Evermore: The Immortals
I read this one in just two evenings and it was just what I needed to get a little “break” from the intensity of the Outlander series I’ve been involved in. While it didn’t blow me away, it had a bit of everything to keep me interested. A little personal (and warranted) angst, a love interest that ends up causing even more angst, some questionable behavior (that is never answered until the end – so it keeps you guessing), and of course, plenty of paranormal activity 😉 Be forewarned, it is a YA series, so a lot of the drama is due to personal inexperience and typical teenage hormones, and you get the usual “mean girls” cattiness, but I always get a kick out of those things (now that I don’t have to suffer them).
My Book Reviews
Book Review – Voyager by Diana Gabaldon
Voyager (Outlander)
QUICK NOTE: While I don’t think I gave anything away in this particular review (in regards to the storyline), I couldn’t help but quote my most memorable Jamie and Claire moments from this book. *somewhat* spoiler-ish (in regards to their situation), but then again, I don’t give away the “circumstance” so, it should be okay 😉 If you’re like me and like to go into a story not knowing anything, (I LOVE surprises), then proceed at your own risk, with this review.
Book Review – My Fair Succubi by Jill Myles
My Fair Succubi (The Succubus Diaries Book 3)
Zaaaaaaanne!! *phew* Ok now that I got that out of the way…let’s review 😉
I was highly anticipating this book, and it did deliver! However, I won’t tell you if it gave me exactly what I wanted, cause well, that’ll just give the whole thing away, now won’t it? It did have plenty of risky situations with enemies from the good and the evil side (enemies from good? yup! Angels aren’t always very nice).
Lust and love flourish in this installment, and true to the series signature style, it was all wrapped up in Jackie’s snarky, almost naive hilarity.
Book Review – Dragonfly In Amber by Diana Gabaldon
Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, Book 2)
Book #2 in the Outlander series had my attention, but I was not always riveted to the story. It progressed nicely, albeit somewhat confusingly. We jump from the 1900’s to the 1700’s and back again as Claire recounts her astounding tale, and it was enough to make me panic a bit (Claire went back to the future?? She’s back with Frank? She’s got a daughter! What?! HELP! What happened to Jamie?!)
It’s safe to say the beginning (and that is how it starts) alarmed me, but my despair had me bound and determined to find out where this was going…
Lily’s Northman Cheer
I consider Lily, the queen of quotes. She collects them. Like stamps. I swear she could probably write a diary of her life and thoughts by way of deep and meaningful, or dark and gritty yet humorous quotes she has collected from various sorts of literature (and I mean various! She reads everything! She rocks!).
Lucky for me, she has gathered many of her favorite Eric Northman quotes, and organized them here for us to swoon, giggle and of course, fume over. I think she has captured his essence quite nicely 😉
