The Sea of Tranquility
This one is easily going to be one of my favorites this year. And I mean TOP favorites. A subdued and somber story but with a great measure of warmth that took my breath away. I was absolutely and personally touched by the time I reached the end. Every part of me was wholeheartedly invested in these complex characters, and even the “normal” moments, and the facetious characters brought a certain depth to the story as a whole. It was… profound. The heartache tangible (and unimaginable) and yet… so real.

Marie Force – McCarthys of Gansett Island Series Reading Order
UPDATED May 5th 2020 (a new one – Rescue After Dark – just went LIVE today). 😀
PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALES ALERT!!! I found this author in the e-book bargains, and they were calling to me! When I made mention that so many of the books seemed to be right up my alley, my friend Tina commented:
Tina: I’ve read a lot of Marie Force’s books and her men are Alphas but not as gruff. Does that make sense? You get the protective stuff without the “leather wearin’ can kill you with my glare and two fingers” Alpha alpha. I liked the MacCarthys series of hers the best. You get a sense of community with the storylines … these folks live on Gansett Island. True North was pretty good too. Got to love hot, rich men.
Book Review – Sweet Dreams by Kristen Ashley
Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain)
Oh woooooowww!! Another awesome find, and this one, I found pretty much by accident (well sorta). “Morgan” suggested the “Rock Chick” series from this author (“…not rock stars but they are DEFINITELY badasses!!”), and when I looked it up, THIS one caught my eye (from another series altogether), and I downloaded it immediately!

I had a busy (and awesomely fun) weekend and I completely shirked my responsibilities. There was reading, shopping, restaurant eating, friends, a movie (Breaking Dawn, but of course!!) and even a rodeo! A RODEO!! I never thought I’d attend one of those before, but when my friend called with some VIP tickets, I thought it might be a fun new experience. Boy was I right!!
Book Review – Please Don’t Stop the Music by Jane Lovering
Please Don’t Stop the Music
Thank you Jennifer for this AWESOME recommendation! Another WOW book for me! I simply… LOVED it. I totally lucked out. How can that be? How can something this interesting, well rounded, heartfelt and heart wrenching be bargain priced?
I “pre-reviewed” it on on my Facebook page (I couldn’t help it!), and it looks like I’m not alone in my enthusiasm for it:
Maryse’s Book Blog: I’m reading a really good book right now. It’s witty and fast, and just good writing, but it took me a bit to catch the writing style (it takes place in England). Kind of reminds me (writing-wise) of Flat-Out Love & How to Kill a Rock Star. This too, has an angsty ex-rock star (and boy did the “reveal” surprise me!!) Very worthy of angst. LOVE this character. Overall well-rounded, excellent read. Not off the charts in romance (although there IS that), but just plain good anyway.
Book Review – Single White Vampire by Lynsay Sands
Single White Vampire (Argeneau)
I am getting the impression that this was the first published book in the series, despite it being #3 in the actual reading order. It seems this is the one that introduced the readers to the Argeneau clan, and was certainly quite a hit. I agree with the fans! It was extremely witty, and I fell in love with Lucern’s grumpy edge, and chuckled at Kate’s insistence in getting her way with Lucern, despite his extreme resistance. Subtlety is not part of Lucern’s manner, and he has no shame in not wanting to please those around him.
