The Bronze Horseman (The Bronze Horseman Trilogy)
I don’t have much experience with historical romance novels. In fact, I tend to bypass them, and in all honestly, I don’t even know WHY I usually choose to skip them for something contemporary. It’s not that I haven’t enjoyed those that I’ve already read. As I think back to them, I’ve loved them all. Books about Highlanders, some from the Victorian era, and then some, errrr… okay. Mostly Highlanders. 😉 LOL! Each and every one of them has captured my attention and I’ve found myself completely absorbed and dreaming of a different time. A different way of living. A different way of loving. Some occasional scenes depicting appalling male tendencies and customs, to be sure, but these romance authors sure have a magic touch in making some of them hero-worthy. I don’t think I’d want to test my luck in a real-life “time travel” experiment, but in the land of fiction, these guys seem just as wonderful and exciting as our contemporary bad-boys.
My Book Reviews
Book Review – The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst
The Marriage Bargain
Fantastic little read when you need something lighter, in between “moodier/darker” books. This one had a bit of everything. Misunderstandings, arrogant behavior, laugh-out-loud funny moments (plenty of those), jealousy… and the much needed constant temptation. The potential romance that constantly hovers right on the edge giving the reader little stomach flips.
And what made it even more appealing was it had that “Fifty-esque” feel to it. Well, not like *that* and not that deep, but… I recognized a few similar thought processes and reactions in this hero that had me fuming at (or wanting to cuddle) him like I did “Fifty“. Of course there is the most obvious similarity (a contract between two attractive people, with the unattainable, controlling male, seemingly holding all of the cards).

For Us Fifty Shades Fanatics – A Compilation List of the Media Attention
The news links are still coming in fast and furious and the media is still going crazy with this Fifty Shades trilogy. Interesting stuff to read and watch (and on occasion, frustrating, ’cause I still tend to think they’re overdoing it with the whole “sex” aspect).
As Jan on my Facebook page mentioned:
Jan: I got frustrated watching Good Morning America talking about 50 Shades. All they talked about was how hot and sexy the book is. They seem to be missing the point that it has hit the best seller list, because it also has a great story and fascinating characters.
Book Review – Sempre (Forever) by JM Darhower
Sempre (Forever)
I received four separate recommendations for this one within a week. THAT caught my attention and even though the cover wouldn’t have intrigued me off the bat (I’m not usually into murder mysteries, and this one *looked* like it might have been one), I set aside my reservations and immediately moved it to the top of my reading list.
Missy: “The other book for me that has the wow effect was Sempre (forever) by J.M Darhower. Now that was a book that made my heart do flips.”
