Under the Cowboy’s Control (Contemporary Western Romance, Texas)
OK. I admit I found this one on another one of my “Travis-like-Beautiful Disaster” quests. I’m still looking for another heart breaker, and I’m bound to find it eventually. And while I liked this one enough to read it from start to finish in one sitting (it’s fairly short, and quite good), I didn’t like it enough for it to make one of my “top lists”. Enjoyable, but it didn’t put me in a tailspin.
Bad Boys & Rock Stars
Book Review – Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye
Hearts in Darkness
*love* I am considering this as one of my favorites in the “short” story category. Usually “shorts” don’t thrill me, because there’s not enough time to get to know the characters. Not the case with this one. I felt them. My only complaint is that I wanted more, by the time I finished it.
But what made it so good is that even in it’s shorter format, it had everything I needed to fall in love. Oh and the “steamy stuff” was off the charts… NOT a YA read. The story was original, and while one might think a little far-fetched, when you think about, this sort of thing could totally happen. Nuh uh! It totally could! If you don’t get your elevator serviced, it could! Oh humor me, and just go with it! LOL!
Fun Facts About Beautiful Disaster – One of My Favorite Books Ever!
I have an upcoming interview scheduled with the author of Beautiful Disaster (Jamie McGuire), but thought I’d compile a bunch of cool facts I’ve found regarding this book. Jamie speaks candidly on her Facebook pages, and has divulged some very interesting stuff!
So to hold us over until the interview, here’s a little treat for all of you Travis and Abby fanatics. A deeper look into this fantastic book that kept us up all night 😉
- Beautiful Disaster is not a Young Adult novel (rated mature, and is for ages 17+).
- “…this book was never meant to be published. It was just supposed to be “for fun” to stretch my writing wings a bit with a more mature piece. My fans have completely embraced it and I am thrilled!”
- As per a recent Facebook post, she used the names of some of her college friends for a few of her characters (highlighting America, Finch, Brazil, Shep).
- Jamie points out that the book originally had a different title:
“Fun Fact: Beautiful Disaster was written under the working title “Red Flag”, which later became the name of the first chapter.”
Book Review – How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo
How to Kill a Rock Star
Quick note – before we get started, I just wanted to say that I LOVED THIS BOOK. 5 star for me. You’ll see why I needed to make this clear…
Once upon a time (yesterday) I read a book. It enticed me from the very start. I was drawn in from the first few moments. I thought to myself…
“Self, isn’t this exactly what we’ve been looking for? An intelligent, thought provoking view into the lives of two people, seemingly fated for each other. Aren’t we having fun? Look at that silly smile on your face, Self. You’re so smug with your brand new shiny find. You know your readers are gonna love this, don’t you?”
Book Review – Rock Charisma by Joan P. Cooley
Rock Charisma
Ummmm. Nope. No Charisma. Rock, or otherwise. This book proved to me that being a “bad boy” or a “rock star” does not guarantee my devoted obsession. Some “bad boys” are just plain bad. Lesson learned with this one.
I was considering not reviewing it. However, after receiving a few notifications that there was another rock star book out there that I might want to look into (this one), I felt the need to let everyone know, I found it awhile ago, enthusiastically downloaded it (hey it was bargain-priced and looked like it would fulfill my rock star needs), but I was sorely disappointed.
