in Latest Book Releases

WEDNESDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!!! I JUST ADDED 6 MORE TO THE END of the “Contemporary Romance” section (below) that just went live today. You can’t miss ‘em ’cause I labelled them as today’s latest add-ons. :D

IT’S READY!!!! OMG I’ve been highlighting so many today, I’m feeling a bit obnoxious about it. LOL!! There are just so many good-sounding ones (today’s paranormal releases included), that I couldn’t help myself. 100+ again, and it’s the surprise ones that have my attention today!

Also, don’t forget to check out yesterday’s ➔ 14 Earlybird Book Releases list! :D

Okay now… time for my mini “blurb-jolt” list!!! Oh boy. There’s a lot of ‘em this time. Starting with The Burning World (’cause I love the concept of a zombie amongst millions that actually has retained some of his cognitive abilities and… love. ;) ), Something like Voodoo (mean girl witches!!! In high school. The worst! :P ), Love and Gravity (modern-day girl is in love with Isaac Newton – yes!! THE Isaac Newton – and he loves her back!!!!), Doppelgänger (she’s starting new in a small town and is suddenly paparazzi-stalked famous!), My Not So Perfect Life (she’s envious of her boss’s perfect life, and then her boss fires her!! P.S. There’s more that sounds even better than what I mentioned…), Open House (lonely woman in a long term relationship is crushing on her son’s teacher…), Zero to Sixty (her newfound puppy ends up being HIS puppy), Come Closer (an emotionally tortured doctor that works in a mental ward finds peace with one of his patients!!! *gasp* sounds forbiddeny!!), Always (she recognizes the homeless man she gives food to as her past love-of-her-life…)

And then of course, there’s MORE that I highlighted. I left a few out of my “blurb-jolt” list that TOTALLY gave me a blurb jolt, ’cause I need to catch up on the series, but trust me… they’re on my list.

P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

Me first?

Grey February 7, 2017 at 12:00 PM

Yay! *giggle* now… Let’s discuss this list and how angry I am that I’m still on a book buying restriction. *stomp, stomp* I want so many… Like Come Closer…and the Buttons & Lace and Buttons & Hate… And Open House… Gah! Maryse!!! WTF with this list!?!

Tessa February 7, 2017 at 12:03 PM

Lucca? Seriously? UGH! That means I have to get caught up and read Chloe! Oh, for those who like HS books, Nero is the first book. I absolutely loved that one, and the next Vincent. Just… I knew I should have grabbed Chloe. *goes and one clicks Chloe*

Maryse, Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones was released today. It’s a goblin king type book, YA, that Bev and I will be BR reading. :D

Tessa February 7, 2017 at 12:05 PM

Grey, it’s insane, right? This is the day that was going to overwhelm me. Then Lucca… Seriously! I adore Lucca in the series and can’t wait to read his story, though it’s kind of a spoiler to have that name.

Maryse February 7, 2017 at 12:09 PM

I know it, Grey. This list is ABSURD.

My “mini blurb jolt list” won’t be so mini, I suspect. YIKES.

So many that I didn’t even see coming, “new-to-me” and the like, but yeah, this one has some reading potential BIG TIME. :D !!!!

Maryse February 7, 2017 at 12:09 PM

Oh YAY Tessa! Okay I’ll add that one, too! :D

Leslie M February 7, 2017 at 12:47 PM

You know how we say we love certain things but “only in books”? I just read Heat Wave by Karina Halle (h is in love with her dead sisters widower) and I loved it!!! The premise “sounds” icky but I realized I must love the “forbidden-ness” of it because I’ve enjoyed other books with this trope.

Leslie M February 7, 2017 at 12:51 PM

Sorry, that was kind of random but I was feeling a little weirded out realizing how these talented authors can make us fall in love with crazy characters/scenarios.

Love and Gravity looks good, though more pricey for a new author (To me). That said, she has a book prior that I think I’ll try first, Before Ever After. It looks good too.

Also, Something Voodoo has me curious. Mean evil girls who do magic, a hero that is under their evil spell, and the girl who can break it? *grins* Sounds entertaining.

R. Renee February 7, 2017 at 1:52 PM

OMG how freaking cool is this? I MUST OWN! The Man I Love in French renamed “Prelude” and with a new cover! So far I can only find an ebook. I need the paperback!

Tasha J February 7, 2017 at 1:58 PM

I’ve been waiting on the new Sophie Kinsella! It’s $14 though and I’m not looking to spend that right now so i was going to reserve it at the library but it says I can’t hold anymore right now! :( If only everything I wanted didn’t have a darn wait list, it wouldn’t be so long. I may make a stop to the actual library and see if I get lucky. I’m next in line for Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil though Bev! I have no idea what I’m in the mood for right now. I feel like I should start my tbr read. Red Queen looks good or do I want funny? I just don’t know…..*sigh*
I’m FINALLY painting my bathroom print in a couple hours! I’m so nervous, I’ve never stenciled before and I don’t want to mess it up, but I can’t want to get this done either. It’s taking for-ev-er. We’ve had to mud like every day for the last week, paint the ceiling, the base coat and make sooo many decisions. I’m hoping for completion this weekend! (Eeep!) Wish me luck! Lol

R. Renee February 7, 2017 at 1:59 PM

Is Wintersong the one a bunch of you are reading? I keep seeing that one.

Tessa February 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM

Prelude seems like a more appropriate title. Honestly, if I were just now looking at it, going in blind, I’d have bought it off that cover and title.

I’m reading Fake Fiancee from Ilsa Madden-Mills. Cute, and seemed light enough with good enough writing to read before starting onto Wintersong. Besides, I love my swoony football heroes.

R. Renee February 7, 2017 at 2:01 PM

Ha! Miss Super Picky Book Lover LOL

Maryse February 7, 2017 at 2:15 PM

I say we make ELA FIRST TODAY since it’s her birthday. ;)

*hands Ela a cupcake with sprinkles and edible glitter stuff on it*

Blow out the unicorn candle, Ela!! Don’t forget to make a wish. :P

Tasha J February 7, 2017 at 2:20 PM

Happy Birthday Ela!!

Tessa February 7, 2017 at 3:28 PM

Happy Birthday Ela! *hands over a birthday cake martini* Though, you’ll probably want to wait for Amy’s. She makes them better than me.

R, yep. Well, Bev and I that I know of. She recommended it after I tried to read Goblin King and was bummed it was a DNF. I read the first five chapters and OOOOOOO.

Tessa February 7, 2017 at 3:32 PM

I have decided, that beyond all other books, I’m going to keep recommending Harry Potter from now on. You all believe Maryse hasn’t read them yet?

Ela February 7, 2017 at 3:33 PM

Awwwwwwwwwwwww Thanks Maryse!!!!!!!!! *blows out candle and twirls in the edible glitter* because we all know the glitter WILL NOT STAY ON THE CUPCAKE BUT GET INTO EVERY OTHER NOOK AND CRANNY….

Ela February 7, 2017 at 3:36 PM

Oh come on Tessa! Your martinis must be still good!

So are you saying you are liking Wintersong?????

Maryse February 7, 2017 at 3:41 PM

That’s right Tessa. Maryse has the WHOLE LOT OF ‘EM in her Kindle and has NOT read a single one.

*what’s HER problem?*

Maryse February 7, 2017 at 3:42 PM

Glittered crevices and martini cakes.

Don’t matter who made ‘em. Sounds like a good time to me! :P

Lisa Aiello February 7, 2017 at 3:50 PM

I read an ARC of Always by Sarah Gio (she runs into her former love who is now a homeless man with some serious mental issues…but they still have a bond/connection that she tries to reach out to him through). I thought it was a 4.5 read in case that trips anyone’s trigger. Gaahhhhh…I think I just spilled feelz all over myself remembering it!!

Lisa Aiello February 7, 2017 at 3:51 PM

Make that Always by Sarah Jio…the feelz got in the way of my typing!!!

Leslie M February 7, 2017 at 3:56 PM

Happy Birthday Ela!!! :)

*speaks in hushed whisper* I haven’t read HP either. I know, I know, what kind of book lover am I? But I cannot for the life of me get into fantasy type genres. *hangs head in shame*

Kylie February 7, 2017 at 4:07 PM

Heat Wave was great. My favourite out of Halle’s contemporaries, I think.

Ela February 7, 2017 at 4:08 PM

Maryse February 7, 2017 at 4:45 PM

I’m shameful.

Harry Potter-wise. ;)

Maryse February 7, 2017 at 4:45 PM

LOL Lisa.

I love how you refer to that. “Trips anyone’s trigger”

THAT IS PERFECT. That’s like “blurb-jolt” :P

bev February 7, 2017 at 4:54 PM

Maryse, who has glittered crevices? ????

Ela, no. We are book nerds, movies don’t count. ;)

Tessa, I can start in a few hours. Oh, I hope it lives up to expectations.

Jean, I’m so sorry……but TASHA IS NOW MY FAVORITE!!!!

Tessa February 7, 2017 at 4:55 PM

LOL No. In fact, I should just say, don’t watch the movies until you read the book. There are MAJOR details missing in the movies that are in the book. I had people who only saw the movie asking tons of questions to try to figure out why things happened.

I’ll say this. My mom HATED fantasy or paranormal type stories. She was more the mystery/ romance type, or medical horror. She loved Harry Potter. As soon as I was done, she’d start reading my copy. She’d join in on the debates and theories. This from someone who hated fantasy and sci fi. :D

bev February 7, 2017 at 4:55 PM

Ela, Happy Happy Happy Birthday!!!!

I hope it is filled with fun, books, and cake.

bev February 7, 2017 at 4:57 PM

Tessa, My mom watched the first movie and then joined me in reading the books. I loved it. It means more to share it like that.

Tessa February 7, 2017 at 5:04 PM

That’s awesome! I got my whole family into it. My brother had it but didn’t touch it (Christmas gift). My niece got it for her birthday and hadn’t touched it. I just started pimping the book out, and ran and got all the books available at the time (Four). lol We all started getting excited about release days.

Fabi February 7, 2017 at 5:08 PM

Maryse I’m hopping on your HP shame-train.

I’ve seen a couple of the movies but no-go on the books. :-(

Maryse February 7, 2017 at 5:08 PM

Ela has glittery crevices already, so early in the day… she said so herself!

It’s a good thing it’s her birthday. ;) She gets a glittery crevice pass. :P

MichelleS February 7, 2017 at 6:31 PM

I never read HP either! I think I missed that boat due to my age. But I watched all the movies! Couldn’t possibly go back & read them now!

bev February 7, 2017 at 7:35 PM

MichelleS, yes you possibly can. ;)

Then Ela, glitter it up.

Grey February 7, 2017 at 8:03 PM

Happy Birthday Ela!!! Care with the cake and glitter… you don’t want to mix that up and get cake in your crevices…. or… *shrug* maybe you do… *wink*

I’ve read HP and watched the movies… prefer the books over the movies. Actually read the books out loud to/with my oldest as her bedtime story… over the course of a year. It was awesome!

Amy February 7, 2017 at 8:28 PM

I said it on the other post but it needs to be said here as well…HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELA!!!!

Birthday cake shots all around in honor of our feisty, caps-lovin’ friend!!! :D

Amy February 7, 2017 at 8:32 PM

“Ela has glittery crevices” <—- OMG Maryse, WHAT did you do to her?!? LOL!!

Er, I haven't read any of the HP books or seen any of the movies. *ducks from incoming peanuts*

Leslie…not many things are considered icky here, at least as far as forbiddenny or taboo subjects goes. Even if we are initially shocked (*ahem* milking machine) it often ends up being a click or BR. ;)

Tessa February 7, 2017 at 8:37 PM

AMY! Read it. You know how you don’t like male POV unless it’s super good. This is SUPER GOOD.

bev February 7, 2017 at 8:40 PM

You know who is a Harry Potter fan?

Amy February 7, 2017 at 8:46 PM

*groans and hides head under pillow*

Maryse February 7, 2017 at 8:47 PM

Simon’s cool. He knows all the cool things.

We should read Simon. :)

Maryse February 7, 2017 at 8:48 PM

she said milking machine…

bev February 7, 2017 at 8:53 PM

Yes. Yes you should. After you get back from space….If you come back.

I can’t believe Amy will proudly talk of milking machines but hide her head at Simon.

Amy February 7, 2017 at 8:57 PM

Hey, that milking machine led several of y’all to agree to a BR. *snicker*

bev February 7, 2017 at 8:59 PM

“Beware the Goblin men.”
I’m starting it for commute home.

This came this week and still have Pretty Face and Devil in Spring this month.
Can. Not. Wait.
Good book month.

Tasha J February 7, 2017 at 9:01 PM

Are we talking Carry On Simon? It’s Harry Potter-esque right? And there’s not like 4 books after, lol. I read the 1st Harry Potter in jr high or high school, can’t remember. And watched a couple movies but that’s all.
Wintersong looks intriguing, I’ll wait to see what ya’ll think before I add it.
I’m about halfway done with the stenciling, should finish tomorrow. It was a bit of a b*%!h, but not as bad as I thought. All the positioning and aligning is crap. And screw washing afterwards, I tossed it and am buying new. And I picked the worst wall to do it on bc on the water lines and electrical and light switches. Ugh. But it’s so pretty! So that makes up for it. Lol

bev February 7, 2017 at 9:12 PM

Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda Simon.

What’s the design, Tasha?

Tasha J February 7, 2017 at 9:19 PM
My husband picked it out actually. I stood in hobby lobby- no joke – for 3 hours trying to decide. He was getting crabby with me to just pick. But some days are really bad for my decision making, it’s a disease I swear. I spent the whole car ride home and the day after wondering if I made a mistake. Lol. Only on one wall, the vanity wall. All the walls are a gray (a shade lighter than the hall) and the print is a shade lighter than that. It almost looks like a cream. I’m going to try to take pics when it’s 100% complete.

bev February 7, 2017 at 9:54 PM

That’s pretty, Tasha. It sounds like it will look very elegant.

Cheryl February 8, 2017 at 12:30 AM

Happy Birthday Ela and I haven’t read HP either. Have seen the movies-multiple times. Heck I think it’s HP weekend on tv every weekend!!

Krissy Daniels February 8, 2017 at 12:48 AM

Thank you for including Truck Stop Tango! You made my day. :)

Grey February 8, 2017 at 6:27 AM

No. Stop. Full stop. There’s this many of you that haven’t read Harry Potter for real?!? Ouch… That kind of hurts… I loved HP… Or maybe it was more seeing my kid so stinking excited for her bedtime story and the corresponding love of reading it inspired in her…. And now in my son, who now is following in his sister’s footsteps with the book love. This trip I just took to Universal, he got picked in the wand ceremony to get the Elder Wand… It was so cool. So yeah… I got nothing but love for HP…

Leslie M February 8, 2017 at 6:42 AM

It’s funny because I want to be into HP. I’ve tried reading book and audio (hated the narration). I think I need to watch movie to picture in my head what it’s all about and then try reading it again. My teenage son hasn’t read it either and has copy on his bookshelf. His English teacher got him into Rick Riordan he completed Percy Jackson and is now reading Hero’s of Olympus.

Ela February 8, 2017 at 8:48 AM

Cheryl February 8, 2017 at 9:43 AM

Hey Grey I have love for HP too. Did read first book with son- and then both he and my daughter read all the books and my hubby, who all give me grief about not reading the books. We also did Universal and my daughter was picked for the sorting hat.

Jean February 8, 2017 at 10:40 AM

You guys! I am drowning in books! Just popping in to say hi!

I read Gravity and LOVED IT! And now, I’m 40% into Fake Fiancee and omg, it’s GREAT! The cover is totally deceiving because this book is reminding me of the Off Campus series by Elle Kennedy! The same feels! Loving it!!!!!

Tessa February 8, 2017 at 11:12 AM

Jean, have you read her other books? She’s an insta-buy for me. :D

You all need to read HP. I will say that the 3rd book (not movie. The third movie was the biggest disappointment) changes everything and truly makes the series darker.

Tessa February 8, 2017 at 11:15 AM

36% into Wintersong and the writing just sucked me in.

Fabi February 8, 2017 at 11:18 AM

Jean! I want to BR Singe by Aly Martinez with you. At some point…

Jean February 8, 2017 at 11:28 AM

Tessa, I haven’t, but just checked and do have Dirty English and the first 3 books of Briarcrest Academy! You guys are gonna love this book!

YES FABI! You tell me when you’re ready!

Jean February 8, 2017 at 11:32 AM

Hey, for those of you that read The Bird and the Sword, I saw Amy Harmon posted an update on GR that she will be doing a book about Kjell!

Amy February 8, 2017 at 2:09 PM

Jean, that’s so exciting!! I saw at the end of Bird and Sword there would be another book coming out this Spring and was hoping it would be about him! :D

Amy February 8, 2017 at 2:10 PM

Confession time…

I have no desire to read or watch HP.

*frantically clambers into blankie fort to hide*

Leslie M February 8, 2017 at 2:35 PM

Omg, you guys!!! My face literally hurts from laughing so hard. I just now had chance to watch those bad lip reading videos!!! I am peeing my pants!!!

Funniest thing ever!!!

Tasha J February 8, 2017 at 2:49 PM

Oh, I love the Off Campus books Jean, that sounds good!!
And thanks Bev! It does sound, and look elegant currently but I’m hoping to jazz it up with colorful accessories. I was planning on the mirror frame, maybe knobs, possibly a cabinet. We’ll see when we get there. I lied on how much easier stenciling *seemed* to be. I despise doing the edges, so I quit again. Round 3 tomorrow.

bev February 8, 2017 at 3:13 PM

Yes, Tessa it sucked me in to.
Different than what I thought, but so want to go back. Just like 5 more hours, lol.

Amy, we can still see an Amy sized lump, you know?

bev February 8, 2017 at 3:20 PM

Tessa, for some reason I thought it was going to be present day in the US. I like how she is taking her time and not over explaining things.
Though I got a little disoriented when the heroine did not realizing time and memory was being altered.

Tessa February 8, 2017 at 3:31 PM

Ummm. Let’s make a spoiler page on GR.

Tessa February 8, 2017 at 3:36 PM
Fabi February 8, 2017 at 4:09 PM

bev bev! bev!!! I’m at 86% of Bitter Legacy and I’m dying !!! OMG I knew it I knew it I …didn’t want to know it. aaahhhhhhhh! I can’t think, I can’t work, I can’t breath – I just have to read read read to see how it ends. Whaaaaaa!

Amy February 8, 2017 at 4:16 PM

For the record…I’m totally taking a screenshot of bev’s enthusiastic comments with the caps and exclamation points up there. We don’t get to see that from her too often. ;)

Maryse February 8, 2017 at 5:09 PM

OMG and she exclaimed, toooooo???!!!

Maryse February 8, 2017 at 5:10 PM

Amy you know one day I’m gonna post that confession.

But I’m bringing ALL of us in there that haven’t it read it, so you won’t be alone. ;)

Me too.

Maryse February 8, 2017 at 5:24 PM

My pleasure Krissy!!! :D

Tessa February 8, 2017 at 5:56 PM

Okay. HP. This is not a spoiler, but it’s barely made mention of in the movie. In the beginning, Harry was a severely abused child. Barely fed, lives in a closet, hit a lot, beaten by his much beginner cousin, without friends because everyone was scared of his cousin, and told constantly he was nothing, and would end up as waste like his dead parents.

Does that sound like a happy kids book?

Fabi February 8, 2017 at 8:16 PM

bev, I thought I’d posted earlier about how crazy Bitter Legacy made me. But now I don’t know where it was I posted. I was pretty freaked when I posted it. LOL

Thank you so very much for recommending and loaning me this book. Easily the best I’ve read so far this year. I meant to make it last until Friday, but I got caught up in it this morning and haven’t been able to stop reading all day. I’ve done nothing else! WOW!!! What a ride!

bev February 8, 2017 at 8:44 PM

Lol, I just saw it up there, Fabi.
I love that reaction, lol.
I couldn’t put it down either. I needed to see how it turned, I just enjoyed that world I wanted to stay there.
Wasn’t it great? Just loved Jamie as the pov. Really loved most of the characters.

bev February 8, 2017 at 8:47 PM

Tessa, great idea. I’m just about to pick it up again for ride home.

Um..I can’t remember what I was excited about. Unless it was Tasha maybe reading Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil if her library has it in. Then yes, yes I am excited. It is a freaking great book.

Tasha J February 8, 2017 at 9:41 PM

Lol Bev, you have me excited to read it. But, no not in yet. You can have the library read for up to 21 days so who knows when it’ll get here. Sometimes I get a surprise and it’s here within the week, sometimes it takes a couple weeks. I’m also next in line for Roman Crazy. They tend to all come in at once so no matter how long I’ve waited, I’m never able to finish them all. It sucks but I’ve saved tons of money doing it this way! And I’ve already spent all my xmas gift card money. :( I’m still at a loss for what to read right now, I think I’m too exhausted to start anything. We went sledding today!! We haven’t done that in almost 2 years. Well, *I* haven’t done it in longer than that, but we haven’t had the snow for it. It’s funny bc it’s been so warm lately, yesterday was 60 degrees and here today we can go sledding! I don’t think I like the weather’s new normal. I miss winter being winter, spring being spring and so on. But oh man do I ache! That hill was torture. I think I fell more than climbed. Lol

Amy February 8, 2017 at 10:30 PM

“Amy you know one day I’m gonna post that confession.” <—— Aw man, that's gonna come back to bite me in the a$$!!! :P

And yes, that was freaking GREAT to see the caps and exclamations from bev!! Such a treat. *giggle*

But I'm following rule 4 of MBB – no hugging bev.

Amy February 8, 2017 at 10:31 PM

Tasha, sledding sounds like SO much fun and so worth the exhaustion. :D

Tessa February 9, 2017 at 12:04 AM

I finished Wintersong. I couldn’t stop reading it.

Lisa February 9, 2017 at 4:53 AM

Sooo many comments to catch up on.
Im melting here in Aus. It was 86 on your scale over night!! Im sick of being sweaty. Someone tell me a wintery tale so I can visualize ‘cool’.
Read some weird ones lately…Passion and Ponies?
On to the Wrecking one after all the recs.

Jean February 9, 2017 at 7:28 AM

Liss, sorry you are hot because its a snow day here for me which equals book readng day! Yippee! No work!

Lisa February 9, 2017 at 7:30 AM

Im going to visualize snow day while I try to go to sleep tonight Jean. Happy reading!

Lisa Aiello February 9, 2017 at 8:35 AM

Here’s a wintery tale – yesterday morning, I had to leave for work at 5:45 am because of snow and ice. See, I’m smart like that…cuz I can basically pinball off the curbs if no one else is on the road. However, those who left later were stuck in traffic hours. Main roads basically became parking lots – not because of accidents, but because people forget how to drive when it snows. By lunchtime, 4-5 inches of snow were pretty much gone. It’s cold today, but tomorrow it’s supposed to be 61 degrees. Welcome to Nebraska!!

bev February 9, 2017 at 8:42 AM

No snow for me. :(

Yeah, I saw that Tessa, lol.

Ela February 9, 2017 at 9:29 AM

Lisa, we are having the same issues with temperature but no snow (thank goodness), one day it’s 50 the next it’s 16….Welcome to Chicago (well Schiller Park is a neighboring suburb but you get the gist….)

Ela February 9, 2017 at 9:29 AM

Ela February 9, 2017 at 9:30 AM

Sigh! I miss this “Candy canes and pine cones and epic and awesome.” Wolfsong TJ Klune

DG February 9, 2017 at 9:33 AM

So weighing in…or wading in… either way. As far as HP goes.. watched the movies never read the books.

Happy belated birthday Ela! Hope that glitter was easy to get out!

Jean February 9, 2017 at 9:43 AM

Ela! I missed your birthday! Hope it was great!

Jean February 9, 2017 at 9:45 AM

It was 65 degrees here yesterday and today feels like 17 and snow! The weather has been nuts! (Welcome to Pennsylvania!)

bev February 9, 2017 at 9:45 AM

“Once there was a little girl who played her music for a little boy in the wood. ”
Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

I read a review that described the writing as “lush” and I think I agree with that.

Fabi February 9, 2017 at 9:51 AM

I think the weather is crazy all over the states. In TX, 80+ yesterday, 30′s this morning.

Fabi February 9, 2017 at 9:53 AM

“Seth Lang wanted out of Berlin.” Guarding Mr. Fine by HelenKay Dimon

Tessa February 9, 2017 at 10:49 AM

A Wintersong was emotional for me. The writing was beautiful, and I really enjoyed how emotions and personality were shown through music. Truly, different and beautiful. I’ve read 8 out of ten of these. I have the 2 I haven’t read in my TBR. The biggest complaint is the lack of Kate Daniel’s, but that’s Urban Fantasy, not PNR.

No FLT yet. I don’t want to jump into King’s Cage yet because I want to cleanse my pallet. Probably with a happy CR.

Jean February 9, 2017 at 10:52 AM

FLT: I’d been having the same dream for the past month—the one where a dark stranger materialized out of smoke and shadows to play doctor with me. (First Grave on the Right, Darynda Jones)

Giving it a shot…. Not really sure what I’m in the mood for though.

Amy February 9, 2017 at 10:58 AM

“The eviction notice was hanging on the door when they got back from the hospital.” ~ The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith

Tessa, I’ve only read 2 from that list but I have 3 in my TBR. One of these days I’ll get caught up on the BDB and Fever series…

Grey February 9, 2017 at 11:01 AM

FLT- “The eviction notice was hanging on the door when they got back from the hospital.” The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith

4%… Wowsa… To be fair, I haven’t read much yet… But I feel like this may be my FLT all February long…

Grey February 9, 2017 at 11:02 AM

Yay Amy!!!! How far in are you??

Lisa Aiello February 9, 2017 at 11:04 AM

FLT – As I lie in my bed, with only the persistent ticking of the wall clock to keep me company, memories of the night I fell in love flood every fiber of my being.
Dying Wish – Margaret McHeyzer

Amy February 9, 2017 at 11:09 AM

Grey…2% so far. *giggle* I haven’t had much reading time since I first picked it up.

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 11:40 AM

Here I am loving a creepy stalker book again.

And again… another woman as the stalker. Good times. LOL!!!! This definitely has a bit of “The Opportunist” feel, and “Bad Mommy” and that other one (or 3) I enjoyed not too long ago. ;)

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 11:41 AM

I forgot. The Gann buddy read. Gah. I’m a HORRIBLE book-buddy.

Just awful.

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 11:42 AM

I squirreled even before I opened it. I’m a bit disappointed in myself. The stalker was calling me… and Alessandra Torre recommended it, and well, you know me. I like her, and I like psych-thrillers love stories. And it’s pretty darn good, too. So far anyway.

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 11:44 AM

Okay here’s my FLT:

“For the last ten years, I’ve vowed that this moment wouldn’t bother me, but it does.”

Lauren Campbell. The Evolution of Ivy: Poison – Book One

Tessa February 9, 2017 at 11:47 AM

Lol Proof you are a mood reader, Maryse. That book is so long, you’ll probably be done with your thriller and they’ll only be 25% in, and trying to get you to BR.

DG February 9, 2017 at 11:53 AM

Just to say – Wolfsong was a five star for me. Abso-freaking-lutely FLOVED it. Would have never even glanced at it if it wasn’t all the raving comments from you ladies.
And Ela, I miss the “candy canes and pine cones and epic and awesome” too. I might just have to make me a shirt with that on it!
I need some recs on books similar to Wolfsong … I haven’t read too many shifter / paranormal books. Any suggestions???

Tessa February 9, 2017 at 11:58 AM

The crowd was fierce.
Strung by Rachel Van Dyken

It’s Tear through Alec’s and Demetri’s POV. I didn’t know this book existed, so I’m super happy. I absolutely adored Tear and all her Seaside books.

Tessa February 9, 2017 at 12:02 PM

Similar to Wolfsong is hard because the characters made that story. Most shifter books I’ve read are about the alpha male type. Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs is an exception since the two men are strong, but Adam personality is like Ox. Strong but not cocky.

DG February 9, 2017 at 12:02 PM

FLT – “I have something for you.” Grievous (Scarlet Scars Book 2). JM Darhower

Which was another GREaT read! Not as many surprises as in Menace but a little bit of a twist thrown in. Love when Monsters are put to bed!

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 12:04 PM

DG… I LOVED this one (back in the day when I first was trying to recapture that “Twilight” feel).

This is kind of a cult classic in the original indie-freebie days…

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 12:06 PM

Tessa… definitely a mood reader. And I’m always in the mood, at least these days, for twisty or jaw-dropping appallment. LOL!!

But if it has a love story (even if it’s a crazy one), even better!

Amy February 9, 2017 at 1:01 PM

Ooh!! I have that Ivy book and was eyeing it the other day…and it has a TF feel to it???

Aw crap, I’m feeling squirrelly. :? You’re NOT helping my resolve to stick to my plan, Maryse!!

Tessa February 9, 2017 at 1:05 PM

You will read last hour of Gann, Amy! lol

My favorite series with shfiters is Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniel series. It’s a very different feel (And the beast lord is freaking ALPHA to the nth degree) but the world they made is just so unique and fun. The romance isn’t as heavy to start, (It’s urban fantasy, not PNR) but still so different with it’s vampires, necromancers, witches, gods, and shifters.

Amy February 9, 2017 at 1:19 PM

I really liked the Nicky Charles books! I read it when I was just starting to move from YA PNR to the more “grownup” books, and the sexy times in her books were new to me and just WHEW! *fans self* The first one is still free.

But Tesssssssssaaaaaaaa…the Ivy book sounds SO good! *pouts* Maybe I’ll read both at the same time. ;) I’ll hold out though until we have more feedback from Maryse.

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 1:29 PM

I’m never a help. ;)

Fabi February 9, 2017 at 1:49 PM

Ooohhh Maryse is a troublemaker ;-)

“I roll my suitcase along the indoor cobblestone, a pathway leading towards The Red Death.”

Amour, Amour by Becca & Krista Ritchie

OK, so I’m being buried alive here in Massachusetts. Blizzard going on…getting over a foot of snow!!

Amy February 9, 2017 at 2:13 PM

*sigh* I’m going to be a good girl and not get enticed by the pretty being dangled in front of me.

I’m FAR too influence-able lately. Whole Foods, anyone? :P

Amy February 9, 2017 at 2:14 PM

All of you snow people are making me jealous! We had snow earlier in the week but the rain has come and melted it all away now.

Tasha J February 9, 2017 at 2:25 PM

I just read an excerpt for Laurie Lico Albanese’s ‘Stolen Beauty’- holy crap, how did I miss this one?! *fans self* It says it released Tuesday, ahh I want to read it so bad.
FLT for now (because I just might squirrel ;) )- “The thing about lying to your parents is, you have to do it to protect them.” Twenties Girl, Sophie Kinsella

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 3:20 PM

None of you snow-people are making ME jealous.

I remember when Gann was released and romance book bloggers and reviewers and commenters were going crazy for it.
I put it off as a someday. Then my book buddies here pocked it up so I took the plunge and kick myself I didn’t do it sooner.
Honestly, I feel like you are missing out. If you read it and like it, no are consumed by it, then I bet if you did a comparison the Ivy, even if you like it and it becomes a favorite, book is not going to come close.
Not close as to how well written, dark, humorous, unique, and immersive Gann is.
Missing. Out.

bev February 9, 2017 at 3:57 PM

Gah. If you can make sense of that. I am typing fast…back to work I go.

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 4:03 PM

LOL!! It made ALL the sense.

Grey February 9, 2017 at 4:11 PM

Um. Whoa. Gann…. that is all.

Tessa February 9, 2017 at 5:03 PM

Amy, you got snow? I’m jealous. I’ve been told it snowed here in 1989 and it snowed here when I was a baby and lived here, in 1977. Yeah. Other than the baby thing, never lived in snow. It started to snow once on the way to work when I lived in Riverside, but melted by the time it hit an object.

So, my weather today is… rain. You all want to know why I love the rain though? All my life, I’ve never lived anywhere that got more than 15 inches a year. So rain is a phenomena that almost always only happens in winter and early spring.

Tasha J February 9, 2017 at 5:20 PM

George Clooney is having twins you guys! Not book related but, those are gonna be some gorgeous babies!! Lol

Fabi February 9, 2017 at 6:02 PM

Always jealous of men in their 50s, 60s+ having babies. So not fair!

Lisa February 9, 2017 at 6:28 PM

I agree Fabi! No ticking biological click for guys. They can turf their middle aged wives and start again with a newer, younger model.
Then I think about toddlers and sleepless nights and diaper changes… raising a baby now in my 50s and I cringe.
No doubt George will never see a dirty diaper.
Id do it if I could have a team of nannies!! :)

FLT: “I always enjoyed the train wreck that came with Hollywood’s falling-outs, whether it was friendships, love stories, or simply superstars throwing shade at other superstars.” Lost in Scotland.

Amy February 9, 2017 at 6:41 PM

HA! He had twins on the show ER way back in there day. Well, he had already left the show but his GF had them after he left.

Yep Tessa, we had some snow. :D I’m with you…not much rain or snow where I lived growing up so I LOVE the frequent rain and occasional snow here.

MichelleS February 9, 2017 at 6:42 PM

Tessa – have read 9 out of 10 on that PNR list. Haven’t read Angel’s Blood, or ANY by that author.

Leslie M February 9, 2017 at 7:29 PM

Snow SUCKS!!!!!!

13.5 inches here just today!!!

I’m major grumpy. Packing my suitcase and heading to Florida to Maryse’s or maybe to some of my Aussie friends??

Leslie M February 9, 2017 at 7:55 PM

Hey, I just noticed Maryse just called me “picky” again!!!

Hmmpph! Well, I guess if the shoe fits…right??? ;)

Jan February 9, 2017 at 7:59 PM

Come to us here in warm Australia, Leslie. We’ll welcome you with open arms :) I’m on a beach holiday at the moment. Loving it. I’m watching the waves lapping the golden sand right now, from my holiday house window. Going to go for a beach walk soon. Jealous, anyone?????

Some great FLTs up there today. Mine is from a HR – The Soldier by Grace Burrowes. “Why is that sitting on my fountain?”

Tessa February 9, 2017 at 8:10 PM

“Tessa – have read 9 out of 10 on that PNR list. Haven’t read Angel’s Blood, or ANY by that author.”

*Thunk* Oh Michelle! You know how I have those couples that just move me more than others? Charles and Anna, Vlad and Leila? Well, the third on my PNR favorite couples is Raphael and Elena. The story is one of the best, but the relationship just touches my heart. You should read it!

Tasha J February 9, 2017 at 8:14 PM

I’m a little jealous Jan. I mean, I love the snow for a few days or even a week would be nice but then I’m ready for it to go. And maybe come back once or twice, it is winter after all. It’s supposed to warm up to 40-50s the next couple days so everything we got should melt. I love how you guys say ‘holiday’ instead of vacation. It sounds more fun somehow. Lol

bev February 9, 2017 at 8:27 PM

I’m one of those that gets jealous of snow not heat. Though I’d LOVE to visit Australia.

bev February 9, 2017 at 8:31 PM

I’ve read 6 of those pnr books.

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 9:17 PM

If the PICKY shoe fits, wear it, Leslie!!! :P

Maryse February 9, 2017 at 9:18 PM

YAY!!! I want a “holiday” visit with you guys right here in the winter Florida sun. ;)

Leslie M February 9, 2017 at 9:31 PM

Maryse, did you grow up in Canada or just born there? What brought you to Florida? Talk about major climate change!

Leslie M February 9, 2017 at 9:36 PM

Ok, “Ms. Picky Pants who tries to love PNR but just cant” (aka – me) has dnf-ed 5 out of those PNR books. :(

Cheryl February 9, 2017 at 11:00 PM

Snow day here today but I didn’t get to read a lot. We’re going to re-paint our kitchen and re-do our mud room area so I was researching some mud room ideas after finishing Fake Fiance by Ilsa Madden-Mills.

Yeh I’ll take the warm summer night over the freezing cold winter one!!!

Lisa February 9, 2017 at 11:08 PM

Come on over bev, Leslie…anyone who wants some sun. 107 degrees today. Just spent 40 minutes floating in tbe sea now Im lining up for a Acai and coconut bomdia..come join me.

Jan February 10, 2017 at 1:31 AM

Ouch Lisa. It’s not that hot here today (Port Fairy, Vic) I feel your pain. We had that a few days ago. But I wouldn’t mind that drink. Not too sure what it is but I want one ;)

Snow day, huh? Something I’ve read about in books…… LOL.

Lisa February 10, 2017 at 1:54 AM

Jan. Not a drink. A little slice of yummy heaven…and its health……I am addicted to these bomdia bowls.

Love Port Fairy. Enjoy.

First line(s) Friday:
‘Some men reek of trouble. Trey Marks is one of those men’

Love in Lingerie Alessandra Torre.

I really enjoyed this book. Very centred on the two MC with little backstory or support characters but was a very gradual, slow burn. It worked for me.

MichelleS February 10, 2017 at 9:25 AM

I’m in Texas, so weather is a roll of the dice kind of situation. Have gone through three seasons this week alone.

Maryse February 10, 2017 at 11:05 AM

LOL Fabi! It’s on February 7th post. And now I’m highlighting your reaction on today’s. :) Tee hee!!

Maryse February 10, 2017 at 11:10 AM

I was born in Canada and lived there until my 23rd birthday (where I came for a vacation in Florida for my birthday, and to meet up with friends at an expo in Orlando). I eventually got married, and the rest is history. ;)

Fabi February 10, 2017 at 12:12 PM

I just saw that a book I read last year is now in development for film by 20th Century Fox. I always think that’s so cool.

The book is CyberStorm by Matthew Mather. I listened to it on Audible last year with a great narrator. This was a creepy technothriller that held me spellbound watching the rapid collapse of civilization during a bizarre combination of events.
