bev was curious and decided to start a quiz a few weeks ago (and she played her own quiz, so here are her answers in case you missed ’em). The answers were so fun, and I know we ALL can relate to these in one way or another. What’s fun about ’em, is it forces us to reconsider our TBR lists, and re-introduces us (or REMINDS us) of highly recommended books that are already on it. Or gives us insight as to what our fellow readers like to read, and how they “choose”.

This author is an absolute must-read-everything-she-writes author for me, so you can bet, when I received an early review copy of THIS one (paperback format!!!). I was ALL over it.

Maryse: Okay… you guys are gonna be mad. LOL! It’s the upcoming one by Taylor Jenkins Reid (One True Loves)… and it’s only coming out in June so I am WAY early with reading this, but I can’t help it. I CAN’T. THIS is what I’m in the mood for.

Book Review – Set In Stone by Rachel Robinson
Set In Stone
Okay first I gotta say… OMG THAT EPILOGUE. I’m in tears. TEARS. Wow!!!! As fine and even-keeled as I was with the read as a whole, that ending took my breath away. I did NOT see that coming.
It was an amazingly sweet story that you can’t know about unless you’ve read the first book (Crazy Good). If you read this review (or this book first) it will spoil the whole *shebam!!!* of the first one, and trust me, that book was awesome.
This one was a nice continuation of the story and while YES it can be read as a standalone, it shouldn’t be, because the story is SO much richer when you start from the start. So if you haven’t read “Crazy Good” yet, go do that, and skip this review.
Book Review – Smut by Karina Halle
Smut: A Standalone Romantic Comedy
Awwwww!!! Sexy sweetness in pure Karina Halle fashion. Oh sure, that title and sexy cover says one thing, and OMG is it ever …. HOT!!!!! But don’t let all that fool ya. It reads like our beloved new adult romance favorites. I mean, come on. We know this author well, and her romance style is fully present, here.
Grace: I really suggest you read Smut first because OMG!!! …I know I’m acting like a crazy person, but I’m being FOR REAL! The start is slow. I mean after the prologue. The PROLOGUE! It’s crazy, but then it slows down. It’s still really good writing because Karina Halle is very talented. It has a few funnies in there, but then she blows the doors off. I’m at 87% right now. ALL of my ranting has been for everything from about 18% on. JUST READ IT!!!! EVERYONE ON HERE SHOULD BE READING THIS!!!!
What to Read After The Deal
I’ve been looking for more “new adult” books with that awesome, old-school “college/new adult” feel. There are so many in the new adult genre, from super-heartbreaking, to super-dark and everything in between. But to me… that one to the left? That is a recent “new-adult” book with that delightful “old-school’ feel.
You know the ones… Beautiful Disaster (<— although that one is super heartbreaking – LOVE!!), Easy, Flat-Out Love, Rock Me, Slammed… you get the picture. And they don’t have to be jocks (this isn’t a sports star romance list, although that’s coming, too!). 😉 It’s about the “feel” of the writing, the storyline and the characters, their dialogue and connection, and not so much, the “trope”.
