Book Review – Embraced By Blood by Laurie London

Embraced by Blood (A Sweetblood Novel)
I was lucky enough to go directly from my steamy paperback (book #1) into a digital review copy of book #2 (as provided by Harlequin). The book isn’t officially out just yet (coming out on June 21st 2011), but once it is released, I’ll be getting a nice paperback copy to add to my collection. I love the obvious vampirey-ness of these covers.

Book Review – Bonded by Blood by Laurie London

Bonded by Blood (A Sweetblood Novel)
This one came to me by way of a friend who purchased the book for it’s very steamy vampire-y cover. She thought it would look nice displayed in my upcoming “vampire/reading” room, and I have to agree. It’s gorgeous! But the best thing about the book is actually the story told inside. I just read this on a recent business trip, and it wholeheartedly captured my attention and kept me entertained throughout.

It’s about Dominic, the PERFECT vampire (well, in my opinion anyway). He heads a vampire law enforcement team, where they protect humans and other vampires from a group of “bad” vampires called the Darkbloods. The Darkbloods run a black-market operation, draining humans with rarer blood types for sales to other vamps. Civilized vampires feed from humans in small amounts (so as not to hurt them), and do that whole “vampire-mind-trick” thing to keep them from being scared, and from remembering the encounter (cause you know… vampires don’t really exist). Darkbloods however, have no respect for humans, see them as cattle to feed from, purposely frighten them (adrenaline sweetens the blood), and most often, drain them dry. read more

Wow. This one worked for me, and I’m pleasantly surprised. I went into it thinking I was going to be sorely disappointed (as I was with the last two books), but that wasn’t the case at all.

You know when you get invited to go somewhere, and you’re getting ready to go, but you’re all bummed ’cause you’re so sure it won’t be your thing, and you’re going to have a miserable time? And then you go, and it ends up being so fun, and one of the most memorable experiences in your life? Well… okay, not to that extent with this book, but close 😉 read more

Darkness at Dawn
Welcome back everyone. Please clean your feet off. I had to break into Maryse’s last night. It rained, like flooded and I was about to lose my books. I will replace the window, don’t worry. There was some scary crap out there last night and the book I was reading? Not helping. AT ALL!

I read Darkness at Dawn by Devin Harnois, and man it was a really short read, but it was GOOD. Everson is a solider, a modern warrior. Fighting a variety of “nasties” every night is the only thing that keeps him going. He has lost more than one partner to them and he is determined to kill all he can find. Lily’s Book Review – Dangerous Highlander by Donna Grant

Hey guys. Get in here quick *darts look around*, there is something out there. I may or may not have forgotten to rinse out my blood bottles. There are herds of mosquitoes and I keep hearing noises! I’m not scared or anything, you know, cause I’m a vamp and everything, but I don’t like thinking about what it might be out there…. what if it’s Blade? Ok, ok, can we change the subject?

So, because of all the Paul Marron madness, and because it was FREE, I picked up Dangerous Highlander: A Dark Sword Novel. I have had Highlanderism before, so I know I like the men in Kilts. I was wondering if it would be paranormal or not though and that was put to rest right away. The book opens with a brief history lesson. Remember when Rome owned pretty much all of the known world? When they took on the Celts they bit off a bit more than could be chewed thanks to some help from the Druids. Freeing long forgotten about gods was the only way to win read more
