to get that number higher, but I can’t read 18 books in 15 days. Okay, I probably could, but it’s Christmas time! I don’t wanna! 😛
Don’t miss Kresley Cole’s Game series only 2 books currently out. Not PNR. Steamy! Lara Adrian coming out next year with a new steamy series. Well I read The Man That I Love, took a break tor a short book, now I guess I will move to the second.
Waiting on Hearts of Darkness until I get the second and read both right through.
The Game Maker series, YUP, HAWT!
GREY??? NOT YOU TOO??? SERIOUSLY?????????? WHERE ARE THE DAMN PEANUTS *STROLLING FOR PEANUTS*
*hands over a hand full of peanuts to Ela*
*RUNS AFTER JEAN AND GREY ARMED WITH NUTS* Thanks Tessa!
*SCREAMING: YOU MUST READ IAD SERIES*
whew! *wipes forehead* I barely dodged that hail of peanuts
Im almost frightened to admit Im with Grey and Jean ….but 15 books!!!
Ive just smashed thru WiR cos I thought Bev was going to grenade launch the peanuts. Don’t think I can back up with 15 freakin PNR books!
Lisa! NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF THE IMMORTALS AFTER DARK SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On another note I’m suppose to read 13 books in 15 days to reach my 2015 goal and how in the heck am I gonna do that???? Anyone have a 13 book serial that are very short???
Ela, I’m 29 books from my goal of 200…..not happening this year…..it’s been a rough one with limited time!
I’m 18 away from 150. Yeah, not happening. But if I were looking at the glass half full, a few weeks ago I was worried about hitting 100 for the year. Come on 2016!
What about some of Deborah Bladons series….Rise series Ember series etc. Each part is super short and counts as a book surely. Read Mechanic and Coach too. Both really short and ridiculously silly (no plot, limited storyline but lots of ‘sexy time’).
I read Coach and agree! Gave it 4 stars for it’s “creativity”… Will do Mechanic soon 😉 Have to finish WiR
Deborah Bladons – I read Vain and Ruin…will check out the others! Thanks Lisa!
Surely I must have the wrong blog! I thought you had all read the MUST READ classic PNR. I know many of us have broadened our genres, but come on, I thought you all read the classics!!!
Do I need to make a list for you ladies of the classic PNR series?
Maryse another list please!
What Theresa said THE CLASSIC PNR SERIES!!!!!! I’m almost afraid to ask if y’all know who Barons is or Ryder or Reyes!
*trips Ela as she runs by and sits on her*
*giggles at her peanuts flying across the floor*
And YOU must read…well, I need to think about it but I’m gonna sit here on you until I figure it out which one. 😛
*shoves Amy aside and throws peanuts in her face and hair* I had another handful hidden in my pocket *runs and hides behind Tessa and Theresa* Please tell me not you too Amy???
Ooh ooh ooh! I know who Barrons and Ryder are!! *scratches head* Don’t know who Reyes is though…
MichelleS…I think I *am* going to finally read Tyrant. I’m over the CH irritation now. 😉
Megan…you should join in more often on the LOL around here! I love these ladies and this place!
And I see that Bev is volunteering me to keep track of things on my spreadsheets…BRING IT!! 😀
AMY!!!!!!!!!! REYES FROM CHARLEY DAVIDSON SERIES??? DING DING DING
HA! I’ve read one book from the IAD series so there! But I haven’t read the CD series. Yet.
*picks peanuts out of hair*
Hey, where’s Maryse? She LOVES to eat peanuts!!
And note I didn’t let my autocorrect take over the word peanuts this time ’cause THAT would have been just all kinds of awkward. *snort*
Do you all know who Kim Harrson is? Duh! Hardcover author of finished series. Don’t even get me started on Sherrlyn Kenyon. Archeron ( did i spell that right?). Swooon!
Tis the season and you all need to throw the “mixed nuts” and dive for cover.
Since I am current on these Classics I am allowed to move to current reads!
*runs up to Amy grabs her by the cheeks* YOU HAVE TO MEET REYES!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU JUST HAD TO GET ME TO GO THERE! Yep here are quotes:
“Never knock on death’s door. Ring the doorbell then run. He totally hates that.
– T-shirt”
― Darynda Jones, First Grave on the Right
“That took balls.”
“Please,” I said with a snort, “that took ovaries. Of which I have two.”
― Darynda Jones, First Grave on the Right
“Maybe I needed sensitivity training. I once signed up for an anger management class, but the instructor pissed me off.”
― Darynda Jones, First Grave on the Right
“My fore-parts, as you so ineloquently put it, have names.”
I pointed to my right breast. “This is Danger.” Then my left. “And this is Will Robinson. I would appreciate it if you addressed them accordingly.”
After a long pause in which he took the time to blink several times, he asked, “You named your breasts?”
I turned my back to him with a shrug. “I named my ovaries, too, but they don’t get out as much.”
― Darynda Jones, First Grave on the Right
“Can I jump in your body and make out with my wife through you?”
I fought a grin. “It doesn’t really work that way.”
“Then can you just make out with my wife and pretend I’m in your body?”
“No.”
“I can pay. I have money.”
“How much we talking?”
― Darynda Jones, First Grave on the Right
Hey bev!!!!
I wish it was First line Thursday….
Guess what I’m reading? 😛
“Since I am current on these Classics I am allowed to move to current reads!” <—— Well la-dee-freaking-DA!!! 😛 *throws mixed nuts at Tessa*
One of these days I'll get to Acheron. Actually, not long ago I sorted my unread books on my Kindle app into collections by the year I purchased them, and my New Year's resolution is to rotate reading one book from each previous year before reading one from the current year. We'll see how long I can keep that up, but hey…it's a goal, right?
We're not going to talk about how many books I bought each year. Including the year with the most one-clicks…coincidentally the year I started hanging around here. *snort*
P.S. I just started and I’m ALREADY INTO it.
It reminds me of my urban fantasy obsession days, it’s already so absorbing.
Gah! I need to back up on these comments ’cause there’s a peanut party going on!! LOL!!!! 😀
Oops…those mixed nuts were meant for Theresa. Sorry Tessa. 😛
*gasp* Maryse, you might just get a hug out of Bev for that…this I gotta see!!
Ok you got be on Charlie Davidson. Never heard of that series.
OMG Ela, you have the BEST quotes. I wanna read whatever that was.
OMG Maryse! I can’t believe it.
…when you finish…will you make that PNR classics list they’re talking about up there? I know I’ve read most. But apparently, not all of them.
Amy, Gosh girl, his book alone is like 700-800 pages and is 3-4 kleenex boxes. But Simi is the comic relief of the series. Lots of HEA and swoons and heart breakers, big world like IAD.
Maryse what are you reading?
Theresa????? You will love it and you too Fabi!!!!! Both H and h are bad ass funny as heck!
https://www.goodreads.com/series/52637-charley-davidson
Maryse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are we BR’ing WiR??????? *twirls and throws mixed nuts in the air*
Theresa, Styxx book was pretty heartbreaking as well but not as many tears as Acheron that’s for sure! Although, I noticed that Sherrilyn Kenyon is making her plots just as complex as J.R. Ward with the BDB 🙁
Ella, read Styxx, actually read the whole series, I buy in Harcover cause I like to look at them! I have all the Nick books as well but I think I’m behind- just can’t get hooked on those.
Thanks got the Charley nooks marked. Big J R Ward lover as well- got those in hardcover too. I liked Blood Kiss.
Did you read Anna Strong series?
Honestly, I never went the Nick route, it really bothered me how he turned away *spoiler*….. ya know his whole reaction.
Haven’t read Anna Strong Series, just looked it up though.
Bwahahhaha, I love it. We’re just nuts around here. Sometimes we throw down a little too hard… or something a little hard *giggle*
I’ve read a ton this year, I have no idea how many. I will keep track next year for sure.
I have read Barrons and Ryder and all the BDB boys. I do not know who Reyes is though…
Amy, I did nothing but supply the peanuts. I honestly only know of one classic PNR series I’ve yet to read, the Faith Hunter series. Anyone have another that I might not have?
Anna Strong series? I just read the synopsis and will have to go through my other apps, but I think I’ve read it. The doctor thing sounds super familiar.
Reyes is awesome. The Charlie Davidson series is awesome. Alright, that said, I wouldn’t call it a classic. It’s not an old enough series. Good, just not that old. *thinks* Closest thing to it is the Undead series by MaryJanice Davidson. High on humor, but I like the CD books more. 😀
We’ll need to define PNR classics. I’d say any series started (first book) prior to 2010. What do you think?
Huh, I don’t know. CD series still would be too new. Maybe? Also, it’d have to be books that have impact. There were a lot of books that came out in 2008-2007 etc that weren’t that big of a deal. It sounds like a fun project!
Thoughts:
BDB by JR Ward
Dark Hunters by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Fever series by Karen Marie Moaning
Undead Series by MaryJanice Davidson
Southern Vampire series by Charlene Harris
Dark Series by Christine Feehan
Anita Blake seires by Laurel K Hamilton
Tons I can list, but that’s my thoughts so far.
Hey guys!! I missed you all! I read Hearts in Darkness and loved it!! I want more Caden! Can’t wait for the sequel to come out 😀 Dont know what to read next.
Guys have you read Corrupt by Penelope Douglas? I loved Bully amd Misconduct but wondering about this one. Thanks!
Anne, I really liked Corrupt though it does involve suspending belief a little. I was fine with it and really loved it, though not as dark as I was expecting. Still, really good.
Forgot *facepalms*
Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole *facepalms*
Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong
I haven’t even touched YA. lol
I have a hard time keeping my head straight between paranormal romance and Urban Fantasy. To me I i just don’t think what the category. For example I Think Laurell Hamilton is under Horror. Btw, I really wish Laurell would get back to writng like in the beginning, she can’t get her writing out of her personal stuff. Just saying.
I said classics, but only because their were so many before Twilight. Then after that people just got hooked and started reading anything close.
And honestly I started spreading my wings and haven’t read allot I have but haven’t read yet. Uhhh! Like Karen Marie Moning.
WAIT! Just… *blinks* How did I not respond to that? Maryse just made Bev the happiest person ever. Also, how did we forget First Line Thursday?
‘Liliana Brewster used one hand to hold the roll bar above her head.’
Out of Plans by Stylo Fantome
It’s really good. I think this is the end because I’m on the epilogue and everything seems done. Loved it. That said… That first sentence! My curse continues.
Oh yeah how could I forget Kelley Armstrong Otherworld series, i am always hunting anything at all in that series. In fact preordered two books for January.
Maryse is reading WHAT…*passes out*
Tessa…sweetheart… *puts arm around Tessa* It’s Wednesday. 😉
I missed it, what’s Maryse reading???
Bwahahha Amy! poor Tessa… pats Tessa’s arm and passes her Amy’s martini, how’s that no chocolate and booze detox thing going anyway?
WiR…
😛
Darn I am bad at comment backtracking. Lemme try again…
haaaa, you guys have had me laughing so much today that my co-workers are giving me funny looks and my pants are getting damp…stoooop
Maryse, you shoulda waited ’till tomorrow and BHAM the news with First Line Thursday…woulda had Bev hyperventilating
I give – what is WiR???
I had 51 emails from all your comments! Haha too funny!
Yay, we don’t have to hear bev beg Maryse to read WiR anymore! Lol!
Laughing….”Tessa it’s Wednesday”….hahahahaha
Hey, I know Barrons and Ryder….that has to count for something!
Written in Red, Anne Bishop
It is Wednesday! I totally blame the kid! 😛 *takes the martini and begins sipping* Oooh! That means I can purposely set myself up now for tomorrow. I will have a decent first line! Thank you for the drink, Amy!
Would Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changling books be a classic PNR?
Damn it Tessa, I gave you the drink, not Amy… although, it was Amy’s drink I gave you… so I guess you can thank her too *hmph, giggle*
I think I’m gonna read WiR too, I mean, wtf, right? I love being part of a buddy read group!
Tessa, you really are diving in. Again, i think i have nooks and just can’t read fast enough but I think allot of people read that series. Isn’t it still going? Look at the posts this sibject started!!!!
Bev got home from work.
Bev opened email.
*thud*
Bev passed out.
I’m just going to hang out down here. Think about new subjects for conversation.
Fabi, tell me if she bites her lip.
No you didn’t, Grey! “…and passes her Amy’s martini…” <—– See??? You took MY martini and gave it to her, so I'm out a martini and you don't get the thanks for it! Hrmph!!
And I am happily back on booze and sugar…and 6 pounds lighter! YAY ME!!! 😀
Hey Bev…wake up! *tosses mixed nuts at Bev* You gotta hug Maryse and I gotta see it. *giggle*
I think Bev needs a martini too! *BIG SMILE*
Okay, done with Out of Plans by Stylo Fantome and oh so good. The author writes insane stories and characters, seriously. The series is now complete as far as CH, though she’s going to write a secondary character’s story. However, I gotta say, OMG, so good and exciting. I fell for a TOTAL bad guy secondary. He’s someone who irl I’d run from. He’s proof of ONLY in books. *grins*
Thank you for the drink, Grey! I am out of it.
Theresa, I think you’re right. The only reason I really ask is because I like her Guild Hunters series more.
OMG! Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels series and Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson series. Those are definites!
Congratulations Amy! So the dress was worth it? *hands her a white russian* What can I say? OOP had russian bad guys. 😛
I’ll fan her, you hand her the martini Tessa. Let’s see…how about this in honor of my favorite group of the Others:
https://www.sheknows.com/recipes/the-crow-cocktail
Also, I think we need to hook Fabi up with a Poise pad. She’s having a bit of a problem right now. SHHHHH!!!!! Don’t say it too loud!!
And thank you! The dress is definitely worth all that deprivation. 😀
Kate Daniels on the list but well – time!
Oh yes Mercy, although the last few were a stretch. The first ones were so good. Charles and Samual Cornick – such old world hunks not gym rats.
Hey guys, Finding Bliss by Dina Silver is 1.99 right now. It’s another of those where I don’t remember too much about it other than some tummy-turning events and that I really liked it!
Whoa whoa whoa. What did I miss here?
1.) Maryse is reading WiR? Hot damn. She better fall in love with those ponies, that’s all I’m sayin’.
2.) There are actually people who have NOT read Immortals After Dark? I agree. You’re going to miss the Ascension. Pure greatness. Like the amzing race for paranormal fans with uber hot males and the best female characters ever. Go. Read. It. Now.
3.) Did someone say Ryder and Barrons? **fans self*** I am so ready for a hot bossy dude. And if he’s the King of the Fae or something, then even better.
4.) I finished Lawless. Cliff hanger. Boo. Can’t believe it. Should have known.
MichelleS – Souless coming in February – I’m waiting to read until then
Ok, Amy.
*hugs Maryse*
Just know it was awkward. As in one arm, back patting, no eye contact.
I so need that diet Amy.
And yes we should do a tbr challenge & Amy could keep track of the themes. 🙂
Like Jan could be a book that was first in a series or trilogy, etc.
Any rules? Such as it had to be in your library or tbr prior to Jan 2016. So even if it fits the theme no new books.
*holds up a mirror to Michelle’s face*
*pokes her*
*whispers*
You think she’ll like it?
*sputters and takes a deep breath* What happened? Bev? I was reading along and thought I saw that Maryse was reading Written i…oh she really is…*face plants again*
OMG, it took me like 10 minutes to catch up on the comments you girls made!! LMAO!!
First like to say I know who Barrons and Ryder are but *dumps bucket of peanuts on self* I have not read Wir or the CD series. *steals drink from Tessa and runs and hides*
*lays down next to Michelle*
*whispers*
Christmas miracles do come true.
*pokes*
*whispers*
Amy has been sitting on people.
Wow, congrats Amy on the results from your deprivation diet!!
I finished TMIL and I read GMYAT, but I have to be honest and admit I did skim some of GMYAT. Can’t wait for book 3. 😉
Nope haven’t read IAD either. Am I still allowed to comment here?! :>
I’m all for the tbr challenge too.
My alcohol! *runs after Cheryl*
*stops realizing Cheryl is running with alcohol*
Screw that. I’ll get more. There’s none left in that glass now. *saunters off and gets another white russian*
Now, too many books and I’ve no idea what to read.
Oooh! TBR. Fine, I’ll read Goblin King. I’ve had it since October of 2013. I read the short story first, loved it, then never read the book. It’s my oldest paid for book I’ve never read.
Crap! It took me 15 minutes to catch up on the comments posted in the time it took me to drive home. But…now I’m lmbo again.
“Moooommm, can I borrow a Poise please?”
At least my PJs will stay dry.
Yup, I’m all in for Amy keeping track of our tbr reads. *hands Amy the bottle* That’s my contribution.
O.- <— *cautiously watching Maryse for any lip biting*
I'm off to read. (how do we ever find time to read anything besides Maryse's blog?)
LOVING IT SO FAR!!!!
‘kay back to reading…
*shuffles back into blankie-fort.*
*comes back out*
*swipes nearest martini*
*giggle*
*back into blankie-fort*
hmmm, I didn’t see any lip biting, just a little Martini swiping
0.-
Yay!
*happy claps*
Amy is sitting on people…even 6 lbs lighter…I’m up, I’m up!
*snacks on my left-over, slightly stale peanuts*
MichelleS…do you know how happy I am that you said Lawless was a CH? Now we can avoid another episode of me hunting you down. 😉
OMG…OMG…Bev hugged Maryse!!!!! *dances and skips around Bev* Now I don’t have to sit on you too…which I was planning on doing if you didn’t give in and hug her. 😛
*grabs Michelle’s ankle* Where do you think you’re going?? You have an update to give me on LotS missy…or do I need to sit on you again? Huh??
Good lord, there is all kinds of liquor stealin’ going on around here tonight. Y’all make me proud. I’m just going to take my new bottle (compliments of Fabi) and settle down to read…*sigh* I don’t know what. Whatever. I’m gonna get my drink on and then try to decide.
I just have to say though how excited I am for Bev that Maryse is lovin’ WiR. I’m hugging you in my mind, Bev. *giggle*
K C Lynn has Men of Honor boxed set for .99. Good suspenseful but uncomplicated read.
Also Maryse is in her blanket fort! Should we tell her that Cheryl ran with that martini glass? I don’t think there’s any actual liquid in it.
No sitting on me Amy! *grins* I’m being good and reading a TBR from forever ago. I paid 5.53 for this book! I need to read it for the yearly challenge.
Thank you Amy, your sweet.
I think everyone is excited that they will not have to read, ” Hey Maryse, you know what book…..”
Morrison by Chelsea Cameron & M J Fields came out this week. I just finished it!
Oh my goodness….50 plus emails….lots of chat today. Im too lazy to scroll back thru the entire conversation but I gather Maryse has taken the plunge and started WiR.
PS: there are peanuts everywhere people….Im crunching them into the carpet!!
Two books that I will be reading as soon as they are released;
Storm by Samantha Towle December 23, 2015 and The Score (Off-Campus Book 3)by Elle Kennedy January 11, 2016. YEH!!!!!
*snatches ankle back* I haven’t started it yet…oh look OPI nail polish half off! *quickly runs away in other direction*
Tessa, you’re forgetting Eileen Wilks Lupi series! Oh and I truly loved The Mona Lisa or Children of the Moon series by Sunny….very different PNR
https://www.goodreads.com/series/40531-mon-re-children-of-the-moon
BEV!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM READING WIR TOO AND ABOUT 59% INTO IT 🙂
Half off OPI?!? *squee—*
*sees Michelle running off*
Hey! Not cool woman!!!
AMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOOK SALE ON SOME MAC PALETTES!!!!!!!!!!
https://shop.nordstrom.com/c/mac-eye-makeup?origin=leftnav
Whoot!!!
I hope you like it.
Hi guys *wave hands* Can I join your peanut party? Who are you throwing peanuts at now? I’m on the last 5% of Magic Shifts (the latest Kate Daniels series) by Ilona Andrews. SO GOOD!!! My first peanut shot!– I’m throwing at anyone who didn’t read Kate Daniels series *holding a handful of peanuts and tapping my foot*
Tessa! Does the Imp series have any romance (male MC) in it? I love a mix of action and romance in PNR/UF. Not a huge fan of a triangle love relationship though.
Maryse!!! I’m so tickled that you are reading WiR. WiR is SO GOOD! Gosh, when is the new book scheduled to come out? Bev, please give yourself a nice pat!
Bev? Does it ever get romantic??? Not that I’m complaining cause I’m loving it but still curious! I could totally see it 😉 HAWT “special meat” eating wolf alpha!
OH AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO EAT ASIA ASAP!
Ela – “does it ever get romantic?” – let’s just say it’s a slooooooooow build. But that’s half the fun. He’s not the bodice ripping kind. WiR, for me, was all about the character development and world building. I, too, asked often when the kissing was going to start.
First line THURSDAY!
“Katie kicks me under the table, shooting me a WTF look when I meet her gaze.” Broken Promises by H.M. Ward…….Soooo great! It is totally reminding me of our Tristan and Danika!!! Sigh…..
You must read the Secret Life of Trystan Scott 1 thru 5 first! Don’t be intimidated! They are like short novellas comprised into one book!
Great! Thanks MichelleS! I can so run with that build!
Young! ” I love a mix of action and romance in PNR/UF. Not a huge fan of a triangle love relationship though.” me too me too me too 🙂
go ahead – throw the peanut. I have the first Kate Daniels book it in my tbr, does that count?
omg Jean – you and your fantastic first lines *turns a little green with envy*
my 1st line Thursday
“Watching a movie with my brother and his boyfriend was like watching the first few minutes of a gay porn video.”
Sunset Park by Santino Hassell
^^^that makes more sense if you’ve read the first book in the series. But – no doubt – these books are HAWT. There are good-looking, naked men everywhere! lol
First line Thursday!
“Nudged awake by his bedmate’s restless movements, [name redacted] yawned, rolled over on his belly, and studied [name redacted].” ~ Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop
Didn’t want any spoilers in that one. 😉
It really IS Christmas! Maryse is reading Written in Red “finally” and Amy is reading Murder of Crows “finally” 🙂
Grayson’s Vow is .99, Mia Sheridan
OMG Fabi!! LOL!!!!!
Ela!! I was at Nordstrom a couple of weeks ago and of course I had to stop by the MAC counter…the X15 eyeshadow palettes were 25% off so I grabbed the Nordstrm’s Finest one, then I figured screw it, the warm neutral and cool neutral were great deals as well so those came home with me too. 😀 But…BUT! Now I want the other things from that link that are on sale…you’re not helping my self control here!! I won’t complain though. 😉
Young…the more the merrier! We LOVE penises around here. 😉
Oh Amy, that first line intrigues me! Who is it?!?! I haven’t read it yet (but did read WiR so no peanuts please)!
Ok, probably won’t hear from me for the rest of the day. Heading to my office holiday party!
OH F$&K!!!!
PEANUTS!!! Should have been PEANUTS!!
*crawls in blankie fort*
I’m not coming out the rest of the day. Oh for the love of all things holy…
*whines* why can’t Chanel palettes be on sale??? Life is SO unfair, I tell ya UNFAIR!!!!!!!!! Oh and I’m Loving little Sam the poor puppy!!!!!!!!
*rotfl* sure you did Amy 😉 I bet you wrote just what was on your mind 🙂
Seriously Ela…I feel like I’m going to puke…
It’s all right Amy *hands over alkaseltzer* you’ll be fine! If it makes you feel better I like penises and peanuts 🙂
LOL Amy! I swear I’m going to get fired. It’s pretty obvious I’m not working when I’m staring at my computer literally laughing out loud.
I bet it’s true anyways. We need a poll. Who on Maryse’s blog doesn’t love “peanuts”?
Get ready according to Karina Halle FB she is about to release her xmas surprise! Yeah finally.
RIGHT FABI???? LMAO
I wish we had a Tarryn Fisher Holiday Surprise! I can’t wait for that Love book!
*peeks out of blankie fort*
*raises hand*
I like “peanuts.”
*slinks back into blankie fort*
*laughs and goes into blanky fort* *hugs Amy* Remember, your computer doesn’t like the word peanuts. At least your statement was true, right?
Ela, I just wish-listed those two. I’ve never read them, so it’s definitely worth looking into. 🙂 Yeah, more books!
Young, first off, awesome. I love the KD books sooooo much. The imp series kinda has a triangle but not really. She has a boyfriend whom she adores and there’s an angel, but he’s…. Yeah, not sure. Second book and I just like him.
First Line Thursday (because it’s actually Thursday not Wednesday)
“What are you doing?” I asked my father.
Hell on Heels by Robyn Peterman
The Goblin King is just SOOOO boring, I stopped reading it. The novella was a hundred times better. Hell on Heels is funny. Ridiculous and pure silly, but good.
Tessa, your first line…ummm
lol
Oh Ela I LOVED The Children of the Moon books too! No one ever mentions them so you got me all excited 😀 I stalked her site for so long hoping she would write more books but it looks like that is not happening.
The MAC palette is nice but I have over half the colors I think but is a fantastic price!
All this WiR love is making me squee and spin in a circle. Redacted names haha. Amy likes penises and peanuts…yeah ok just make sure you do not get those confused when you start flinging things…
First line: “I knew my marriage was in trouble the night my husband brought home a streetwalker to teach me how to satisfy him.” Lily of the Springs by Carole Bellacera. Whoa that was a good hook me first line thanks Amy 😉
Jennifer, I forgot to respond that I looked up Heat by R Lee Smith and it looks completely different again…where does she come up with this stuff but I’m in! I want to read it soon and everything else she has written for that matter.
Michelle, I haven’t read her new one yet, but Heat is pretty dark and gritty. Think Life of Anna dark.
Ooo yeah I’m reading it Fabi…disturbing and gritty I like sometimes to change it up. Still haven’t read Life of Anna but want to. You need to read both The Last Hour of Gann and The Land of the Beautiful Dead. Both were sooooo amazing and different…and long but really addicting! The character development especially is top notch.
MICHELLE I’M SO EXCITED SOMEONE ELSE HAS READ SUNNY’S BOOKS!!!!!!!!!! I stalked her site too and emailed with her last year; she said she wanted to continue the series but had other priorities but eventually would continue! OMG I reread those books so many times soooooooooooooooooooo good and the sexy times so good!
What are you comparing to Life of Anna???? I loved that series!
Amy, the funny thing was I was shaking my head “yes” we do…I also like peanuts too! 😉
First line:
“Mr. Kingston, you need to calm down and let us do our job,” the nurse tells me. Lullabye (Rockstar Book 6) by Anne Mercier.
Good, rockstar series.
Ela, Heat. Only because of its detailed gritty darkness.
Michelle, I’m definitely reading both of those. I live long books! I think we have BR planned with Bec for LHoG in Feb I think?
*love
Aly Martinez has several books on sale
Can Theo James play Simon???
Ela I shrieked a little – she might write more! Can’t get my hopes up but I would be ecstatic if she comes back to that series! I miss Dante the most…that scene that causes him to go crazy (and made me cry) I will never forget! I searched a lot for books similar to that series and the closest I found to that feel was Amy Lane’s Little Goddess series. I still look for the male harem thing in pnr/fantasy as a guilty pleasure…oh well I admit it 😉
*cough cough* excuse me? Did you just say “male harem”? WHAT have I missed?!
Michelle…YAY!!!!!!!!! I’m so excited you’re reading it!!!
*happy dance*
By the way…if you don’t care for it, that’s okay. I promise my feelings won’t get hurt. 😉
Male harem??
My ovaries just did backflips.
Cheryl.. …Im with you on both books. Cant wait for Storm…its Jakes POV and set a few years after the Mighty Storm. And the new Off-campus! Perfect holiday reading for me!
I love peanuts and penises Amy.
And I love all of you and the ridiculous banter that has me laughing out loud in public places like a loon.
First line:
Oh dear….Im nervous to type this one…..here goes…..
‘Tittie-f*&$ing a B cup is the equivalent of rubbing your c&*k against a cushioned wall.’
*peeks through fingers*
Sacked by Tabatha Vargo
😯
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
Yeah *blushes a little* but it only works for me with the pnr/fantasy/scifi type reads. It’s freakin hot if done right 😉 So turning it back on y’all, what are some of your guilty pleasures? Fess up!
Amy, I just sat down to get back into it but so far I’m liking it and I love getting the recso thank you!
Lisa, wow that’s just wow…
Yep Michelle…its WOW alright. Male Pov obviously….slow build…not so much!! Bahaahaahaa.
Ela thats what I enjoyed about WiR….the gradual development and ‘world building’. The Others seem so dark and foreboding initially (the hunt scene early on) but by the time Meg cares for Sam they already know shes special to them (her not prey status) and seem more human themselves. I love the way the author lets that develop rather than create insta-attraction.
I adore the Crows…..pretty sure theyre my spirit animal..after all things sparkly!
Lisa I read the sample for that book. Remember thinking well that first line sets the mood for what this book will be like!! Let me know what you ultimately think. LOL!!
Finished Hell on Heels! Cute and fun. It made me smile. That’s all I asked. After that one, I’m ready for something a bit more serious.
lol Another one of my awesome first lines. *rolls eyes*
‘He watched her.’
Dear Professor by Blair Drake
I’m on page one and it’s already steamy. 0.0
Amy. Amy. Amy.
*shakes head*
Love the first line though, lol.
I think the next Bishop comes out on the same day as the next Patricia Briggs. Mercy!!!
And the next CS Harris.
Seriously? Both on the same day? CRAP! How am I supposed to choose? I never read CS Harris. *goes to look her up*
Right?
I mean usually no brainer for me, but Mercy is one of my very favorite heroines.
Tessa, I think I’m going to start Dear Professor tonight too.
I finished the Sunset Park in, like, a day because I couldn’t put it down. I’m not sure I got any work done today at all. I’m in a total book fog. This next one needs to either blow it out of the park or be cute and funny. It’s really hard to read that next book after finishing an awesome one.
It’s definitely tense and what I expected, but she isn’t what I thought she’d be. Totally interesting and I’m only on chapter 3. After an awesome book, I need the light and fluffy or else the next book will just be a disappointment.
Well, … It’s not for me. dnf @ 10% for various reasons
off to hunt in my tbr again
Or
maybe I’ll that novella by Shay Savage
Read Rommies last night and didn’t like it. I didn’t like the writing and the charactares were like teenagers when in reality they were in their mid-twenties. A 1.5/5 for me.
Royal Savage just popped up on my Kindle….and oh that cover!!
Think I’ll give this one a whirl as Sacked isn’t holding my attention (I know….shocker!) 🙁
OMG Michelle YES!!!! Dante!!!!!! And that book where someone did something to her *spoiler* and it gutted both her and Dante *spoiler* I cried!!!!!!!!!! How is it that not more PNR fans know of this series, I always wondered??? Yes it’s different but that’s the awesome part of PNR! You can create worlds beyond our imaginations!!!! Now you’re making me want to re-read the whole series! Although, I wasn’t to crazy with how Sunny chose to finish off the last book.
Lisa!!!!!!! I finished WiR and LOVED it!!!! The scenes with the “puppy” and even Simon as wolf and Nate and the crow who stole all her pens and pencils LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! I gave it 4 stars but since it’s still on my mind and i’m itching to pick up book 2 I may bump it up! And YES that early hunt scene freaked me out….I was like oh no what have I gotten myself into (not a fan of horror of any manner)….
Ela, so glad you liked WiR. That series is addicting in a really weird way. Maybe because its so original.
I started reading Pucked Up this morning. I loved Pucked and this one is really good so far too.
I filled in my “free smut time” with Deborah Bladon’s serials but I think I want to get back to the world of Mercy Thompson since you ladies mentioned it….I believe I may be 2 books behind? And then there’s Alpha and Omega!
Anyone interested in a “harem” check this series out and you won’t be disappointed if you’re a fan of PNR!

Oh! I need to get to the Alpha & Omega series too. I keep hearing how good it is. I’m wondering how much of it reflects back on the Mercy series. Does anyone know?
Michelle! *sobbing* https://www.sunnyauthor.info/news/
I don’t remember exactly but the first book in the Alpha & Omega did mention Mercy but not that it couldn’t be read as separate from that series. It’s just nice to have some answers to side questions you may have had about Mercy’s other family (her adoptive wolf family).
Thanks Ela. Some of these series I read years ago so I don’t remember all of the details.
The alpha and omega series is far more emotional, in my opinion. Mercy is more action. That’s not saying either is lacking, but A and O is more romance with action, while Mercy is more action with romance.
Fabi, reading Dear Professor, I would have told you nope. It’s perfect for me, but yeah. I wish I’d read it first so I could have told you not to read it. *hugs*
Thanks Tessa. Hugs back at ya.
Have read Patricia Briggs from beginning, so hard to remember. But yes Mercy is adoptive to the Cornicks (wolves). I like to read enture series and niot skip books so I woukd say read them all. But you couid ask author.
And I agree with Tessa on her statement.
One of my first series I started in PNR I keep in book form – hardcover.
I have dropped some of my PNR authirs but still holding true here
Ela that scene with Dante is exactly the one I was talking about that made me cry and will never forget – so unexpected and just ughhh I want to reread too and I have read them all at least 3 times! Yeah see I knew she had that on her website 🙁 🙁 WiR is a 5* read come on 😉
What Tessa said about Alpha and Omega. It’s the better series for me. You get more Bran too. Charles and Anna <3
