Book Review – Take Care, Sara by Lindy Zart

This one was recommended adamantly by two fellow readers. Their reactions to it had me purchasing it and forsaking my TBR list almost immediately.

Rose: Hi Maryse- The above book just released May 30th and I saw it recommended on FB.  a STEAL after I decided to get it after downloading the sample and had to keep on reading.  It covers some tough topics (one that shocked me halfway through and didn’t see coming).  It had a vibe like “The Edge of Never” yet the story didn’t feel like it was about a man and a woman but then it was plus so much more (I will warn that it’s an emotional read and NOT light reading)….  I don’t even know if that comment makes sense but wanted to recommend it… read more

Book Review – There Is No Light In Darkness by Claire Contreras

There is No Light in Darkness (Darkness Series)
This one has come highly recommended, quite regularly since it’s release. I kept hearing it was a “crazy cliffhanger but so worth the read” and that was enough to make it a definite TBR asap, on my list.

Jen: Really enjoyed There is no light in darkness. It’s new and has a mystery to go along with the love story. Cole is amazing … you just wish you were Blake!!!!! Can’t wait for book two!!!!!

Sarah: Have you read There is No Light in Darkness yet? I just finished it and LOVED it. It’s steamy, mysterious and really tugs at your heart. It has a cliffhanger but the next book comes out soon I think. read more

Book Review – I Hope You Find Me by Trish Marie Dawson

Hehe. I’m chuckling at how I described this book to you guys last week (before I had actually read it). I pretty much had NO clue what this book was going to be about, but I thought I did. I had the impression that it was one of those “kidnapped girl” stories and the hunt to find her. Bad guys and all that. Oh boy was I wayyyy off. Sorta.

In fact, it started off even better than that. It seemed to be just what I was looking for these days (an apocalyptic-type thriller), and I had the shock of my life when I realized what I was in for. Stop now if you don’t want to know any more. read more

Book Review – The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

The 5th Wave
Friday night… I was all set to read one of my two top choices in my TBR list. I even had one of my Facebook friends choose my next one for me since she had read ’em both. Angsty, action packed romance, or psychological horror story of a kidnapped girl, and we all know how much I enjoy that kind of adrenaline rush. Both books are getting great responses, so either way, I was likely to come out a winner, right?

So what the heck happened, for me to go completely off of my book-radar and choose one that I had never heard of before (even though everyone else has ;)). It appears to be an extremely popular new release. It’s getting a TON of great reviews. But I hadn’t heard of it, simply because it wasn’t in the genre I normally troll for my next book-boyfriend. This one is Sci-fi YA, although my husband didn’t mention that part when he found it for me. read more

You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me
A very good read, with fantastic writing and extensive character development, and at 555 pages (!!!) I really feel like I got to know them well. But at 555 pages, it took me a few days to finish it, with a few stops and starts along the way as I went (especially between 30% and 45%… it was still good, but lagged somewhat at that point). I’m a fairly fast reader, but unless a book has me on the edge of my seat and I simply can’t put it down, a book of this length will take me some time. While it didn’t have me hooked to that extent, I was certainly in for the long haul, and by 50% I was good to go the rest of the way. read more
