Outlaw
In the mood for an “easier” biker romance read? This one pretty much satiated my by biker sweet-tooth. It had a bit of that bad-a$$ thing going on, which is a must. I think it meant to have more, considering the initial subject matter and how they “handled” things, but it wasn’t quite to that gritty level. Still though, a touch of Kristen Ashley’s bad-boy speak, some drama a la motorcycle club (you know… territory issues, bad apples, witnesses… and “you don’t belong here” kinda stuff. ;)) and a whole lotta love. It had a bit of everything that some of our favorites had, but not quite enough to proclaim it a favorite. However, I was enjoying it and wanted to finish the book and can think back on it as a good “in-between” read.
3 stars
Book Review – Dark Light by S.L. Jennings
Dark Light (The Dark Light Series)
Brought to my attention recently by many enthusiastic readers and even a few enthusiastic authors (two of them are my favorites), so you KNOW I had to read this.
Tiffany: The Dark Light series is a Must Read!! ♥
Michele: Love it!!!
Maryse’s Book Blog: I keep hearing this!
Britto: Loved both books!!! Can not wait for the third!!
Julie: Reading the Dark Light Series, into book 2 now, I really like it! The first 20% of book 1 was a little slow then picked up. Anyone know if there’s a third book or is it just these 2?
Book Review – The Perfect Game by J. Sterling
The Perfect Game: A Novel (The Game Series Book 1)
Angsty roller-coaster of a read with some highs and lows for the characters (and for me as a reader, too). There were parts that I liked, extra-liked… and not-so-liked. But there was a part that I really latched on to. A crazy-good middle that had me hooked for a portion of it. But overall, it was a 3 star book for me.
The beginning was more of a generic/good/typical start. College good girl sees (and swoons over) college bad boy hottie at a party and of course she catches his eye, too. Friends immediately intervene with the whole “Stay away, he’s bad news.” You know. He’s a player… and everything that goes with that. Of course he’s a superstar amongst his peers (this one is a baseball hero), and he’s a sexual urban legend, too!
Book Review – Taking Chances by Molly McAdams
Taking Chances (Taking Chances and Forgiving Lies Book 1)
Okay, here is another one that spontaneously rushed it’s way to the top of my list this week. I heard about it for the first time a few days ago, but over and over again, the enthusiasm was making me antsy. I just couldn’t put it off and had to see what all the craze was about. And… you guys did good! I’m on the fence with just how much I liked/loved it. I’m literally half and half with this book and I can’t commit to a grade, because there were some parts (big parts) that were full-on five star for me (loved and hated parts, but they affected me SO much that I was all “OMG this just became a 5 star read!!”) and theennnnn….. some other parts (or maybe just my “issues”) that give me that “3 star” urge. Half and half.
Book Review – Sound Bites: A Rock & Roll Love Story by Rachel K. Burke
Sound Bites: HarperImpulse New Adult Romance
Here’s yet another example of my TBR list shifting when I suddenly spot something that I feel I MUST read. It showed up on my latest “bargains” list and I was really in the mood for a good old fashioned angsty rock star romance. I know, right!? What a surprising twist in my “usual” reading material. Doesn’t sound like me at all. Tee hee!!!
This one certainly called to me with the whole musician aspect and overall, I enjoyed it well enough. It’s not really what I’d call YA (despite what the cover looks like) as the characters are well into their twenties. Then again… it was pretty “tame”. It’s about everything that I could possibly relate to. The music, life after college, the friends, the venues, and my own “apartment living” days. A twenty-something woman returns to her home town after college (and after being betrayed by the two people closest to her).
