Latest Paranormal Book and Author News – October 22nd 2011

By 8 Comments

Some of you have been wondering what happened to my “FanFic” post, and I’ve decided to… put it on hold. When I first posted it, I was barely even a quarter in (yup, it *gets to you* that fast). I was thinking, “Wow!! I gotta tell everyone!” I was a reading machine for a couple of evenings late into the night (it’s super long), and happily turning into a reading zombie, and then, I hit a few chapters that… left me uncomfortable. So I’m taking a break.

But in the meantime, I’ve found something else that is very cute so far, (thanks to a few recommendations), and I figured I needed another “light and airy rock star read”. It hasn’t completely consumed me yet, but I’m only a quarter into it, and I’m already delightfully irritated with Will and Lizzy’s relationship, (even though I’m in full eyerolling mode with Charles and Jane). It’s called Fitzwilliam Darcy, Rock Star – Yay ROCK stars! Cause it totally is!!

So while I get back to reading and reviews, here are some author tidbits to get us in the mood 🙂

  • Tina Folsom has finished Zane’s book! She says: “Done! #Zane has his happy end. Of course, there will be some revisions.”
  • Karen Marie Moning is hosting a Barrons Birthday Bash Contest on Facebook – Ya gotta “turn yourself into “Mac” and upload your pic to her Facebook!! Who’s entering?? I’m certainly going to be checking out this contest (sounds like fun!!):

Barrons Birthday Bash Contest!
by Karen Marie Moning on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 3:57pm

In celebration of Barrons’ birthday, we’re postponing the dream cast voting for next week and holding a special contest instead called: Show us your Mac!  And we don’t mean your computer.

To enter: dress up as pink or black Mac, and have someone take a picture of you. Then on Monday October 24th, and Tuesday October 25th, you can post your best picture on KMM’s FB page.  Please only one entry per person. Karen will select the top 10 and we’ll post them for voting on Wednesday morning. The photo with the most ‘likes’ by Friday at noon EST wins.

“I’ll definitely talk more about REBEL SPRING when I get the book written and I receive the cover art. But in the meantime — Hooray! I’m a happy girl.”

  • In honor of Pamela Palmer’s latest release, she has posted book refreshers for the others in the series:

“Need a quick refresher on Feral Warrior books 1-5 before Ecstasy Untamed comes out next week? I’ve loaded complete synopses of each of the books on my website with spoilers. (These are not for those of you who haven’t read them, yet!).”

  • Another gorgeous cover alert!! Alexandra Ivy’s upcoming release My Lord Vampire (Immortal Rogues) – expected release February 28 2012. I think I’m making that today’s cover of the day!! Hey! Is that Paul Marron again? Today’s he’s both a shifter and a vampire. Nice!!
  • Richelle Mead’s got some good Eugenie news!!

“More good news for Eugenie fans. Shadow Heir’s release got bumped up a week to December 27. Save your holiday gift cards! :)”

  • Jeaniene Frost posted her recent Romantic Times Magazine online interview!! Ohhh a couple of highlights!!

About the length of her Night Huntress (Cat and Bones) series: “But, there is a firm finish at nine.”

Ruh Roh!!! Look!! We’ve been (okay… I’ve been moping a bit about the loss of excitement between Cat and Bones. Look what she said about that —> “Their external circumstances leads to internal pressure. Their relationship is definitely going to be tested in the next few books.”

Wooo hooo!!! The last time she said that, I was at the Romantic Times Convention at her author’s panel discussing the upcoming Cat and Bones (a couple of years ago). And guess what happened? That other vampire husband showed up in that book!! And you remember how awesome (and how utterly livid) Bones was, right?

Ohhh she said Home for the Holidays is a long short story – half the book (as found in The Bite Before Christmas) and there is a HUGE reveal in it about Bones!!

J.R. Ward Releases the Lover Reborn Cover!!!

Lover Reborn: A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood (release date March 27th 2012)
Look at this gorgeous cover!! Tohr looks tortured and I can’t wait to go on his journey with him. Considering he’s one of the original Brothers, I’m hoping this feels like *home* again.

I hope it has that steamy-crass-bad-boy-heart-wrenching drama that I love so much when it comes to these guys!! I mean, of course each book always *does* but I’m hoping this one’ll be super intense. Like old-school BDB intense. Considering how much he’s been through, and the tragic turn of his life, all he’s lost… I think we’re in for something BIG.

As per the author:

Tohr’s draft is finally done! He came in at a WHOPPING 754 manuscript pages, a total of 176,937 words AND he’s going to expand as I go through him the next two times soooooo we could be looking at a Rehv length (Avenged is the longest book in the series so far.) So… man, I’m wrung out- time to go for a run to work out the kinks!

WARDen…all I’ve got to say is, the longer, the better!!! Yay US!!!!

Recent Reader Recommendations

By 11 Comments

I’ve decided to post some of my reader recommendations. Considering I get so many of these each week (Thank you!! Keep ’em coming please), I figured I’d share a few of the ones that have been mentioned over and over again, and some that I’m hoping to get to soon.

Since I had so much luck with recent reader suggestions (“Fifty Shades” and the “Thoughtless” books anyone? 😉 hehe!),  it would be a shame not to highlight a few of them as I get them.

Unfortunately, I can’t always get to them as fast as I’d like, but maybe you guys can, and you can “second” the recommendations?

So here are the latest suggestions:

Audra sent me a VERY insistent recommendation, of a series I hadn’t even heard of. Looking at all of the reviews, I think I need to get on it. She says: “VAMPIRE EMPIRE by Clay and Susan Griffith….. I just really had to share the love for this series–I have not been into a series like this since the Fever series.   So different (not formulaic at all–i am so over that) and exciting and heart wrenching.  Really heart wrenching.” Book #1 –> The Greyfriar (Vampire Empire, Book 1)

Thanks to Alycia for this recommendation: “Gerry Bartlett… “Real Vampires Have Curves“? It’s a series. It had me laughing with every page. :)”

It does look cute and sort of reminds me of Mary Janice Davidson’s Queen Betsy series…

Oh here’s one that is OFTEN recommended: “I will just say have you read Chicagoland Vampire series…(book#1 Some Girls Bite: A Chicagoland Vampires Novel) (containing my excitement ) oh jeesh Maryse either Ms. Chloe Neill has to be one of the most brilliant authors or just plain mean (you’ll see after book 4 ). All the characters the friendships love triangles all of it (hint you will want a Chicago deep dish pizza) there is love, betrayal, ups downs, action, drama, sexual tension, anger, everything a girl could want…” – Thanks Patricia. I. Want. To. Read. This!

Here’s one from Juliette: “Have you Read Carrie Vaughns Kitty Norville series? I am in the middle of it and I love it…quick reads but great books!” Book #1 —> Kitty and The Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville)

Christine recommends “… Lili St. Crow’s Strange Angel’s novels.  I read the series in a row and loved them.  Couldn’t stop reading.  The series is paranormal (sorry, no bad boys) but still awesome.  I totally recommend.” book #1 —>Strange Angels

Lisa AND Denyne both recently suggested Lora Leigh’s Breed series (this one, too, is recommended regularly): “… felt compelled to tell you to read her Breeds series. It’s so good; you’ll go crazy! ” and “It deals more with the Were population, but they are great reads and very very addicting.”
Book #1 —> Tempting the Beast
