And, nope, I haven’t read this one yet, and YEP I need my Dex-fix. SO bad!!!

Erin: Why~oh~why do I have to work on the day that Come Alive is released 🙁 I guess I have to keep up with my Amazon one-click problem 🙂 haha

Kristi: So, What’s everyone reading?? HAHAHA!!!! EIT ladies!!!!!

Sally: I did it! I finally did it! I jumped on the paranormal train. I am knee deep in the EIT series (starting Lying Season book 4 right now) I know, I know I said “I DON’T DO PARANORMAL! NO WAY! NO HOW! NOT ME!….. Evidently I LOVE THIS SH!T! Or maybe I just love Dex & Perry. I don’t know & I don’t care, I just need to keep going like the fiend I am right now! Thanks Johanna I am officially addicted! My house is a mess, I’m a mess, I need to shave my legs, & my husband will probably leave me for some illiterate bombshell who hates to read! AND IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT! 4 stars. Dex is waiting for me 🙂

Brenda: I was exactly the same I don’t usually read paranormal either. Ended up reading every single book in a week. Was so sleep deprived and crazy from reading them obsessively. Loved them. Best characters ever.

Jeannie: You will LOVE Lying Season!!! Then you are going to rip right into On Demon Wings…..

Claudia: I’m not a paranormal fan but when I read the first book “Dark House” and met Dex I just couldn’t stop reading..the good thing was..I read 5 books back to back..lol…GOOD TIMES!!!

Missy: That’s hilarious!!! I’ve only dipped my toe into EIT. I’ve read about 9% into the first book, then moved on. I know, I know, I’ve got to push through to get to the really good stuff. One day……

Ashley: Oh Lying Season was my favorite…or maybe Into the Hollow, but maybe Come Alive will be. Hell, they’re all my favorite, lets be honest!

Toski: I still have not read these.. so tell me- If I have never read a lot of paranormal– Are they must reads?? Did you love them?

What what whaaaaat??? Toski… Toooooskiiii!!! For real? READ THIS series!!! Kandace and Missy… y’all are only hurtin’ yourselves. Keeeeeep reeeeeadinng!!! Finish book #1 (sure sure… it’s not the best one in the series, but I liked it well enough over all – you’ll see, even that book gets pretty good… especially that cool weirdish Dex ending). But it’s once you get to book 2 and onward, that your Dex-head will really start spinning. And book #3. OMG. THAT ONE. YES! And then book #4 put me in an absolute tailspin frenzy  (my FAVORITE)… #5, #6 LOVED LOVED LOVED (ohhhh YES #6 – I loved as much as #4). And now we have #7 —> Come Alive (Experiment in Terror #7).

My weekend is complete.

Please… I just gotta know. Has anyone not yet read this series? Anyone? ‘Cause I’m tellin’ y’all RIGHT NOW… These are going to rock your world. I’ve even written TWO (well many articles about EIT), but TWO main articles for those who are still doubting this series.

You’re in a reading funk? Experiment in Terror series will FIX that. You’re needing a little “genre” jolt… a little “changeup”? Romance but with a kick? Experiment in Terror will GIVE you that!!! This series has EVERYTHING we love in our books.

You want real-life characters that feel as if we know them, and “live” and breath as if they exist? Dex and Perry are those people. I mean… characters.

You want a new forever “book boyfriend”? One that will last weeks, months and even a year or more since you “met” him? DEX is HIM!!! No wait. He’s mine so… OFF!! 😉 hehe.

You guys. Please. Pleeeeeease believe me. So many of my fellow readers have jumped right in with gusto and loved every minute of these books as much as I have. And quite a few of you have held off, not going crazy over the “terror” premise, or saying you’re not into paranaormal, or saying you couldn’t really get into the first book. Whatever the reason… let me tell you. As far as I know (and I get TONS of email/comments/messages about this series)… EVERYONE that has contacted me (lots!!) has exclaimed their undying love for this series and addiction to Dex.

‘Kay? Even those that doubted me. Even those that douted their interest in a “paranormal” series. And believe me, this is a different kind of paranormal. They’re ghost hunters, for a Youtube show! How cool is that?! The paranormal comes in waves, but SO much about this series is so very human.

And have I mentioned the pining? Ohhhhhh there is delicious angsty pining that leaves you wanting more. No insta-love, but enough of the “POTENTIAL romance angle” to keep you flipping the pages and your heart pumping in your chest.

Do yourself a favor, friends. Those of you looking for their next favorite series? Read this one.

Book Review – Killing Sarai by J.A. Redmerski

Gorgeous cover, intriguing title, but it’s the “bad guy” premise of this book that got my attention. Well, that… and the fact that this was J.A. Redmerski’s newest release and we all know how crazy I went over another one of her books. And although this one’s premise was quite different, it looked like it might have that “taboo” quality to it. Going from the clutches of one bad guy (a Mexican druglord) to another bad guy that was there to deal a “hit”.

So what’s so “taboo” about that? Well, you knoowwwww… falling for the bad guy. ‘Cause that, too, was hinted at in the synopsis. Love between a kidnap victim and a killer. I mean, who does that? Me! That’s who. In my books, though. 😉 Give me that kind of “romance adrenaline rush” any day, ’cause we all know it won’t be easy. Trials and tribulations, more bad guys and bullets, and the “partners” that insist that lover-boy dump (read: kill) his load.

“You think you’ve enchanted him somehow with your innocent girlish wiles. You’ve done nothing of the sort, just so you know. Victor, everything he does, he does it for the better of our Order.”

So says you, Niklas! *hrmph* Nothing better than a cold killer heart that has just warmed up for the first time ever. So fun!!

Yep, you know what I’m talking about. The whole “I like her but I must kill her…” dilemma. Ahhhhh decisions, decisions. What to do…. what.to.do? And that’s where I come along reading as fast and as furious as their escapes, because I love that kind of angst.

And I really enjoyed this one, especially the first half. Nicely detailed in her memories, her fear and her escape (although I was  certainly curious about this Javier guy. The original bad-guy obsessed with her). I would have loved a more intricate look into that story, as she did think about a few memories, that gave them a certain reality that I didn’t expect. It wasn’t just hostage, when it came to Javier’s attention to Sarai. There was a touch more hinted at. Maybe more detail to come?

I was brought here a long time ago… by my mother. Javier saw something in me he didn’t see in the other girls. I call it sickening obsession, he calls it love.

But I was even more curious about Victor (bad-guy #2). I liked that I could completely sense his no-nonsense professional demeanor.

“Are you even human?” I hate him more every time he speaks. “What kind of man would not want to help a defenseless young woman out of a life of bondage and violence, especially when she has escaped her captors and is directly pleading for your help?”

His “calm” even within the storm and his amazing ability to avoid, escape or just “win” any situation that came along. But I especially enjoyed his internal struggle of doing what he’s been taught to do, what he’s always done and yet still trying to find a way to deal with this new situation.

I liked it, however, I wanted to like it even more. The story was fairly well-rounded and I was into it, but there were a few parts that seemed a bit… over the top in terms of the bad-guy scheming. Plans, hits and situations that I didn’t quite believe, but since I was more into the potential (<— keyword) love story anyway, I just “went with it” when it came to the bad-guy stuff.

But overall, I was missing a certain amount of detail for me to truly connect to the characters. I enjoyed watching their story play out and was curious where it would go, but read it with an almost “movie-like” quality where once the movie ends, I shrug and go, “That was cool”. But then look for something more… intense. YES!! That’s what was missing for me. Intensity.

While there were obvious moments of danger/attraction/threat/and personal interactions, I think only the “danger” part got my adrenaline pumping. Not so much the potential love story, and since I’m a romance reader, no matter what the book’s other genre is, I want to feel in love and all swoon-y. And it was there. I was feeling it… a bit. I wanted to feel it A LOT.

Maybe deep down I know that I’m going to be killed and that last desperate part of me wants to know before I die that someone cares. That Victor cares. Because he really is the only person in the world that I have.

Perhaps that’s coming though, as there will be a book #2. Cliffhanger? Ummm… well. Not like our usual cliffhangers. The end of this one didn’t have me gasping or wanting to throw my e-reader. But there is certainly more to this story, and yes, I do intend on continuing their journey, ’cause this author can truly write romantic intensity and angst. So… I have a feeling there will be much more to this “right up my alley” love story.

4 stars for first half and 3.5 stars for 2nd half.

Latest Bargain e-Books – June 21st 2013

I am in my countdown to Book Bash mode, making a list, checking it twice… I’m trying to find out who’s naughty or nice. Er…. oh wait. That’s Santa. But I feel like it’s Christmas right now so it works! 😀

I swear I can barely sleep, double-checking everything, “pre-experiencing” it in my brain, *squeeing* about it in text messages with anyone that can stand me right now. I’m even dreaming about it. And I have those typical dreams, you know? The ones where you “forget” to show up and realize that you missed your own test (or in my case… “event”). Then there was the one where I did show up but forgot to bring… everything. Now, i’m just expecting the next one to be me walking in… in my underwear.

Only in my dreams, though… ’cause in real life, it’s just gonna rock, and no worries. My mom’ll be there to make sure I get dressed. 😉 Thanks mommy!!

So overall, I’m just a big happy *squeeing* excited mess. One thing I am missing though, is the reason for this whole celebration in the first place. Books. Over the last month or so, I’ve temporarily slowed down my usual reading schedule for this great big book event (it’s worth it though). Eight more sleeps, people!!! Eeeeeeep!!! Actually 7 more sleeps, ’cause I’ll be meeting a ton of you on Friday! 😀

But let me tell you, on July 1st… I’m turning back into a reading machine. Read books, *squee* and then review books. I will read, read, and read some more. I’m seriously craving laying on my couch for days on end, with my nose in book after book. Will y’all join me in my upcoming book indulgence?

Yah!? Cool! Okay so in the meantime, I’ll just continue to “collect” books, and post the reviews of the books I have read, this weekend.

Following Me

OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! *runs around in circles tugging hair* K.A. Linde’s “Following Me” is out right now! I have a feeling it’s gonna be angstyyyy. If y’all were at my place right now, we could have our very own-angsty-marathon-pj party!! Okay just read that synopsis and you’ll know what I mean.

Just a couple of weeks ago, one of our fellow readers was asked us to help her find a book that matched a certain teaser she had read, but couldn’t remember which. The way she described it sounded AWESOME. It ended up being THIS ONE! And I also had a post entitled “Five fun facts about Following Me” and I knew I just had to read it.

So here it is… live as we speak!

Cheryl McIntyre – Sometimes Never Series Reading Order

Another book/series that comes highly recommended by our fellow readers. Deep, emotional, intense… just look at these reactions!

Erin: I have yet another book recommendation for you. This one is along the lines of Sea of Tranquility, Pushing the Limits, and Hopeless, it truly is an amazing read that brings light to a very serious problem through a beautifully told love story. The book is Sometimes Never by Cheryl McIntyre. It is definitely one not to be missed!!

Kolleen: I just finished an amazing book and have to add this to your list for people that loved Beautiful Disaster. Read “sometimes never” by Cheryl McIntyre, you will love their story!

Jessica: Just finished Sometimes Never by Cheryl McIntyre… Was not expecting such an intense read. Some really sensitive subject matter… And the way it is written makes you feel like you are there inside Hope’s head… It hurts… hauntingly so… it gives you an inside into something I am not really sure I wanted to be part of… But i just couldn’t stop reading… And now I can’t stop thinking about it.

Shanda: I don’t know if you have gotten any recommendations for this yet but it is called “Sometimes Never” by Cheryl McIntyre, I am 70% thru and I was going to wait until I was done, but I am way to excited about it.  I had to tell you.  You know 2 of my top two books I read this year have been The Sea of Tranquility and The Edge of Never.  Well this book has kind of “that” feel to me.  Strong subject matter but soooo good.  At times I just want to hold my breath….  anyway, I hope you check it out and put it at the top of your TBR!

About book #1:
