Marissa Farrar – The Monster Trilogy Reading Order

By 2 Comments

DARK READ KIDNAP & RECLUSE ALERT!!! Book #1 is super-bargain priced today, and the trilogy conclusion is coming out this month! It sounds pretty darn great! She has a phobia of being touched, and she’s kidnapped by a recluse that won’t let himself be seen in public. Yikes!!! This sounds right up my alley. Has anyone read these yet?

About book #1:

Monster
Hidden away from society by his criminal father, there lives a man who has never entered the outside world. Now, having taken over his father’s business, he has all the money and power he could dream of, yet still he refuses to let himself be viewed by the rest of society. read more

SUPER DARK ROMANCE READ ALERT! And book #2 is coming out in just a few days, so I just had to post this, especially considering the author’s warning! eekeek YIKES!!!!

***WARNING***
This is War, Baby is a dark romance. A really dark one. So dark you’re going to wish you had a flashlight to see yourself to the end and someone to hold your hand. Human trafficking, dubious consent, and strong sexual themes that could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. This story is NOT for everyone. read more

Book Review – Sparrow by L.J. Shen

Sparrow
This one had all the makings of my kind of guilty-pleasure thrill ride! With the whole kidnapping premise, and the forced marriage and living with (and hating) the captor, the unapologetic bad guy. The resistance, the fight and the fear. Finding out WHY he not only forced her from her life, but why she HAD to be his wife, too. Sounded like fun, to me!!

Cheryl: I don’t usually go for the mobster story, but couldn’t resist with all the positive recommendations. ;)

Anne: Just finished Sparrow and loved it!! The H was such a jerk but I fell so hard for him. The h was wonderful too! 5 stars from me. read more

The Ultimate Book List of Innocent and Sheltered Heroines (strict upbringings, or raised in a cult etc…)

So many of us get a real kick out of the dynamic and “social study” of a sheltered character (one that lives differently from the “social norms” due to strict upbringing, religious beliefs, and/or abusive situations) that is thrust into the “real” world.

They find themselves reevaluating everything they thought was true. New lessons to be learned as their fears, and their beliefs are tested, and that can make for an exciting, and/or emotionally heart rending journey for both that character and the reader! read more

Book Review – Room by Emma Donoghue

Room: A Novel
Absolutely intense!! What an incredible, terrifying, exciting, depressing, inspiriting, beautiful story! This will be a movie? HOLY MOLY! Even though I know the whole story already, I will absolutely be watching it. This one was… magnificent.

Karen:  One of the best books I have ever read out of my normal romance genre. The writing style is just brilliant!

Denise: I read that book a few years ago and could not put it down!!!

Allison: Room was very heavy. I read it probably not long after it came out and it stayed with me. It’s one of those books. It will always be with me. I hear a huge kidnapping story in the news, like Elizabeth Smart or thise 4 young girls that were kept together, and I don’t know. I just look at those stories through different eyes since reading Room. Such an amazing, well-written book. read more
