Nyx in the House of Night: Mythology, Folklore and Religion in the PC and Kristin Cast Vampyre Series
Edited by P.C. Cast? Yup. This isn’t another actual book in the series, but a companion of sorts. This one was sent to me by the publisher, (actually, TWO, one for me, and one for a lucky commenter), and I quickly realized it is a compilation of “works” (essays) by other authors, and professors. Analyzations and comparisons of past related folklore and mythology. Greek, vampyre, witches, the history of some Oklahoma landmarks that inspired the places in the story, Cherokee customs and beliefs, even… the history of cats (poor things, worshipped as gods and then despised as demons, and then… well we cuddle ’em now 😉 )

Today’s Paranormal Book Releases – June 7th 2011
Another big release day. A few highly anticipated YA books (such as a House of Night addition, and the latest Immortals from Alyson Noel), and one that I’m curious about, the latest by Laurell K Hamilton Hit List (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter).
I say curious. I’m treading lightly when it comes to Anita now, as I’ve been disappointed in a few of the latest ones. But, once upon a time, I was addicted to that series.

Book Review – Falling Star by Olivia Brynn
Falling Star (Earth Scents)
I did it again. I read a recently released vampire book that didn’t really do “it” for me. I needed my intensity fix so I scrounged around in my iPad, until I found another one of my guilty pleasures. SEXY HOT BAD BOY ROCK STARS. These books are very hard to find, but all that I’ve found, have been plenty satisfying. This one included. I didn’t intend to review it (it was just a little short “fun time” for me) but here I am still thinking about it, and I needed to let you know.

Book Review – Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Mockingjay (The Final Book of The Hunger Games)
To give you an idea of how I was feeling going into this book, here is a quick snippet from my Facebook page:
“OMG my jaw hurts so bad from constantly clenching my teeth while reading those last two books. And I still have a 3rd to go. I think I need to add aspirin to my reading table along with that box of crying kleenex…”
I know… it took me awhile to write this one, huh? Considering I finished it last Monday. This was another one of those “I need time to get over it” kind of series. Books that make you feel that way are always good but after the whirlwind Memorial Day weekend I spent with the Hunger Games crew, I was *spent*.
