One Paperwhite for me… one Paperwhite for you… Merry Christmas Giveaway!

By 269 Comments

A WINNER HAS BEEN SELECTED!!! Congratulations Lisa!!! 😀 (make sure to check your email, because there are a few Lisas here). 🙂

Yep… so I’ve been talking about getting myself a Kindle Paperwhite. I LOVE my iPad, don’t get me wrong, but it does have a *few* drawbacks. Like when I’m reading outside, or in the car… and it’s sunny? Or too bright out? Well… I can barely see the screen. It’s just… uncomfortable reading and sometimes I just LOVE to read outside. On the beach, on a perfect spring day… or even next to a bright window.

That, and the fact that the iPad is a bit large and heavy, so carrying it around in one of *my purses* which tend to be small, doesn’t work well. And for the fact that if I wanna FaceTime with my mom in Canada for a few hours, I have to do it on a laptop, so I can have my iPad free, in case I feel like reading while she does her thing on the other end. That’s fine and all, but every time I want to move to a different area, I have to unhook the laptop, the mouse, and anything else plugged into it to carry it around. I’d rather just have HER on my iPad, and my books on an actual Kindle, and then we can “hang out” together anywhere I feel like being, and I can still read.

So there ya go. My reasons for needing a Kindle. And the fact that my fellow readers have convinced me to get one, well. I must!

Rebecca: I totally think you should grab that paperwhite, Maryse…I don’t think you will regret it. I read on it exclusively now- it is so much better than reading on a tablet. The light makes it the most perfect device…ever. I go nowhere without mine. 🙂

MichelleS: The paperwhite is my 5th Kindle, literally…. and it’s the one I use exclusively now. Easy to use. Manage collections. Read in bed. Just love it. it is FAR superior to the other kindles.

Maryse: Thank you guys!!! I’m getting one.

Shelly: I’ve been thinking about getting a Paperwhite also. I love my Fire HD, but it is harder to read with it outside & I’ve heard the Paperwhite is awesome for that. 🙂

Michelle F: Yes, Maryse, you should grab that Kindle Paperwhite while it’s on sale!  I do alot of camping and read outside alot and the Paperwhite is perfect.  Took it to Mexico for two weeks on vacation and read out on the beach for hours every day in the full sun.  No glare, no tilting it to avoid reflection.  It’s great!  I turn it to airplane mode when I’m away from home and don’t need the wi-fi so my battery lasts for days and days without recharging.

Yep! How can I resist? So… tell me why YOU would also need a Paperwhite and one lucky commenter here will get one, too!

Now for the Paperwhite Giveaway!

How to enter for a chance to win it? Just leave a comment (tell me why YOU would also need a Paperwhite), and by 10pm EST, Monday December 22nd 2014, I will randomly select ONE winner for a Kindle Paperwhite, 6″ High-Resolution Display (212 ppi) with Built-in Light, Wi-Fi – Includes Special Offers.

The winner will be contacted and will have 48hrs to respond with a mailing address, so if you are picked, do not delay or you will lose your chance.

Open to U.S. and Canada! But all are welcome to comment!

Shortcut to the latest upcoming book releases – December 21st 2014

By 5 Comments

The new year will be here SO soon, and I couldn’t help but take a peek into what reading we have to look forward to next year! And OMG once I got in there, I couldn’t stop. THERE ARE SOOOOO MANY coming out. So many already up for pre-order (let alone the ones that will be released each day by our favorite indies that we don’t even know about yet).

So much to look forward to, and continuations of our FAVORITE series, from indie authors to those that are “traditionally published” to those that are a sort of hybrid of both.

Jamie McGuire will continue the Maddox Brothers in the new year, Abbi Glines will be continuing her Rosemary Beach series, Colleen Hoover will be releasing multiple books (she rocks my world!!), Karina Halle, I already know has TWO standalone coming out next year, MORE KELLAN by S.C. Stephens (*thud*!!!!!!!!!), Kristen Ashley, the writing-wonder and one of my all-time faves will be releasing a bunch next year, too! Jessica Redmerski (she gave my goosebumps with her book The Edge of Never) and my fingers are crossed that this one will give me the same effect. Jennifer L. Armentrout has three coming out, too (and probably more, I just haven’t run across ’em yet)!

PLUS! J.R. Ward will be releasing book #1 of a brand new series (not paranormal), Karen Marie Moning will be bring MAC BACK!!! (and Barrrrrronnnns!!! Oh Barrons. You can dominate my reading world ANY day).  Oh! And releases by Maya Banks go all the way to 2016! She’s another writing machine!

Oh God I could go on and on… but instead… take a look for yourself. Yep… I have a LOT of reading order guides to update. 😉 These have all been added to the main BOOK RELEASES page (this is just a shortcut to see the latest ones I’ve added to it).

Teacher-Student Romance Books where SHE is the teacher…

By 17 Comments

FORBIDDEN ROMANCE ALERT!! I’ve been getting a few requests, lately, for an more “focused” student-teacher list. I already have a main book list that is comprised of anything “teacher-student” romance related, but it appears there aren’t that many where the teacher is a woman. These are few and far between. But some of you are asking for list and I’m happy to oblige.

Touchy subject especially considering the news stories over the last few years, but still a worthy risqué, exciting, angst-filled, dramatic, eeeeeeep-inducing reading subject, am I right?

Shubhankar: hi! could you recommend me some female teacher male student romance books?

Denisa: Do you include female teacher – male student relationships on the list? I miss those that I know. If any books on your list fall into that category, could you tell me which ones?

Kristy: I was curious if anyone has any recommendations for teacher/student books but not the older guy teacher but perhaps a women teacher?? I feel like those don’t really exist?

Jean: …have never read anyteacher/student books before so I am a little scared! haha!

Maryse: Tee hee Jean!! As well you should be. Joinnnnn ussssss on the risqué-read side. We have cookies and they’re racier here. *snort* 😛

Fabi: Maryse, I love student/teacher romance (in books only)  they are so -idk- illicit or something.

Maryse: *waggles eyebrows* IN BOOKS. Yes… great clarification. 😉 Onlyyyyy in books.

MichelleS: I Love a good student teacher romance – all that “forbidenny” stuff….

Lindsay: IDK what it is about student/teacher romances, but I get anxiety reading those books!

Linda: On the Island and To Professor, With Love!!! Yes!!! HIGHLY recommend them both. Both are beautifully written and unputdownable!! No brainer. You can trust me on both! 5 stars.

We love the butterflies in our stomach, don’t we? Biting our nails, on the edge of our seat while the swoon-y butterflies and the ‘fraidy butterflies battle it out.

So here it is! And Denisa starts us off with the first three:

  • Prey by Lurlene McDaniel <— “All the kids are talking about how hot she is–and she is especially interested in Ryan Piccoli.” Eeeeeeep! See I’m already eeeeping!
  • Notes on a Scandal: What Was She Thinking?: A Novel <— secrets revealed…
  • Tampa by Alissa Nutting <— This one sounds CRAZY! Not a romance and was told extremely contraversial and Lime says: “TAMPA isn’t a romance (I’d say erotica, but that feels a bit wrong given the subject matter). It’s dark and cynical and very taboo. Lots of black humour. Kind of like YOU by Caroline Kepnes ((if anyone liked that one, they’d probably like TAMPA).“
  • On the Island: A Novel by Tracey Garvis-Graves <— YESSSS!! I LOVED this one. She’s in her 20’s and I think he’s 16? 17? She’s his tutor but still has that whole forbidden aspect to it. One of my favorite books ever! And Cindy agrees! “Oh, good list. On the Island by Tracy Garvis Graves. That one was unforgettable.” (my review)
  • SCHOOLED 4.0 by Deena Bright <— Melissa suggests this one! “Schooled by Deena Bright involves a female teacher and two of her former students.” and it was all the risqué rage a few years ago!
  • To Professor, with Love (Forbidden Men Book 2) by Linda Kage <— From the blurb… “I never expected to connect with anyone like this or want more beyond one night. This may be the real deal. Problem is Dr. Kavanagh’s my literature professor.“
  • Run to Me by Erin Golding <— Eliza recommends this one, saying: “Run to Me, by Erin Golding. I think the book is set in Australia. It’s also better written than most.” And here’s a bit from the blurb: “Abby is a teacher tortured by her unfulfilled dreams. When she takes on the role of running coach at Whateley School, she never imagines it will unravel her whole life.”
  • Hot For Teacher by Mandee Mae, M.C. Cerny, Phalla S. Rios, Niquel, Missy Johnson, Carly Grey, Amalie Silver, Elle Bright, Vicki Green, Liv Morris, Nicole Blanchard <— A few books in this anthology feature a female teacher and male student…
  • Her Master’s Teacher by Lily White <— Feifei suggests this one! “Oh Maryse!! I’m so silly, I totally forgot Her Master’s Teacher by Lily White! She’s the guy’s teacher before she gets kidnapped by him eek“
  • Living in Shadow (Living In… Book 1) by Jackie Ashenden <— Timitra suggests this one! “Living In Shadow by Jackie Ashenden features a female teacher and a male student”
  • Boy Toy by Barry Lyga <— Michelle reminds us that this one needs to be on the list.
  • True North Book 3 – Finding Now Kate and Sam by Allie Juliette Mousseau <— Amanda suggested this one saying, “She is a professor and he is her student”
  • Then There Was You: (So Much It Hurts Series Book #2) by Melanie Dawn <— Feifei found us this one! “Here’s another one that *might* fit the bill – Then There Was You: (So Much It Hurts Series Book #2)! Not exactly the typical student/teacher but she’s his much older counselor”
  • Feel again by Faith Andrews <— Sharon found us this one! She says: “Feel again by Faith Andrews comes out jan 12 teacher is women.”
  • One Summer by Karen Robards <— bev suggests this one! “Read this many years ago and remember liking it.”

By 24 Comments

First —> KINDLE SUPER SALES! All of ’em are awesomely priced and I think I’m getting a Paperwhite at that price. Reading my iPad outside during the day is difficult and this might be just the ticket! I think there’s still time to get ’em by Christmas.

Next… I couldn’t help myself. Had to start a brand spankin’ new one from Tuesday’s list (Around The Bend by Britney King) that as just calling to me and the writing so far is fantastic!!! The perfect life… or so it seemed, and now she’s a mess… and I’m dying to know where it’s gonna take me.

P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

P.P.S. Also, while these bargain finds and new releases “look” great (and/or have awesome reviews and recommendations), unless I have my own personal review link next to it, I likely haven’t read it myself… I just found it and wanted to share it in case it’s awesome. So if you read it, let me know if it’s awesome. LOL! :D

NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order.

  • Claiming Serenity: Seeking Serenity Book 3 by Eden Butler <— JUST RELEASED!! I really liked #1, so exciting to see she’s turned this into a series. “Donovan Donley wants nothing more than to knock Layla off her princess pedestal. He hates her stuck up attitude and her soft, tempting lips. He especially hates that her father is his coach. But he’s fine with their arrangement—act horrible to each other during the day, attack each other naked at night. It works…” (until she doesn’t show up one night…) Check out my review of book #1.
  • Friends With Multiple Benefits (Friends With Benefits Book 6) by Luke Young <— JUST RELEASED!

  • I Love You, Salvatore (The Five Families Book 1) by Marita A. Hansen <— JUST RELEASED!! Sounds angsty! “… I would rather live for only one day with him, than suffer a lifetime without him. Being with Salvatore was worth a thousand deaths. Through him, I experienced heaven on earth, something very few people find. So don’t cry for me, I was truly happy. But if you can’t stop your tears, save them for Salvatore… The one I left behind.“
  • Beyond by Chantal Fernando <— JUST RELEASED!!! Oh this sounds intriguing. Sheltered (is it a commune?) and her father tells her to choose a man to marry. She chooses the man she’s been crushing on, but… “Dane Mitchell doesn’t want to be forced into marriage. He is a soldier, a fighter, and has a bigger purpose in life. He doesn’t have the time to deal with a spoilt pampered princess such as Olivia, but owes his life to Evan, Olivia’s father. He accepts the marriage. But that doesn’t mean he has to like it.“
  • Sugar and Spice by Heidi McLaughlin, Caisey Quinn, Melissa Pearl, Anna Cruise, Elizabeth Lee, Megan Squires, Kelly Walker, T. G. Ayer <— JUST RELEASED!!
  • Finding Myself In You by Melanie Cole <— JUST RELEASED!! “Eighteen year old Taylor has had a crush on her brother’s best friend, Ryan, for five years. When she finally manages to get him, he’s not what she’d hoped he’d be. He’s a total player, using her for sex. When she begins failing her classes, she decides that school is more important. She convinces her professor to give her a second chance. He recommends one of his prior students to tutor her. She can tell that her tutor, Matt, has some serious issues by his cool surly attitude. There’s something about him, that makes her want to help him, but he refuses to let her in.“

  • Hollywood & Vine by Olivia Evans <— recent release and HIGHLY recommended by Kandace (and crew!). She said: ” I read it and loved it. He’s an actor and she’s a costume designer for the movie he’s working on. He’s a complete a$$ but in a delicious way. I loved their chemistry. It had a work romance feel to it and I’m a total sucker when the main characters work together. It is full of angst. It’s a full length standalone. Definitely a good read. I think a lot of your readers will love it.”

Carly Phillips – Dare to Love Series Reading Order & Exclusive Series Trailer

By Leave a Comment

Sexy series with 4 books out, and a 5th on the way in just a couple of weeks! The author sent over a few sexy quotes that made me blush. HARD! 😉 And a sexy series trailer for us to drool over…

Plus, Joy loves this one!

Joy: Finished reading it on Monday. It was AWESOME and HAWT. I highly recommend it!

And the author has sent over Five super fun and sexy quotes from the Dare Series (These aren’t your mother’s Carly Phillips novels – unless your grandma likes sizzling hot sex and alpha heroes who aren’t afraid to go after what they want).

Dare to Love – Ian:  “I should have cuffed her to the bed until she saw reason. A little dominance once in a while doesn’t hurt.”

Dare to Desire – Alex: “I need to f**k you, Angel. I need to be so deep I don’t know where you end and I begin.”

Dare to Surrender – Gabe: She was taken and all he could do was admire. Look and not touch. But if she ever became available, all bets were off.

Dare to Submit – Decklan: Damn woman thought she was too curvy? Too big? She’d deserved to have that ass slapped. Next time he wanted to bite. To mark her and gain the satisfaction of seeing his imprint on her skin.

Dare to Touch – Dylan: He reached into his pocket and pulled out a silk scarf. “Much as I wouldn’t mind getting kinky and tying you up, this is actually to make sure you don’t bring security running in here with your loud moans.”

*blush* eek
Wanna blush some more?

About book #1:

When it comes to family, Ian Dare gives his all but in relationships he offers the bare minimum. Until one glimpse of sensual Riley Taylor arouses his dominant and protective instincts. He will do anything to possess her … and does. But any future with Riley must include him dealing his half-brother who is a constant reminder of the pain he’d rather forget.

Riley Taylor believes herself immune to domineering men – until charismatic Ian Dare turns a simple kiss into an all out assault on her senses and she discovers she likes his brand of control in the bedroom. As their affair heats up, they soon realize they complete each other in ways neither imagined. But Riley’s past is closer than she cares to remember, and her struggles with Ian’s dominance might just cost her everything. (love story, contemporary romance, alpha heroes, beach reads, sports heroes, bad boys, billionaire)
