Book Review – Harder by Robin York

Harder: A Novel (Caroline & West Book 2)
This was a great sequel to the book that had me absolutely on edge this week, in love and in emotional angst! Book #1 (Deeper) set my heart on fire, and gave me a perpetual stomach ache, and had all of that realism that I crave in “new adult” novels, but alas… it left me in a heartache lurch.

And Harder (this book!) twisted that knife in my gut just a little harder. A little longer. And for a good portion of the story. 😉

Aimee: Thing I loved most about this book is how genuine Caroline and West felt as people. I fell into “being” each of them within seconds of the shift in POV. Too real! read more

Book Review – You by Caroline Kepnes

You: A Novel
This dark-read was obviously up my “dark alley” in soooooo many ways, that I just couldn’t resist reading it upon it’s release. Exploring a subject matter that titillates my reading-thrill needs, and so well written (you’ll see that right from the sample), with a blurb that just blew my mind. It had to be next!

Book Review – Worth the Fall by Claudia Connor

Worth the Fall: The McKinney Brothers
I was soooo in the mood for a book like this. It was a total “new-to-me” surprise in a recent release list with a premise that had my heart, right from the start. I just knew this would be my next. And… it’s not because I read many “military” romance books (although I have no idea why, ’cause to me, these guys are the ultimate heroes while retaining their bad-ass alpha-ness). Perfect for me. I should read more of ’em! read more

Book Review – Rule by Jay Crownover

Rule: A Marked Men Novel
An oldie but definite goodie that’s been floating around on my TBR list for a year now, and I finally read it! What took me so long… eh… who knows? Maybe it’s the cover. He looks… young. And kind of like my cousin or something. 😉

But wow, once I got over that aspect (I just re-invented him in my head), it ended up being everything I look for in a “book bad-boy”. It had all of the right touches. Steamy, slightly angsty, infuriating (oh he can be bad!!) but he’s also protective and deliciously alpha. And believable. Mind you the parents of both main characters were a bit over-the-top, but I went with it, because it helped cinch other parts of the story and emotional connection. read more

Book Review – Room 212 by Kate Stewart

Well well well! What do we have here? A total one-click winner (and bargain priced, at that!). Romantically angsty and tumultuous, but nothing too crazy. Well… hrmmm… crazy enough to have you furious and wanting to chuck your Kindle at times, but umm… just not unforgivable. Well… then again… 😉 Lets just say don’t get too comfortable, ’cause this love story takes plenty of emotional turns. Prepare for upheaval. Prepare to be pi$$ed! And prepare to encounter at least ONE scene in this book that will have you remembering your own “Once upon a time…” like that (and not always in a good way). read more
