Broken Girl
With that gorgeous cover, rousing title, and a synopsis that absolutely gave me a *jolt*,
“He becomes the constant I’ve never had and the only man I’ll ever trust. There is nothing simple about falling in love when you’re keeping a secret like mine.“
I was anticipating everything this one promises. Personal angst, growth, and that inherent drama that we all crave in our potential love stories. I was intrigued.
So when the author sent me a review copy, I jumped in. And I enjoyed it!
What Alice Forgot
*whooooooooo* Finished! I read this one for the last two (3? days) and now I see why! Almost 500 pages of an incredibly written personal story focusing on the heroine’s emotional journey of loss. Loss of a marriage that once was happily the center of her world, but also, loss of a certain part of her memory after an accident.
And while we might guffaw at the “amnesia” trope, this one really worked, for me. The reality we experienced… a whole other “perspective” to a life once forgotten by “taking each other for granted” and life happening as it will… was wonderfully explored.

BIG FAT FLOPPY TEARS ALERT!!!! I read this dry-eyed right to the end (waiiiiit for it…), knowing for sure… I was bound to cry, right? Why wasn’t I crying yet? WHOA THAT PART? WHOA. THAT THOUGHT? WHOA. WHAT HE/SHE JUST SAID?!!!!! WHOA. THAT FEELING?!! But it’s as if my emotions were on standby. Like I was scared. Like I was waiting… for something, and I didn’t know if I needed to cry for heartache and pain, or for joy. Or for both.
A twinge of unease tainted my happiness, like a drop of black ink in a clear bowl.
Live For This
Definitely a great fit for the “What to Read After Me Before You” list!! Thanks to those of you that recommended this.
I was in the mood for a sweet friendship/potential love story between someone coping with a disability and someone taking life for granted and this one certainly had all of that!

Idol (VIP Book 1)
This one started off as the ultimate rock star fantasy loaded in steam and SWEET! Because… you just KNOW (in real life!) that actually “meeting” your favorite rock star is a far-fetched fantasy.
And even if you did finally meet them, they’d likely not remember you or even take the time to get to know “you” in the onslaught of fans meeting them too. It’s understandable. As personable as they may be, someone in the limelight, that is constantly surrounded, develops a certain distance… maybe even ambivalence to that kind of environment.
